Abstract

Understanding of mathematical concepts is one of the purpose in mathematics learning. Understanding of mathematical concepts is the foundation for students to understand mathematics. But infact, Understanding of mathematical concepts  of students at second grade SMPN 21 Padang waslow. It is caused by learning model that used has not facilitated students to develop their Understanding of mathematical concepts.One effort to overcome this problem is by applying Student Team Achievement Division of Cooperative Learning in mathematics learnings.This learning model helps students to develop their Understanding of mathematical concepts. The type of research is a quasi-experimental design with Static Group Design. The research hypothesis is carried out by using the t-test. These results indicate that the ability of students’ understanding mathematical concepts in learning that apply the model STAD is better than the ability of students’ understanding mathematical concepts in learning that apply direct learning. Keywords – Understanding of mathematical concepts, Student Team Achievement Division, Direct Learning

Abstract

This research aims to describe what and how student’s made error, and how Scaffolding Treatment impact students in term of student’s error when solving mathematics problem related to critical thinking skills. This research was conducted using descriptive method and qualitative approaches. The subject of the research were thirty-four senior high school students. To collect data, mathematics critical thinking test were given and purposively selected six students as respondent of scaffolding based interview. The results show that: 1) most of the errors made are incomplete process when answering (PTL) that cause by the lack of ability to create explanation, and misinterpretation of problem or concept that cause by lack of interpretation and analysis ability. 2) Scaffolding are useful to help students find error, comprehend new understanding, and trigger students to think critically.Keywords—Mathematical Critical Thinking, Scaffolding, Student’s Error

Abstract

Understanding of mathematical concepts is one of the basic competence that should be developed by students. Mean while, in fact found that the understanding of mathematical concept of students grade VIII SMPN 24 Padang is still low. Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) type cooperative learning model can be solution to solve this problem. The purpose of this research is to know whether understanding of mathematical concept of student using cooperative learning TAI type is better that conventional learning in grade VIII of SMPN 24 Padang. The type of this research is quasy experiments, with static group design. The population in this research is students of grade VIII and the sample are VIII A as experiment class and VIII B as control class. Instrument that used is final test of understanding concepts. The result of this research shows that students understanding mathematical concept using TAI type of cooperative learning model is better than students understanding mathematical concepts using conventional learning.Keywords – understanding of mathematical concepts, cooperative learning model type Team Assisted Individualization, conventional learning.

Abstract

This study aims to develop android-based interactive multimedia in mathematics subjects at SMKN 2 Padang which can be used to facilitate educators and students in the learning process. The media, which was developed with the help of smart apps creator software, is to determine the validity and practicality of products that combine several formats such as text, images, animation, video, and audio. This research is a development research (Research and Development) with the Plomp development model with stages, namely: initial investigation stage, development stage, and assessment stage, but in this study only two stages were carried out. The instruments in this research are validity and practicality questionnaires. The developed media was tested on three students in the One-to-one Evaluation and six students in the Small Group Evaluation with different cognitive abilities. Based on the results of the analysis of the validity data, it shows the level of validity with the percentage (1) Material expert assessment reaches 83.33% with a very valid category, (2) Media expert assessment reaches 83.157% with a very valid category, (3) Linguistics expert assessment, namely SMKN 2 Educators Padang reached 97.89% with a very valid category, and (4) Expert assessment reached 84.21% with a very valid category. Interactive multimedia also meets the practical criteria from the questionnaire responses of three students who have carried out One-to-One Evaluation with a percentage of 84.44%. While the results of the student response questionnaire on the Small Group Evaluation with a percentage of 92.22% the criteria are very practical.  Keywords – Research development, android, interactive multimedia, Smart Apps Creator

Abstract

Mathematical communication skills of students are most important part in achieving to goals of mathematics learning. However, in reality the mathematics communications skills of students are still low. This happens to class VIII of SMPN 31 Padang. The reasons is the learning approach used has not been able to facilititate and develop this abbilities properly. One of the effort made to overcome this is Realistics Mathematics Educations (RME) approach. This type research is a quasi-experimental and descriptive used the design of Static Goup Comparison. Based on the result it was found that mathematical communication skills of student who learn with RME approach are better than conventional lerning.Keywords –  Mathematics Communication Skill, RME, Convensional Learning

