Abstract

Based on observations in class XI MIA SMA Negeri 2 Padang, it was found that students’ mathematical problem solving abilities were still low. One of the reasons is the learning applied is not optimal training and improving mathematical problem solving skill well. Efforts that can be used are implementing PBL models. The purpose of this study is to determine and discribe whether the ability of mathematical problem solving learning with the application of PBL models is better thanthe ability to solve mathematical problem learning by applying the direct learning model. This type of research is quasi experimental research design with Randomized Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The study population was students of class XI MIA SMA Negeri 2 Padang with a sample of class XI MIA2 and XI MIA3. The instrument used was a test of mathematical problem solving ability in the form of essay questions. The results showed the ability to solve mathematical problems with the application of PBL models is better thanthe ability to solve mathematical problems with the application of direct learning models.Keywords — Problem Based Learning (PBL), problem solving skill, Mathematics

Abstract

One of the purposes of learning mathematics was understood the  concepts of  mathematical expected of students. However, in practice, the SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang is still suboptimal or still low. Existing learning models failed to improve student concepts. Poor concept  understanding affects other math skills. The study purpose was found and explained the increased conceptual understanding by students learning in a flipped classroom learning model, and to find out how conceptual understanding is improved in students learning in a flipped classroom learning model. to explain. Better than grasping the students learning concepts in the classroom using direct learning models. Class XI MIPA SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang for 2022/2023. This type of study is a quasi-experimental, descriptive study design by the Non-Equivalent-Only Posttest Design Group. The population is Class XI MIPA SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang and the study samples are Class XI MIPA 1 and XI MIPA 3. Research tools are quizzes and concept comprehension tests. Data on the development of this ability were described by quiz scores and test scores were analyzed using t-tests. The results of the quiz showed that applying the REACT strategy increased the development of conceptual understanding, and  the results of the test analysis yielded a t-test P - value = 0.00. ,  H0 is rejected. This means that in the 2022/2023 XI MIPA SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang class, conceptual understanding by students learning in the flipped classroom learning model is better than by students learning in the direct learning model. Keywords: Understanding Mathematical Concepts, Flipped Classroom learning model, Direct Learning

Abstract

This research compares the problem-solving abilities of students who learn directly with those of students who use the Think Talk Write (TTW) cooperative learning technique. Students in grade VIII of SMPN 12 Padang participated in this study, which employed a non-equivalent control group design. A test for solving mathematical problems served as the study's instrument. Essay questions made up the majority of the test. The goal of data analysis of test results for mathematical problem-solving skills is to determine whether the tested hypothesis is accepted or rejected. According to the findings, pupils who learnt utilizing this learning technique had greater problem-solving abilities than those who learned from teachers directly. This demonstrates how effective this form of cooperative learning is in enhancing students' capacity to solve mathematical issues.  As a result, this study offers proof that TTW cooperative learning strategies can help students become better arithmetic problem solvers.Keywords– Mathematical problem-solving, Cooperative learning, Think Talk Write.

Abstract

Word problems become an important part of mathematics, because they are used to apply formal knowledge and skills in real-world situations. In fact there are still many students who do mistakes when solving word problems. This study aims to determine the student errors of classVIII.2 of SMPN 4 Padang, who numbered 31 people in solving the word problem based on the level of metacognition awareness, and describing the factors that caused it. The type of research is descritive, namely describing students mistakes when completing a word problems. Data collection techniques used metacognition awareness inventory, word problem test, and interview quidelines. This study show students make mistakes in understanding problems, transformation errors, process skill errors, and encoding errors. Internal factors that cause students errors in solving word problems are 1) habits of students who do not repeat the lesson; 2) lack of attention of students to mathematics. While the external factors that cause student errors in solving story problem are 1) the influence of friends; 2) the teacher’s voice is slow with fast tempo when explaining the lesson; 3) schedule for math lesson in the afternoon.Keyword – analysis of student errors, newman error analysis, word problem, metacognition awareness

Abstract

The abilitis that are expected t0 be p0ssessed by students leaning mathematics, one of which is mathematical communication. H0wever, in reality, from the learning outcomes 0f student, it cann be seen that the matematical communication 0f grade VIII students of Islamic Junior High School Al-Islah Bukittinggi is still l0w, s0 it must be impr0ved. One 0f the efforts made to improve students' mathematical communication skills is by implementing a learning model that facilitates students to learn actively and build their own knowledge. The learnning model that can be applied is the Quantum Teaching model. Based on these problems, a study was conducted to see whether the mathematical communication application 0f students wh0 learn with the Quantum Teaching leaning m0del is beter at learning with conventional learning in class VIII of SMP Islam Al-Islah Bukittinggi. Keywords – Quantum Teaching, Mathematical Comunication Skill.

