Abstract

The skills of teachers in designing learning is most important. Specifically, the development of information technology has progressed, so that students need technology-based learning media to make learning process does not become monotonous during their studies. Material used by educators in classroom learning do not match student characteristics. Desmos are considered capable to help independent learning by students. Research type is Research and Development (R&D) and using the Plomp model to generate valid and practical desmos in trigonometric material. Eligibility analysis desmos on this trigonometry material gain a validity score of 81,36%, with very valid criteria. Abstract

Mathematical mastery necessitates a proficiency in problem-solving. Lesson plans are not always the most effective method to help students develop these abilities. According to studies, problem-solving skills are still deficient among learners. Based on the results of examinations administered to eighth graders, this was also observed at SMPN 7 Padang. Realistic Mathematics Education (PMR) is an approach for overcoming this issue. The purpose of this study is to determine whether students who learn using the PMR method have superior mathematical problem-solving skills compared to those who learn using the conventional method. This study also seeks to describe the development of students' mathematical problem-solving skills following the implementation of the PMR method. This study employs a quasi-experimental and descriptive design with a non-equivalent posttest-only control group. The research population consisted of all eighth-grade SMPN 7 Padang students. As research instruments, descriptive-formatted tests and quizzes were utilized. According to data analysis, students who learn using the PMR approach have superior problem-solving abilities compared to students who learn using conventional approaches, and after using the PMR approach, students' mathematical problem-solving abilities improve.Keywords –  Conventional Approach, Realistic Mathematics Education Approach, Problem Solving Ability

Abstract

Understanding of mathematics concept is the basic ability that must be possessed by students. But in reality, students’ understanding of mathematics concepts in grade VIII SMPN 15 Padang were still weak and learning process was still centered on educators. The solution that could be applied was the cooperative learning model type Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) which made students active in the learning process. The purpose of the study was to find out how the learning activities of students who learned with STAD learning model and to describe students’ understanding of mathematics concepts who learned in experiment class were better than the control class. The type of research was a quasy experiment with static group design. The research hypothesis was proven by t test. From the data analysis, for the level of  , it can be concluded that the activities of students who learn with the STAD learning model fluctuated at each meeting, and students’ understanding of mathematics concepts who learn with STAD learning model is better than conventional learning models.Keywords --- conventional learning, mathematical concept, STAD learning model, student activities

Abstract

Analysis of students' ability to solve mathematical problems is one of the important things to do to determine students' ability to solve application problems from everyday life. Based on the data in the field, the tenth grade students of SMAN 3 Padang are thought to have low problem solving skills. This research approach is descriptive qualitative research. The results showed that the average score of the ability to solve mathematical problems in indicator 1 was 0.73 with sufficient category, indicator 2 was 0.74 with sufficient category, indicator 3 was 0.63 with sufficient category, indicator 4 was 0.22 with very less category. Keywords–  Mathematical Problem Solving ability

Abstract

Student achievement at the end of the learning process is called learning outcomes. Students in grade XI MIPA at SMAN 8 Padang recorded below-standard learning outcomes in mathematics. Passive learning is one of the causes. One alternative that can be applied is cooperative learning, namely the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) model. Abstract

Mathematical communication skills are one of the goals of mathematics learning that must be achieved by students. But learning activities in schools have not been optimal in facilitating students to improve their mathematical communication skills. One effort to overcome these problems is to apply the cooperative learning model Think Talk Write type. The purpose of this study is to describe whether the mathematical communication skills of students who learn by using cooperative learning models Think Think Write type are better than mathematical communication skills of students who learn by direct learning and describe the development of mathematical communication skills of students during the implementation of cooperative learning models of Think Think type Talk Write. This type of research is quasi-experimental and descriptive research design with Randomized Control Group Only Design. Based on the results of data analysis, it was concluded that the mathematical communication skills of students who learn using the Cooperative learning model Think Talk Write type is better than the mathematical communication skills of students who learn by direct learning in class VIII SMP Negeri 18 Padang. Abstract

Understanding mathematical concepts is one of the goals that must be mastered by students in learning. The understanding of mathematical concepts of students in class XI IPA SMAN 1 Tanjung Mutiara is still low, because students have’nt actively involved in finding mathematical concepts. The solution to this problem is to use LKPD based on discovery learning. This type of research is a semi-test plan with a Static Gathering Plan. XI IPA 1 as the experiment class and the control class is XI IPA 2. The instrument in this research is a test of understanding mathematical concepts. The instrument of this research is the final test. The final test was analyzed using t-test. Based on the results of the analysis of students' understanding of mathematical concepts, the value of P = 0.001 is smaller than the level of significance = 0.05. So, the understanding of mathematical concepts of students who learn by using LKPD learning is better than the understanding of mathematical concepts of students who learn by using LKPD which is commonly used before. Keywords — Understanding mathematical concepts, Students worksheet, Discovery learning

Abstract

Mathematical connection ability is defined as a skill that is needed when learning mathematics, in fact, class VII students of MTsN 1 Padang who make mistakes when working on mathematical connection problems. For this reason, an analysis of student errors was carried out in solving mathematical connection problems. This study aims to describe the mistakes made by class VII students of MTsN 1 Padang in solving mathematical connection problems based on Newman's error analysis. The type of research used in this study was descriptive research with a qualitative approach with 6 research subjects selected based on high, medium and low skills. For each skill, 2 students were selected based on variations in answers. The results showed that the types of errors made by class VII students of MTsN 1 Padang in solving mathematical connection questions based on Newman's error analysis consisted of 31% reading errors, 25% understanding errors, 52% transformation errors, 52% processing skills errors. by 62%, and wrong in writing the final answer by 61%.Keywords– Analysis of Student Errors, Newman’s Error Analysis, Mathematical Connection Ability.

Abstract

But in fact, students’ understanding mathematical concepts of class VIII SMP Negeri 15 Padang still low. One of the solutions offered is cooperative learning model type Numbered Heads Together. Purpose of this study is the students’ understanding mathematical concepts who learn to use cooperative learning model Numbered Heads Together better than the understanding of mathematical concepts of learners who learn with conventional learning of class VIII SMP Negeri 15 Padang. Type of research is a quasi experimental research with the design of Static Group Design. Abstract

Problem solving ability is ability of students to be able to solve problem using a clear and systematic process to get the right answer. The reality in the field is that the mathematic problem solving of students in the class XI MIPA SMA Negeri 4 Padang is still low. One of the efforts made is by applying the Discovery Learning model in the mathematics learning proccess. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of the application of the Discovery Learning model on the mathematical problem solving abilities of students in class XI MIPA SMA Negeri 4 Padang. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach and this type of research is pre-experimental (pre-experimental) with a one shot case study design. The class determination of the research subjects was carried out using a purposive sampling technique based on the considerations of the mathematics teacher class XI MIPA SMA Negeri 4 Padang, the chosen one was class XI MIPA 3. The results showed that the mathematical problem solving ability of students in class XI MIPA SMA Negeri 4 Padang with the application of the Discovery Learning model in learning has increased. Keywords–Matematical Problem Solving, Discovery Learning Model, Pre-Experiment