Abstract

The research background was the inability of students to monitor the concepts and strategies used in accordance with the problems given, like the inability of students to control the results obtained. Besides that, students' metacognitive ability to math problem solving is still low. The research purpose was to determine students' metacognitive abilities in mathematical problem solving problems. This research type was exploratory qualitative research. The research subjects were class XI students of SMA Negeri 9 Padang in the 2022/2023 academic year, which consisted of 24 students. Qualitative methods are used in this study because the problems encountered are holistic. Data collection was condcuted by administering tests, questionnaires, and interviews. The main instruments in this research were researchers and supporting instruments in consist of matrix metacognitive tests, metacognitive ability questionnaires, and interview guides. The techniques for data analysis were reduction of data, presentation of data, and conclusions in drawing. The validity of data guarantee technique is technical triangulation. The research results shown that there are three categories of students' metacognitive abilities, namely high, medium, and low metacognitive abilities. The highest percentage is students with high metacognitive abilities, followed by metacognitive abilities in medium and low. Students who have high metacognitive abilities fulfill every planning, monitoring, and evaluation activity. Students who have moderate abilities of metacognition have fulfilled the indicators in planning activities, while in monitoring and evaluation activities there were still indicators that have not been fulfilled. Students who have low abilities of metacognitive still have many indicators on abilities of metacognitive that have not been able to be met. Keywords– Metacognition Abilities, Problem Solving Questions

Abstract

Matematical communication skill is an essential component and should be accomplished in mathematics learning. The observation results indicate that the mathematical communication skill of the students in SMPN 7 Padang was still low. Therefore, a research was carried out in order to improve students’ mathematical communication skill by adjusting the Think Talk Write and Mind Mapping (TTW-MM) cooperative learning model. The kind of research was quasy experimental and descriptive with Randomized Control-Group Only Design. Based on the research, it was concluded that the development of mathematical communication skill of students whose during learning process using TTW-MM model has increased, and mathematical communication skill of students whose learning process using TTW-MM model was better than mathematical communication skill of students whose learning with conventional learning. Keywords — Mathematical Communication Skills, Cooperative Learning Model, Think Talk Write, Mind Mapping

Abstract

The mathematics curriculum emphasizes problem solving. This skill can help learners understand mathematical concepts and solve complex problems by making them more concrete. Experience in the field shows that this ability is still weak. Daily tests on SPLTV material in Class X of SMA Adabiah 2 Padang TP 2022/2023 show this inability. Problem-based learning (PBL) can overcome this problem. This study aims to determine whether students taught with PBL can solve math problems better than those taught directly and how this ability develops. This research is quasi-experimental and descriptive and uses a static group design. The population was grade XI of Adabiah 2 Padang High School. Quizzes and tests showed that the PBL approach improved all indicators. Hypothesis results showed rejection of H0 because P-value < α. Then, learners with PBL solve math problems better than direct learning.Keywords– Problem Based Learning, mathematical problem solving abilities

Abstract

Mathematical communication is one of the abilities that must be possessed by students in mathematics learning. However, in reality the mathematical communication skills of students in class VIII SMPN 8 Padang were still relatively low. Efforts to overcome these problems were by implementing learning models that could make students active and able to communicate mathematically. One of the learning models is the TTW cooperative learning model. This study aimed to determine whether the mathematical communication skills of students who apply the TTW type cooperative learning model were better than the mathematical communication skills of students who learning with conventional learning models in class VIII of SMP 8 Padang in the academic year 2018/2019. This type of research was quasi-experiment with static group design, with a population of eighth grade students of SMP 8 Padang in the academic year 2018/2019. Sampling was done by random sampling technique, students in class VIII C as the experimental class and class VIII F as the control class. The instrument used the final test in the form of essay questions to see students' mathematical communication skills. Data analysis was performed bytest Mann Whitney U-. Based on the analysis of research data atit is obtained P-value = 0.0000, because the P-value, then reject. So, it can be concluded that the mathematical communication skills of students whose learning using the TTW cooperative learning model is better than students who use conventional learning models.Keywords—Mathematical Communication ability, TTW, Cooperatif Learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop a Mathematics Module with Quick Response Code Technology on Linear Equations that is valid and practical to support the success of the mathematics learning process for class VIII SMP/MTs. This module uses the Plomp development model which consists of 3 stages, namely the preliminary research, the development or prototyping and the assessment. The subjects of this research were 12 students grade VIII of SMPN 6 SOLSEL. The instruments used are validity sheets and practicality sheets .The mathematics module is valid with 83.81% results in the valid category. Practicality based on student response questionnaires. The results of the questionnaire obtained a practical value of 80.43% with a practical category. Thrus, it can be said that the Mathematics Module with Quick Response Code Technology on Line Equation Material for Class VIII SMP/MTs that has been produced can be declared valid and practical. Keywords – Development, Linear equation ,Module, Quick Response Code