Abstract

This experimental research, which is implemented in SMPN 1 Canduang 7th grade academic of 2018/2019. Investigating the mathematical communication skills of students who learn by applying the cooperative learning model think pair share is the purpose of this research. After the research, it was found that the average score of mathematical communication skills of students who learned by applying the cooperative learning model think pair share was better than the average score of mathematical communication skills of students who studied with conventional learning.  Keywords – Cooperative learning, think pair share, mathematics communication

Abstract

Learning result are benchmarks used toodetermineetheeleveloof successsof studentsiin understanding concepts in learning. But in fact, judging by the final assessment scores offtheeeighthhgrade mathematicians offSMPN 1 Padang Panjang for the 2020/2021 school year, it is still low. One effort that can overcome these problems is to use a multi-application-based blended learning model in the mathematics learning process. Theepurposeeoffthissstudy was toddetermine and describe the mathematics learning outcomes ofsstudentsswho study withtthe multi-application-based Blended Learning model at SMPN 1 Padang Panjang. This type of research is a pre-experimental research with the design of the one shot case study. The subjects of this study were students in class IX E of SMPN 1 PadanggPanjang in the 2021/2022 academic year. The instrument used is a test of mathematics learninggresult in the formoof description questions, theedata obtained are thenaanalyzed with the one sample tttest. Basedoonnthe analysis of the researchddata, ittcannbe seen thataat theereal level α = 0.05, P-value =00.000 is obtained for the data on mathematics learning result, because the P-value < α, then reject H0. sooittcannbeeconcludedtthattthe blendeddlearninggmodel hasaan effectoon learning result, where theelearning outcomes oftthose who learn withhthe blendedllearningamodel are better than theeresultsoof previous studies. Keywords – blended learning, learning result, One shot case study design

Abstract

Achievement of learning mathematics can be seen through evaluation. However, the results of the evaluation in class IX of SMP Negeri 20 Padang are still low. This is because students make mistakes in solving questions. Therefore, an analysis of these errors was carried out to measure the quality of student answers. One solution to measure the quality of students' answers is by using error analysis based on Newman's Error Analysis (NEA). The errors studied were based on indicators of Newman's errors. This type of research is descriptive with research subjects as many as ten class IX students of SMPN 20 Padang.  The results showed that the research subjects tended to make (a) mistakes in reading the questions in the form of mistakes in reading the important information in the questions and not using that information to solve the problems; (b) problem transformation errors in the form of not being able to transform the questions into patterns and sequences or being able to find patterns in the questions, but are wrong; (c) problem transformation errors in the form of not being able to transform the questions into patterns and sequences or being able to find patterns in the questions, but are wrong; (d) Errors in writing the final answer in the form of not writing down the answer, making a mistake at the previous stage or not completing the calculation according to what the question asked for.Keywords– Error Analysis, Newman Error Analysis, Mathematics

Abstract

Understanding of mathematical concepts ability is an important aspect of mathematics learning. But in fact, students’ability to comprehend concepts of mathematics students in VIII grade SMPN 29 Padang is still low. One effort that could be done was applying cooperative learning model numbered head together (NHT) type. Purpose of this study is to know increasing of students’ understanding of mathematical concepts ability who using cooperative learning model NHT type better than conventional learning. Type of research was a quasi experimental research with static group design. Sampling was done by simple random sampling technique. Instrument is final test. Data analysis used Anderson darling test. Based on data analysis, it can be concluded that students’ understanding of mathematical concepts who study by cooperative learning model NHT type is better than conventional learning.Keywords - conventional learning, cooperative learning type NHT, understanding of mathematical concept

Abstract

Mathematical reasoning ability is very important for students to be able to solve various problems inside and outside the mathematical context. However, in class VIII SMPN 1 Danau Kembar students' mathematical reasoning ability is still low. One effort that can be done to improve students' mathematical reasoning ability is to apply the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The purpose of the study was to describe the effect of the Problem Based Learning model on students mathematical reasoning abilities better than students mathematical reasoning by using conventional learning in class VIII SMPN 1 Danau Kembar. The type of research is quasy-experiment and descriptive with a Randomized Control Group Only Design. The research instrument is a test of mathematical reasoning abilities. From the data analysis it was concluded that students' mathematical reasoning abilities that applied the PBL model were better than the students' mathematical reasoning abilities who applied conventional learning, and there was an increase in students' mathematical reasoning abilities while learning to apply the PBL model. Keywords - The Ability Of Mathematical Reasoning, Problem Based Learning Model, Learning Conventional
