Abstract

Main point for achieving learning goals and other mathematical abilities is the mathematical understand concepts ability. However, in reality the mathematical understand concepts ability owned by students of class XI IPS MAN 4 Tanah Datar is low. The effort that can be made to improve that ability of student are to apply student teams achievement division (STAD) learning model. The goals of research is for to know and analysis whether mathematical understand concept ability of students uses the STAD model is better from mathematical understand concept ability of students uses the direct learning model and to know and describe the development of the mathematical understand concepts ability of students use the STAD learning model in students of class XI IPS MAN 4 Tanah Datar. The type of the research is quasi-experimental and descriptive research with non-equivalent posttest-only control group design. Result showed that mathematical understand concept ability of students uses the STAD learning model is better from mathematical understand concept ability of students uses the direct learning model. Then, the mathematical understand concept ability of students uses STAD cooperative learning model has increased significantly. Keywords – mathematical concept, STAD learning model, direct learning

Abstract

Mathematical problem solving is0the main goal and tool in mathematics learning. The fact show that students in class X MIA 1 SMA Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP have made mistakes in solving math problem solving. This study purposes to determine the  most  dominant type of error and causal factors in solving mathematical problem solving based on steps Polya. This research uses a descriptive method wih a quantitative approach. Research subject is 24 students of class X MIA 1 SMA Pembangunan Laoratorium UNP. Data obtained from observation, test, and interview. The result showed that the most dominant type of mistakes made by student were mistakes in carrying out the plan at 47.50%. The cause of the error is the lack of accuracy in using data and calculations, they don’t consider it important a few steps, not mastering the material well, lack of training, and have low intellectual ability. Keywords — Error Analysis, Mathematical Problem Solving, Polya Steps

Abstract

Communication skills in mathematics are very important for students. However, in real life the mathematical communication skills of class VII MTsN 2 Kota Payakumbuh students for the 2022/2023 academic year are not yet satisfactory. This can be reviewed through the results of the initial test of mathematical communication skills presented to students. Efforts to achieve improvements in students' mathematical communication skills include implementing a cooperative learning model with the TPSq (Think Pair Square) type. The type of research used is quasi experimental research using a Static Group Design research design. The technique for obtaining samples was carried out through Simple Random Sampling. The final test in essay form is the instrument used. The process of proving the hypothesis of this research is through the use of the t-test. P-value = 0.028 < ? = 0.05, meaning ?0 is rejected. Then, a conclusion can be reached that the mathematical communication abilities of students who take part in the learning process using the TPSq type cooperative model are superior to the mathematical communication abilities of students who take part in the learning process using the direct learning model.Keywords– Mathematical Communication Abilities, Cooperative Learning Model Type Think Pair Square

Abstract

Mathematical problem solving ability is one of abilities that is expected to be develop optimally for learners. However, mathematical problem solving ability of students in eighth grade at SMPN 4 Padang is still low. One of the learning approach that can solve this problem is Realistic Mathematics Education approach.The aims of this research isto know whether mathematical problem solving ability of students who study by Realistic Mathematics Education approach is better than conventional learning in eighth grade at SMPN 4 Padang. The kind of this research was quasi eksperiment with static grup design. The samples of this research was the students at class VIII.4 and class VIII.3. The result of the research show that mathematical problem solving ability of students who study by Realistic Mathematics Education approach is better than conventional learning. Abstract

This study goals to analyze and describe the kinds of errors made by students in completing absolute values based on the Kastolan stages and to discover what influenced students to make errors in solving issues. This type of studies is descriptive qualitative with studies subjects are 9 students of class X MIPA 1 SMA Sumpah Pemuda. The data collection technique was in the form of a written test which was arranged in essay exam as many as 10 questions, interviews, distributing questionnaires and studying documentation. The analysis technique used in this study is data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. From the results of student rethe analysis of student errors, the most errors made by students were conceptual errors namely 56.04%, then technical errors by 33.62% and strategy errors by 10.34%. Many factors that cause students can be wrong in answering math questions on absolute value material are caused by internal factors generally in low physical conditions such as lack of concentration during the learning process, there are still many students who still don't like learning mathematics which can result in lower students math scores than any other lesson. Keywords – Types of  Kastolan Errors, Absolute Value, Factors Causing Errors

