Abstract

An important ability for students during the learning process is mathematical communication skills. The assessment results of grade IX students of SMPN 7 Padang show that this ability is still relatively lacking. This study examines the implementation of the Discovery Learning model making students have mathematical communication skills that are superior to the implementation of direct models. The research design uses a non-equivalent Posttest with a quasi-experimental type of research. Students who implement the Discovery Learning model have higher mathematical communication skills than the implementation of the direct model.Keywords– Model Discovery Learning, Mathematical Communication, Direct Learning

Abstract

Mathematics communication is one of mathematics ability that must be mastered by students’. But, in the fact, students’ mathematic communication of grade 11 SMAN 1 Baso were still low. The learning was still teacher centered. One of solutions was to apply cooperative learning model type Think Pair Share (TPS). Type of research was quasi experiment with Static Group Design. Based on the results of data analysis using t-tests, it is obtained P-value = 0.020 < =0.05, so it is conclude students’ mathematics communication who learn with cooperative model type TPS is better that conventional learning.Keywords – Conventional Learning, CooperativesLearning, Mathematical Communications, Think Pair                        Share.

Abstract

Problem-solving ability is one of learning of mathematics purpose. But activities of learning are not optimal in facilitating students to increase their skills of problem-solving. The test results shown that the skills of problem-solving at SMAN 1 Bonjol is still low. One of the efforts to enhance students' skills of problem-solving is to apply the inquiry learning model. This study purpose was to reveal the effect of the inquiry model of learning on the skills of problem-solving in mathematical of the XI MIPA class students of SMAN 1 Bonjol. This research type was a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent posttest control group-only design. The population is all students of class XI MIPA. Sampling was conducted by simple random sampling of class XI MIPA 3 as the class for experimental and XI MIPA 4 as the class for control. The research instrument is consist of a problem-solving skills test. Based on the data analysis results obtained P-value = 0.008 where P-value <0.05. It can be concluded that the skills of problem-solving on students who study with the inquiry of model learning is better than students who learn with the learning on direct model in class XI MIPA SMAN 1 Bonjol. Keywords– , Direct Learning Model, Inquiry Learning Model, Problem Solving Ability, Quasi Experiment

Abstract

Understanding of mathematical concepts is one of the learning objectives that must be mastered by students. However, in reality at SMPN 4 V Koto Kampung Dalam, class VIII students' understanding of the concepts is still not optimal. One effort to increase students' understanding of mathematical concepts is to apply the Formulate Share Listen Create learning model. The purpose of this research is to describe whether students' understanding of concepts who learn with the Formulate Share Listen Create learning model is better than those who use conventional learning models in class VIII SMPN 4 V Koto Kampung Dalam. This type of research is quasi-experimental with a non-equivalent posttest only control group design. The population in this study were class VIII students at SMPN 4 V Koto Kampung Dalam for the 2022/2023 academic year. Abstract

Thestudent lunderstandingsmathematical iconcept ability is one of ithe mathematicslearning goals that are expected to be archived by students. However, the understanding mathematical concept ability  of  SMPN 4 Padang students is not as expected. There are some effort that could be used to improve students understanding mathematical concept  ability.One of them by applying cooperatives learning model type Numbered Heads Together (NHT). The aims of this study was to describe whether the understanding mathematical concept ability of students learning by using the cooperatives learning model type NHT better than the studentsx who learn usings conven-tional learningmodel. This research typewas quasi-experimental with the research designs usinglStatich Groupd Design. The resulte show that the understanding mathematical conceptd ability of students who learn using the cooperatives learning modeltype NHT has increase. Furthermore, based con the resultl of the hypothesis test, it is find that the understanding  mathematical concept ability of students who learnusing the cooperatives learning model type NHT model are better than the understanding  mathematical concept ability of students who learn using the conventional learning model. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of emotional intelligence on student learning outcomes. The type of research used is a combination of Ex Post Facto and descriptive with a quantitative research approach. The population is students of class XI MIPA. The sample collection technique used purposive sampling, the sample of 71 respondents was taken. Data collection used emotional intelligence questionnaires and final exam scores in semester 1 of specialization in mathematics. The data analysis used descriptive statistical analysis and simple linear regression analysis with a significant level of 10%. The results of the calculation of descriptive statistical analysis for the emotional intelligence variable obtained an average of 81,37 categorized as moderate, and the mathematics learning outcomes variable obtained an average of 77,04 categorized as moderate. The results of the regression calculation obtained a P-value of 0.084 <α = 0,1, with a value of R2 = 4,27%, which means that emotional intelligence has an effect of 4.27% on mathematics learning outcomes. The conclusion in this study is that there is an effect of emotional intelligence on mathematics learning outcomes in class XI MIPA SMA Negeri 5 Padang. Keywords- emotional intelligence, learning outcomes, mathematics

Abstract

Students should learn mathematical problem-solving. This is still lacking in classrooms. For this, Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) was used. This study will examine if the approach used to teach VIII graders at SMPN 1 Gunung Talang is better than the standard approach. This pseudo-experimental study uses Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design. This study examined SMP 1 Gunung Talang VIII graders' demographics. Basic random sampling picked class VIII-1 as the experimental group and class VIII-2 as the control group. Math problem-solving ability test data analysis yielded a 0.00 P-value. At a significance threshold (α) of 0.05, the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected as the P-value is below α. RME pupils outperform Conventional students in class VIII SMPN 1 Gunung Talang.Keywords– Mathematical Problem Solving Abilities, RME

Abstract

Abilityyof mathematicall understanding concepts isi one of mathematics learning purpose. Observations which hadi been done iniclass VII SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP showed that mathematics llearning process was not able to improved students'imathematical understanding concepts optimally. Abstract

This study aims to develop a learning materials in the form mathematics module based on Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach on cartesian coordinat material in the grade VIII SMP. This design uses the Plomp development model consisting of preliminary research, prototyping phase, and assesment phase. The data collection instrument used were interview of sheets, list of ceklis observation of sheets, and questionnaires. Result showed that quality of modul is very valid with construct aspect has characteristics and priciples of the CTL approach, content arranged base on curriculum, language aspect, and graphical aspect. Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving ability is one of the most important ability to expand in mathematical learning. In fact, mathematical problem-solving ability is not yet optimal especially in grade 12 students of SMA Negeri 1 Kepahiang. One of the solution given is implement Search, Solve, Create, and Share learning model. The research’s aims are to analyze whether mathematical problem-solving ability of students that using SSCS learning model is better than the students that using direct learning and also to describe their ability who using SSCS model learning. The research methods are quasi-experiment and descriptive using Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group design. Hypothesis is tested using Mann Whitney U test with result P-Value = 0,000 which means reject H0. The conclusion is mathematical problem-solving of students that using SSCS learning model is better than students that using direct learning in grade 12 of SMA Negeri 1 Kepahiang.Keywords — Mathematical Problem-Solving Ability, SSCS Learning Model, Direct Learning
