Abstract

This study aims to see how the influence of motivation on mathematics learning outcomes of class VII students of UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Kec. Kapur IX. Learning outcomes good and rewarding comes to students when learning motivation both from whitin and from outside the great student. The study is a descriptive quantitative research whit a correlational approach to influence between variables and other variables. The data analysis shows that the coefficient value of correlation rcount (0,926) is greater that the rtable (0,273) at significant of 5% and has an impact of 85%, which means influence the learning motivation to learning outcomes mathematics is 85% and the rest are affected by other uninvolved variables in the study. Keywords – Descriptive Research, Learning Motivation, Learning Outcomes

Abstract

─ The capacity to solve mathematical problems plays a significant role in the math learning process. However, students at SMPN 12 Padang showed Students at SMPN 12 Padang showed a low degree of proficiency in solving problems in mathematics. Therefore, a study was conducted to illustrate the ability of learners using the SSCS learning model to solve mathematical problems more effectively than the mathematical problem-solving abilities of learners in SMPN 12 Padang's class VIII who used the conventional learning model. Quasi-experiment with randomised posttest-only control group design. According to the data analysis results, the P-value was 0.000 and the significance level was 0.05. Due to the P-value being less than 0.05, the null hypothesis (H_0) is rejected. Thus, It may be said that learners who apply the SSCS learning model have more effective problem-solving abilities than students who use the conventional learning model.Keywords ─ Mathematical problem-solving ability, SSCS

Abstract

Problem solving ability is one of the goals of mathematical learning that must be owned by student. But learning activities is not optimal in facilitating student to improve problem solving ability, so result of test show that student problem solving ability of SMPN 2 Lubuk Alung is still low. One of effort to overcome this problem is to apply Learning Cycle 5E model. The purpose of  the research is to describe whether problem solving ability of student who learn by using Learning Cycle 5E is more better than student who learn by using conventional learning in class IX SMPN 2 Lubuk Alung. This type of research is quasy experiment  with static group design. The population is all of student in class IX SMPN 2 Lubuk Alung. The sample taking by random sampling, class IX 1 as an experiment class and IX 2 as an control class. The Instrument is used by test of problem solving ability. Based on the result of data analysis, it is got P-value = 0,01 where P-value is less than . It was concluded that problem solving ability of student who learn by using Learning Cycle 5E model is more better than student who learn by using conventional learning in class IX SMPN 2 Lubuk Alung. Keywords – Learning Cycle 5E, Problem Solving Ability

Abstract

Interactive media is a means of supporting learning that can increase interest and motivation to learn and affect the psychology of students so that learning becomes easier. Interactive media help students understand the learning material and develop their critical thinking skills. This study intends to develop an interactive learning media based on constructivists that is valid and practical on flat-sided building materials in class VIII SMP / MTs. This type of research is development using the Plomp model. The plomp model is composed of Preliminary, Prototyping and Assessment Phase. In the introduction, needs analysis, student analysis, curriculum analysis, and concept analysis were carried out. The prototyping stage is in the form of designing interactive learning media. In prototype 1, self evaluation and expert review are carried out. Expert review was conducted to see the validity of the developed interactive learning media. In prototype 2, a one-to-one evaluation trial was carried out by testing interactive media with three students. The result of the research shows that constructivist based interactive media on the flat side space building material has a validity level in the very valid category.  Interactive media has a practicality level in the very practical category. Abstract

One of the core mathematical talents is the ability to solve problems. Children still struggle to solve math problems in practice, though. One solution to this is to use the Geogebra-assisted Problem Based Learning methodology. The goal of this study was to find out whether students in grade VIII at SMP Negeri 13 Padang who used Problem Based Learning with Geogebra performed better on arithmetic problems than those who utilized direct learning. With a control group that merely obtains a non-equivalent posttest, this kind of research is a pseudo-experiment. The research population was composed of classes VIII.2 and VIII.5, which served as the experimental and control groups, respectively. An assessment of one's aptitude for solving mathematical problems served as a research tool. To assess the hypothesis, use the t-test. The study's findings and data analysis led to the conclusion that students in grade VIII at SMP Negeri 13 Padang who were taught using the Problem Based Learning learning model with Geogebra had superior mathematical problem-solving abilities compared to those who were taught using the direct learning model.Keywords – Problem Based Learning, Geogebra, Mathmatical Problem Solving Ability.

Abstract

The mathematical  communication  skills is one of the capabilities  that must be possessed by each learners. This study aims to determine the effect of mathematical  communication  skills learning using think talk write type learning model with conventional  learning.  This type  of research  is a pseudo  experiment  with the design  of research  static  group design. Data on the mathematical  communication  skills of learners  were taken through the result of communication skills tests and analyzed by using U Mann Whitney test. The result showed that the mathematical communication  skills of learners using the TTW type learning model is better than the conventional  learning mathematical  communication skills of learners using the conventional learning. Keywords — mathematical communication skills, Think Talk Write, conventional learning.

