Abstract

Multimedia interactive is one of the important thing on mathematics learning to increase effectiveness and efficiency. However multimedia which used in school was not interactive and motivate. So, it was developed interactive learning multimedia based on games on set material. Aim of this research was to result the valid, practice, and effective multimedia. Research was a design research using Plomp model were devided into three stages namely preliminary research, prototyping, and assessment phase. Data was got by questionnaires, validation and interview sheets were analyzed using technique of descriptive quantitative and result of test was analyzed using Sukmadinata formula. Result shows that quality of multimedia are very valid with characteristic content as according to state of the art knowledge, construct has multimedia component, language appropriate to EBI, and visuals are technically good; very practical from ease of using, time of using and the interest of student; and effective for improving students understanding and motivation.Keywords – interactive multimedia, games, design research.

Abstract

Abstract

Understanding mathematical concepts is a basic ability should be achieve by students, In fact understanding mathematical concepts in grade VIII students of SMPN 2 Kamang Magek  still relatively low and students do not play an active role in learning. The solution to this problems applied cooperative learning model Think Pair Square (TPSq) type. The purpose of this research to describe the difference understanding mathematical concepts of students in class VIII of SMPN 2 Kamang Magek who learn with cooperative learning model TPSq type and those who learn using conventional learning. This research are both descriptive research and  quasi-experiment research with static group design. Based on data analysis, P-value = 0.039 obtained that  is rejected, meaning that the understanding  mathematical concepts students who learn with cooperative learning model TPSq type is better than those who learn with conventional learning. Keywords –  conventional learning, cooperative learning model TPSq type, Understanding mathematical concepts.

Abstract

Understanding the concept is one of the goals in mathematics lessons. However, in reality the ability of class XI MIPA MAN 2 Payakumbuh students is still low. This is as a result of the teacher-centered nature of the educational process. The learning process has not actively involved students. The application of cooperative learning type Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) is one way to overcome this problem. The purpose of this research was to analyze and describe students' understanding of mathematical concepts during the application of the STAD learning model and the conventional model. This research used the Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Group Design and the quasi-experimental method. The findings of this study indicate that the use of the STAD model further enhances this ability compared to using conventional learning models. Keywords– Conventional Model, Cooperative Learning, Students Teams Achievement Division, Understanding Mathematical Concept.

Mathematical communication skills of students of class VIII SMP Negeri 20 Padang are still low. This is because the learning process has not been optimal to improve students' mathematical communication skills. One effort that can be made to improve students' mathematical communication skills is by implementing an active learning strategy type Learning Start with a Question. (LSQ). Abstract

Teaching pupils arithmetic problems helps them develop a real-world problem-solving approach. Field findings show that SMA Negeri 3 Padang class XI F students struggle with math. A problem-based learning strategy can solve this. This study investigates how problem-based learning affects mathematical problem-solving. This descriptive, quasi-experimental research uses a nonequivalent posttest only control group design. This study included 2023–2024 SMA Negeri 3 Padang class XI F students. Upon analyzing research hypothesis testing using quizzes and final tests, the P-value <0.05 and average quiz increased. Abstract

Mathematical reasoning is one of the abilities that must be developed by students in learning mathematics. But in the reality in class IX SMPN 1 Nan Sabaris the mathematical reasoning of students is still low. This is because the less facilitated student learning to develop thinking patterns. One of the way that can increase the students ability of mathematical reasoning is by applying Think, Talk, Write strategy in the mathematics learning. Abstract

The purpose on this research is to explain and analyze errors made by students in class VIII at SMP Negeri 13 Padang when solving math problems involving the Pythagorean Theorem using Newman's Error Analysis. According to the findings, students make following mistakes when answering math questions about the Pythagorean Theorem: (a) reading errors include errors in reading useful data in the problem with an error percentage rate of 18,4%; (b) misunderstanding the question isn’t writing down what has known and asked is accordance wih question request with an error percentage rate of 19,02%; (c) problem transformation error where cannot ensure the right strategy or formula to use in solving problems with an errors rate of 22,09%; (d) process skill error isn’t applying the calculation operation, applying the calculation but the results is wrong with the error percentage rate of 19,02%; (e) errors in compiling final answer where isn’t writing this final answer, not writing the unit with a percentage error rate of 21,47% which is the problem transformation error percent rate the largest tase among the other four errors. The factors that cause students to made mistakes were low attention, motivation and student behavior in learning mathematics, the lack of understood of the information contained in the questions, less skilled in using formulas and arithmetic operations, not mastering the prerequisite materials needed to answer these questions, don’t study seriously when the teacher is explaining and teaching, lack of practice questions with different levels of difficulty and variations of questions. Keywords – Mathematical Problems, Error Analysis, Newman’s Analysis

Abstract

Problem solving is a skill that students need to master. In fact, this ability for class IX students of SMP Negeri 28 Padang is still low. The solution provided is to apply the inquiry learning model. The purpose of the research is to examine whether the problem solving abilities of students implementing the inquiry learning model are effective compared to implementing the direct learning model in class IX of SMP 28 Padang and to identify how the problem solving abilities of students develop using the inquiry learning model. The type is quasy experimental with a non-equivalent posttest only control group design. The population is class IX students of SMP Negeri 28 Padang, class IX. 8 and IX.9 as sample classes. Quizzes and final tests in the form of essays as instruments. Reasoning in the fact investigation with the t-test, Pvalue = 0,000 was obtained. Because Pvalue <0,05 then reject H0. This demonstrates students' mathematical problem-solving abilities using an efficient inquiry learning model rather than applying a direct learning model in class IX at SMP Negeri 28 Padang. Keywords- Inquiry, Problem solving, Direct Learning, Mathematic

Abstract

The ability of conceptual understanding of mathematics is one of the learning objectives that are expected to be achieved by students. However, the conceptual understanding of mathematics of SMA Negeri 3 Pariaman students is not as expected. An alternative solution is to implement the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) type of cooperative learning model. The purpose of this research was to describe the differences in conceptual understanding of mathematics between the students who studied using the NHT type of cooperative learning model and those who studied using the conventional learning model, and to explain the development of positive attitudes of XII Social Science class students of SMA Negeri 3 Pariaman towards mathematics. The type of research is quasi-experimental and descriptive, with a Randomized Control-Group Only design. Sampling was conducted by using simple random sampling technique, and XII Social Science 3 as the experimental class and XII Social Science 4 as the control class. The research instrument used a test to measure the ability to understand the mathematical concepts in the form of essay and attitude questionnaires. Based on the results of data analysis, conceptual understanding of mathematics of the students who took part in learning using the NHT type of cooperative learning model is better than the students who studied with conventional learning model. It means that the NHT learning model has a positive effect on the students’ conceptual understanding of mathematics.
