Abstract

Learning outcomes are obtained by students after learning activities. Proper learning is needed in improving learning outcomes. But in its application, the process of learning mathematics at SMAN 4 Padang is still centered on the teacher which causes learning activities that are less than optimal. Activities and learning outcomes in mathematics can be improved by applying the discovery learning model. The purpose of this study is to find out and explain whether the activities and learning outcomes of experimental class students are better than the control class. This type of research is a combination of quasi-experimental and descriptive experiments with static group design research. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the activities of students who learn with discovery learning models tend to increase and the results of learning mathematics students who learn with the discovery learning model are better than students who learn with conventional learningKeywords — Discovery learning, Learning activities, Learning outcomes

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to conclude whether the ability to solve math problems using the Creative Problem Solving learning model is greater to the direct learning model. This is based on test results which show that class VIII students of SMPN 13 Kerinci are still constrained in mastering one of these mathematical competencies. The type of research is quasi experimental with The Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design approach. The population is all students of class VIII SMP Negeri 13 Kerinci for the academic year 2022/2023 using a simple random sampling technique. The research tool is a test of the ability to solve mathematical problems and uses the average similarity test t-test where the data is homogeneous and normally distributed. The results obtained after the t test showed that P-Value = 0.018 or less than the confidence level of 0.05. These results prove that the Creative Problem Solving learning model in solving mathematical problems is greater to the direct learning model. Keywords– Creative Problem Solving, Quasi Experiment, Mathematical Problem Solving

Abstract

Error analysis is one of the effective methods to identify patterns of mathematical errors of students. This research aims to describe and analyze the students' mistakes at VIII SMPN 1 Payakumbuh in solving math essay-tests on the number pattern using Newman’s error analysis. The errors studied were based on the types of errors in the Newman error indicator which include reading errors, comprehension error, transformation error, process skill error, encoding error. This descriptive research used qualitative approach. This type of research is descriptive with research subjects as many as 5 students of class VIII.3 SMPN 1 Payakumbuh based on students who have the most errors and different variation of errors. The result showed the percentage reading errors is , comprehension error is , transformation error is , process skill error is  and encoding error is .Keywords – Error Analysis, Newman’s Error Analysis, Number Pattern

Abstract

Learning outcomes refer to the measurable accomplishments of pupils that serve as indicators of whether or not the educational goals in the field of mathematics have been successfully attained. However, it is evident that the learning results of Class IX SMPN exhibit a significant deficiency in terms of academic achievement. This phenomenon can be attributed to the adoption of a learning approach that lacks student engagement in the learning process. In order to address these challenges, the implementation of the Discovery Learning approach is employed. The present study used a quasi-experimental approach with a randomised control group posttest only. The research findings reveal that the hypothesis test yielded a P-value of 0.001, suggesting that the null hypothesis ( ) should be rejected. Therefore, it can be inferred that the learning outcomes of ninth-grade students at SMPN, while utilising the Discovery Learning instructional approach, exhibit a higher level of proficiency compared to those who follow conventional learning model.Keywords. –Discovery Learning, Mathematics, learning outcomes

Abstract

The purpose of learning mathematics is very important is to develop the ability to understand mathematical concepts so as to create learning activities that are fun and well understood by students. Reality in the field, learning is still teacher-centered, causing low activity, competitiveness and lack of ability to understand students' concepts in working on mathematical questions given. In this case, so that an understanding of mathematical concepts can be achieved requires a learning model that can make students more focused and interested in learning, thus making them play an active role in each learning activity. The learning model used is the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) learning model which can provide opportunities for students to be active in learning so that the process of learning is student-centered. The purpose of this study was to describe the increase in students' understanding of mathematical concepts during and after learning using the Numbered Heads Together learning model in class VII.5 of SMP Negeri 30 Padang Academic Year 2018/2019. The type of research is classroom action research. The instruments used were in the form of observation sheets and performance assessment sheets. The subjects of this study were class VII.5 students of SMP Negeri 30 Padang who had the ability to understand mathematical concepts that were still low. The research data were analyzed by descriptive statistics. Based on the data analysis, the results of the study were obtained, namely: through the NHT type cooperative learning model can improve the understanding of the mathematical concepts of Class VII.5 students N Padang Middle School 30, Academic Year 2018/2019. This is indicated by the average concept understanding test results in the first cycle of 61.87 with classical completeness of 31.25% increasing in the second cycle on average to 67.34 with classical completeness of 34.38%.Keywords - numbered heads together model, direct learning model, ability to understand mathematical concepts