Abstract

This research has purpose to produce a valid and practical interactive learning multimedia based on discovery learning in the circle material of class VIII Junior High School. This research is a development research using the Plomp development model. The development procedure consists of three stages which include: (a) preliminary research phase, (b) development phase or prototyping phase and (c) assessment phase. At the preliminary research stage requires needs analysis, student analysis, curriculum analysis, and concept analysis. At the prototyping phase the product was designed using the Macromedia Flash Professional 8 application based on the discovery learning model. Furthermore, the product will be evaluated to obtain valid criteria through self-evaluation and expert reviews. After the product was declared valid, a one-to-one evaluation was conducted to obtain suggestions from students. In the assessment phase, a small group evaluation was carried out to obtain practicality. The results showed that the interactive learning multimedia based on discovery learning in the circle material of class VIII SMP was valid and practical. Keywords—Interactive learning multimedia, discovery learning, Plomp.

Abstract

Good learning outcomes make things important for students. However, the thing that is often faced in learning mathematics is the low learning outcomes of students. The learning outcomes of students of class XI MIPA SMA 3 Bukittinggi are still relatively low and the learning process has not been carried out optimally. The solution applied is the TSTS type of cooperative learning model. The purpose of this study is to describe the difference in learning outcomes of students who study with the cooperative learning model TSTS type with students who learn by direct learning and describe the development of learning activities of students who learn with cooperative learning models of TSTS type in the XI MIPA class of SMA Negeri 3 Bukitiinggi..This type of research is quasy experiment and research design of Static Group Design. The population of this research is the students of class XI MIPA of SMA Negeri 3 Bukittinggi. The sampling technique uses Simple Random Sampling Data technique so that the class XI MIPA 1 is obtained as an experimental class and XI MIPA 3 as a control class. Collecting data in research through student learning activities and final test data in the form of learning outcomes tests that are analyzed by t test.Based on the results of the study showed the learning activities of students tended to increase after the TSTS type of cooperative learning model was applied. Based on the analysis of the final test results was obtained at the real level ???? = 0.05 which means that the learning outcomes of students who applied the TSTS type of cooperative learning model were better than those of students learning with direct learning in the XI MIPA class of SMA 3 Bukittinggi, therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence on the application of the TSTS type cooperative model to the learning outcomes of students of the XI MIPA grade 3 SMA Negeri Bukittinggi.Keywords – TSTS (Two Stray Two Stray, learning outcomes)

Abstract

One of the goals of learning mathematics is so that students have a good understanding of concepts. However, in reality the understanding of students' concepts at SMPN 4 Padang is still low. One solution that can be used to overcome these problems is to use an ethnomathematical approach that is oriented towards carving motifs on the rumah gadang. The purpose of this study was to determine and describe the development of the ability to understand mathematical concepts of grade IX students of SMP N 4 Padang after using the Ethnomathematical Approach. Based on data analysis, concluded that the development of students' conceptual understanding using an ethnomathematical approach oriented to carving motifs in the rumah gadang in class IX of SMPN 4 Padang experienced an increase in several indicators of concept understanding, that is restating the concept, classifying objects based on whether or not the requirements were met, form concepts, identify the properties of operations or concepts, apply concepts logically, provide examples and non-examples of concepts, present concepts in various forms of mathematical representation, and connect various concepts in mathematics and outside mathematics. Keywords – Concept Understanding, Ethnomathematical Approach, Rumah Gadang

Abstract

Understanding of mathematical concepts is one of the learning objectives of mathematics that must be mastered by students. However, based on the result of test in SMAN 12 Padang, it is known that students’ understanding of mathematical concept is still low. The solution to overcome this problem is to apply the Think Pair Square (TPSq) cooperative learning model. The purpose of this study was to describe the development of student’s understanding of mathematical concept during the application of TPSq cooperative learning model and to analyze and describe whether the student’s understanding of mathematical concepts who learn with TPSq cooperative learning model is better than those who learn with direct learning model in class XI MIPA SMAN 12 Padang. This type of research is a quasi-experimental with the The Non-equivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design. Sampling was conducted using Simple Random Sampling technique, and selected class XI MIPA 5 as the experimental class while class XI MIPA 6 as the control class. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that students’ understanding of mathematical concept who learn with TPSq cooperative learning model is better than those who learn with direct learning model in class XI MIPA SMAN 12 Padang.Kata Kunci - Understanding of Mathematical Concepts, Think Pair Square (TPSq)