Abstract

This study aims to obtain the influence of the application of the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) method in the learning process at SMA Negeri 3 Padang. This method is measured based on four indicators, namely (1) understanding of the problem, (2) selecting a strategy, (3) solving the problem, and (4) re-examining the results of the answers. The four indicators are used to measure students' ability to solve non-routine questions. The CPS method is applied by making students the center of learning. The treatment given to the experimental class is to provide a way to understand the problem. Understanding of the questions asked by the problem and followed by choosing the right strategy and how to solve the problem. The final treatment is to provide skills to interpret the meaning contained in the answers given and compare them with the questions to be achieved. The research was conducted using a quasi-experimental methodology with The Static Group Comparison Design. The conclusion that can be drawn is that there is a significant effect of applying the CPS method, namely the average ability of students in the experimental class is 9.04 in the experimental class and 8.06 in the control class based on the maximum assessment reference is 12. Abstract

This researchaaimsatoadevelopamathematical learningatoolsainatheaformaof generative-based student worksheets (LKPD) for relationship materials and grade VIII SMP/MTS functions. The quality of the developed device is assessed based on aspects of validity and practicality. Thisadevelopmentaresearchauses plompamodelaconsistingaof three stages, namelyapreliminaryaresearch phase, developmentaor prhotyping phase, and assessmentaphase. iInsthesinitialsinvestigationwphase,wneedswanalysis,wcurriculumwanalysis,conceptwanalysisw and analysiswofwstudents. The prototype phase isacarriedwout inwthe activity of designing learningwdevices consisting of prototype 1, and prototype 2. In prototype 1 is conducted self evaluation and expert reviews. Expert reviews are conducted to see the validity of the learning tools developed. In prototype 2, one-to-one evaluation was conducted by testing validated LKPD to three students with different cognitive abilities. Furthermore, the assessment phase to see the practicality of LKPD through the results of practical questionnaires on the response of educators and students. Thewresultssofwstudy show thatwthe developmenwtof generativewbased LKPD for relationship materials and grade VIII functions of SMP/MTS is categorized as valid and practical. Judging by the results of the analysis of validity data in terms of content feasibility, components in LKPD, language, and learning activities have a validity level with a scale of 3.54 categorized very valid. In addition, LKPD also meets the practical criteria of the results of the response questionnaire of students with a scale of 3.40 categorized very practical.  Keywords— Design research, students worksheet, generative model, relation and fungtion

Abstract

This study aims to determine effect of the Modified-APOS (Action, Process, Object, Schema) approach in improving student’s mathematical communication skills. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 13 Padang with a total sampleof 63 students in class VIII in the 2023/2024 academic year. The sample was devided into two classes, the experimental class and the control class. The process for choosing sample classes was carried out utilizing the Simple Random Sampling approach. The type of research conducted is Quasy Experiment research. As for research design used Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The intrument used to collect data was a communication ability test consisting of 3 essay. The data obtained were analyzed for normality with Anderson-Darling test, homogenity of variance test with F-test and hypothesis testing with t-test. From the result of the study, the data obtained were normal and had homogenous variance. For hypothesis testing, p-value = 0,005 was obtained, which means that there is an effect of the M-APOS approach on student’s mathematical communication skills.Keywords — APOS approach, mathematical communication, modified-APOS

Abstract

Creative thinking is the ability in creating various, new, and extraordinary ideas and ways. This ability is one of the skills that is needed to encounter the rapid changing era. In fact, mathematics learning in grade VIII of SMPN 4 Bukittinggi, had not been set creative thinking as the goal. This research aimed to describe students’ creative thinking skills in solving open-ended questions for grade VIII of SMPN 4 Bukittinggi. The research used qualitative method with descriptive research type. The data was collected by observation, questionnaires, mathematical creative thinking skills’ test, and the interview. Based on the results of data analysis, it is found that students' creative thinking abilities are in enough category, with the criteria of each indicator, namely: fluency and flexibility in the enough category, originality and elaboration indicators in good categories.Keywords—Analysis, creative thinking ability, open- ended problem.
