Abstract

Understanding the concept is a basic ability that must be possesed by every student. In fact understanding mathematic concept of at grade VII in SMPN 34 Padang still low. This can be seen the first ability test results show the students haven’t been able to solve the problems givem to each indicator. One of the efforts to overcome this problem is to apply the CTL approach. The type of this research is study literature sourced from journals, scientific articles related with understanding mathematic concept and CTL approach. Based on the analysis of journals, it was found that there was an increase in the activity and understanding mathematic concept after the implementation of the CTL approach and each indicator on understanding mathematic concept can be improve through the principles of CTL. So it can ve conclution that CTL approach has a tendency to improve understanding mathematic concept of students. Keywords—Contextual Teaching and Learning approach, Study literature, Understanding of mathematical concepts

Abstract

Understanding of mathematical concept is one of basic skills that must be developed in according to the purpose of learning. However, the reality at school shows that students' understanding of mathematical concepts is still low. Cooperative learning model type TAI can be used as a solution. The purpose of this research is to compare students’ understanding of mathematical concepts who learn with cooperative learning model type TAI and conventional approach. This type of research is a quasi experiment with static group design. The instruments is tests of understanding of mathematical concepts. Based on data analysis concluded that cooperative learning model type TAI gives positive influences to the student’s understanding of mathematical concepts in class VIII SMP Negeri 22 Padang.Keywords – Understanding of mathematical concept, Cooperative Learning, Team Assisted Individualization (TAI)

Abstract

The 2013 curriculum is designed so that students can be active, creative and innovative and enthusiastic in constructing their own knowledge. However, in reality, students tend to be passive in learning and are not used to constructing their own knowledge. The teaching materials used are Kemendikbud 2013 books and LKPD which are designed for other people. Due to time and IT constraints, LKPD has not been designed specifically. This resulted in the absence of a valid and practical LKPD. This study aims to produce LKPD based on the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach that is valid and practical, for class XI high school students. This type of research is design research that uses the Plomp development model, which consists of the preliminary research stage and the prototype stage. The preliminary research stage consists of curriculum analysis, concept analysis and student analysis. The prototyping stage consists of 4 stages carried out in the LKPD design. In prototype 1, a self-evaluation (self-evaluation) was carried out. In prototype 2, an expert review was carried out which was evaluated by experts to obtain a valid prototype. In prototype 3, a one-to-one evaluation was carried out by testing the LKPD on three students with heterogeneous abilities level. In prototype 4, a small group evaluation stage was carried out for six students with heterogeneous ability levels, which aimed to determine the practicality of the LKPD. From the research that has been done, it is found that the CTL Approach-Based Student Worksheet on the subject matrix has a validity level of 88.98% with very valid criteria (based on three experts, namely two mathematicians and one linguist). LKPD also has a level of practicality with a very practical category of 85.76% by students and 89.94% by educators.Keywords - LKPD, Contextual Teaching and Learning, valid, practica

Abstract

Conceptual understanding is a basic thing that should be owned by students. Learning process in school is still teacher-centered. Teachers are the ones that active in the class while students are not contributive enough. Thus, student’s understanding is still low. One of ways to increase student’s understanding is by applying learning method named Connecting Organizing reflecting Extending (CORE). The aim of this research is to describe if student’s understanding of math concepts would be better by experiental group or controlled group. This is quasi experiment by using Static Group Design. Abstract