Abstract

The implementation of the 2013 curriculum in schools still encounters many obstacles during learning. The learning process is not optimal and the LKPD as a supporter/support for the implementation of the lesson plans is not yet available. Educators have tried so that the learning objectives can be achieved optimally. However, the implementation of better learning in the 2013 curriculum has nor been implemented optimally. This is because students to tend to have difficulty solving problems about non-routine questions. This study aims to develop LKPD on two variable linear programming material that is valid, practical, and effective by using a Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach. This research is a type of development research using the Plomp development model which consists of 3 stages, namely preliminary research, prototyping phase, and assessment phase. The research subjects in this study were students of class XI SMAN 1 Kuantan Hilir who had been selected on a limited basis. The data collection instrument used in this study was in the form of a validation sheet filled out by several experts, a practical questionnaire, and a final test to test the effectiveness of the product that had been made. The results of these data are then analyzed using qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques. Based on the results of data analysis, it shows that the LKPD based on the CTL approach has met the valid criteria with a validity percentage of 85,11%, practical with a percentage of 86,66%, and effective with classical completeness of 83,33%. Keywords– student worksheet, contextual teaching and learning, valid, practical, effective

Abstract

Whether or not the learning objectives of mathematics are achieved can be determined from the outcomes of learning by students. Outcomes of learning are the results shown by students after participating in the process of learning. However, it is still found that the low outcomes of learning by students at SMP Negeri 1 X Koto Singkarak. The research purpose was to describe the outcomes of learning by students in mathematics who used interactive media for learning better than the outcomes of learning by students in mathematics who used learning in conventional. This study uses a type of quasi-experimental research with a non-equivalent post-test only with design of control group. The technique for sampling used technique by purposive sampling with the selected classes being class VIII A and VIII C. The research instrument used was a outcome of learning test in consist of questions in description. The data in research were analyzed using the t test. Through the analysis of data conducted with the t test, obtained a P-value of 0.002 or reject  because it is less than the real level α = 0.05. We got conclussion that the outcomes of learning by students in mathematics who use interactive media for learning are better than the outcomes of learning by students in mathematics who use learning in conventional. Keywords–Learning Outcomes, Interactive Learning Media, Linear Equations.

Abstract

Based on the results of preliminary research, it was found that integral learning tended to use existing textbooks and there was no use of technology in teaching materials. This study aimed to developing instructional design with RME assisted by GeoGebra on topic integral. This study that was combined Plomp and Gravemeijer & Cobb models, which consisted of three phases, namely preliminary research, development or prototyping phase, and assessment phase. The learning design in question is HLT which is implemented on student worksheets. This HLT consists of three components, namely the learning objectives, a series of student activities, and predictions of student answers and anticipations that must be done by the teacher. The subjects of this study were students of class XI SMAN 8 Padang. The data collection instrument used were interview sheets, observation sheets, questionnaires, and test on mathematical reasoning abilities. The results showed that the intructional design based on RME assisted by GeoGebra, especially topic integral can be said to be valid and practical.Keywords-RME, Integral, GeoGebra, HLT

Abstract

Mathematical comprehension is essential. Due to low student engagement, class XII MIPA at SMA Negeri 2 Gunung Talang pupils' understanding is still poor. To solve this, inquiry learning was used. This study examines students' mathematical concept understanding after using the inquiry model and whether inquiry-based learning is better than conventional learning. This study used a nonequivalent posttest-only control group design and quasi-experimental and descriptive research. XII MIPA students of SMA Negeri 2 Gunung Talang in 2023/2024 were the research sample. Data research demonstrated that inquiry learning students understood mathematical concepts better than standard learners. Abstract

Understanding of mathematical concepts is one of the purpose in mathematics learning. Understanding of mathematical concepts is the foundation for students to understand mathematics. But in fact, Understanding of mathematical concepts of students at grade VIII SMPN 3 Pariaman was low. It is caused by learning model that used has not facilitated students to develop their Understanding of mathematical concepts. One effort to overcome this problem is by applying Numbered Heads Together of Cooperative Learning. This learning model helps students to develop their Understanding of mathematical concepts. The type of research is a quasi-experimental design with Static Group Design. The research hypothesis is carried out by using the t-test. These results indicate that the students understanding mathematical concepts in learning that apply the model NHT is better than the students understanding mathematical concepts in learning that apply conventional learning.Keywords – Understanding of mathematical concepts, Numbered Heads Together, Conventional Learning