Mathematical communication skill is one of learning objective in mathematics. However, in reality the communication of mathematical skills by class VIII student at SMPN 3 Lubuk Basung are still lack. One solution to increase mathematical communication skills is the use a Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD), a model of cooperative learning. The study purpose was to determine whether the mathematical communication skill of studentsworking with the STAD model are better than those of students using direct learning. This study type was a researchin quasy-experimental design with posttest only control group design. The research data were obtained by test of mathematical communication skills. Data analysis concluded that students using the STAD model performed better in mathematical communication skills than those using direct learning. Keywords–Cooperative Learning, Student Teams Achievement Divisions, Mathematical Communication Skills.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an e-module based on realistic mathematics education in integer material of class VII SMP which is valid and practical. This type of research is a design research type of development studies with the Plomp development model which consists of three stages, namely preliminary research, development or prototyping phase, and assessment phase. The research is in SMPN 3 Batusangkar to students of class VII.2 and VII.3. The date is the qualitative and quantitative data. The data collection instruments were validity instruments and practicality instruments. The data obtained were then analyzed using quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques. Based on the validation results, the e-module is considered valid with a validity level of 89.44%. The results of the students' responses describe this e-module that is practical to be applied in learning. This was shown in the one-to-one evaluation stage the practicality level was 92.42% and at the small group evaluation stage, the practicality level was 94.24%.Keywords: e-module, Realistic Mathematics Education, valid, practical

Abstract

If pupils lack the ability to answer problems, it will be difficult for them to meet the learning objectives for mathematics. However, class VIII pupils at SMP Negeri 22 Padang still have poor mathematics problem-solving skills. TSTS was chosen to overcome this. This type of study combines a Static Group Design research design with descriptive and quasi-experimental research. The sampling procedure employs simple random sampling. Class VIII.A is the experimental class and class VIII.B is the control class. The P-value is 0.016 (α = 0.05), meaning that H0 is rejected, so mathematical problem solving abilities are better when taught using the TSTS model than students who are taught using the conventional model.Keywords– TSTS, Mathematical Problem Solving, Conventional Learning

Abstract

Based on the results of daily test scores at SMAN 2 Painan, it was found that students' mathematical problem solving abilities were not optimal. This must be overcome because problem solving ability is one of the goals of mathematics learning. The 7E Learning Cycle learning model is one solution to this problem. The purpose of this study is to compare whether the mathematical problem solving abilities of students studying with the 7E Learning Cycle learning model are better than the mathematical problem solving abilities of students who learn with direct learning models in class XI of SMAN 2 Painan. Based on the test results, there is an increase in the ability of students studying with the 7E Learning Cycle model good than mathematical problem solving abilities of students who learn with direct learning models. Abstract

This research aims to describe the mathematical communication skills of student who apply  the Quantum Teaching model and describe learning activities while the Quantum Teaching model is applied in class VIII SMPN 34 Padang. This type pf research Pre-Experiment with One Shot Case Study design. The subject of this study were students of class VIII SMPN 34 Padang in the academic year 2021/2022 with class VIII.2 as the subject class. The research instrument is a test of mathematical communication skills in the form of essay questions which are analyzed by finding the average class value of the subject then qualified. Based on data analysis, it was found that the average result of the mathematical communication ability test of the students in the subject class was 64,44. After the average is qualified, the mathematical communication skilss of students who learn by applying the Quantum Teaching model are in the good category.Keywords—Mathematical Communication Skills, Pre-Experiment, Quantum Teaching

The purpose of this study was to find out whether the mathematical communication abilities of students who studied with the Think Talk Write cooperative learning model were better than those who learned with direct learningiin class XI MIPA students at SMAN 5 Padangsidimpuan. The typeiof reseach used is quasi-experimentaliresearch with a non-equivalent posttest only kontrol groupidesign. Theipopulation inithis study were all studentsiin class XI MIPA at SMAN 5 Padangsidimpuan for the 2022/2023 acadmic year. Samplesiwere taken using the Simple RandomiSampling technique. The instrument used is in theiform of a testiof mathematicalicommunication skills. Basedion the analysis of the test of matematical communication skills, P-value = 0.022 was obtained. Because the P-value iis less than α = 0.05, it meansithat there is influence from the application of the ThinkiTalk Writeicooperativeilearning model on students' mathematical communicationiskills. Keywords – ThinkiTalk Write, MathematicaliCommunication Ability
