Abstract

A person's skills in solving mathematical problems have become an essential component in mathematics learning. However, initial test data on problem-solving competence from students at SMP Negeri 1 Solok, particularly in grade VIII, indicate that these skills need improvement. In this case, the implementation of the REACT learning model can be beneficial. This research examines the impact of using the REACT learning model on students' proficiency in solving mathematical problems. The research was conducted using a quasi-experiment with a Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The hypothesis test yielded a P-value of 0.000, indicating the rejection of H0. This result shows that the REACT learning model significantly influences on students' competence to solve mathematical problems in grade VIII at SMP Negeri 1 Solok. Keywords– Competence in solving mathematical problems, REACT Learning Model, Conventional Learning Model

Abstract

Using varied mathematical literacy behavior, this project seeks to establish a problem-based LKPD that is legitimate, practical, and effective. This study use the Plomp model for development purposes. Preliminary analysis, development, and assessment are the three phases that make up this development research. In the first round of analysis, we looked at things like student characteristics, needs, curriculum, and ideas. Additionally, works on developing and evaluating the developed items are completed. The digital LKPD that introduced problem-based mathematical literacy was found to be legitimate, practicable, and effective, according to the results. With a validity level of 84%, digital LKPD is considered very valid by professionals. Based on student replies, digital LKPD is deemed very practical at the one-to-one evaluation stage (85.3% practicality level) and at the small group evaluation stage (84.62% practicality level). Because it influences students' mathematical literacy behavior in a favorable way, digital LKPD can be deemed effective. This may be based on the results of the final math literacy test taken by all children in the small group experiment, who were previously categorized as either regular or superior behavers. Keywords– Differentiated Learning, LKPD Development, Mathematical Literacy Behavior, Pythagorean Theorem

Abstract

Good communication skills are essential for learners. Inappropriate teaching practices have resulted in a lack of mathematics communication abilities among E phase students at SMAN 1 Solok Selatan. This issue can be resolved through problem-based learning. Mathematical communication skills were contrasted in this study with more conventional methods. This quasi-experimental research has a nonequivalent posttest-only control group design. During the 2023/2024 academic year, phase E students from SMAN 1 Solok Selatan made up the study's population. Simple Random Sampling was used to select the samples. The control group consisted of E7, while the experimental group consisted of E1. Afterwards, the kids' ability to express themselves mathematically was tested. Students' mathematics communication was enhanced through Problem-Based Learning. The null hypothesis (H0) was dismissed with a p-value of 0.016 (P-value < α) when the significance level was set at 0.05. Students' mathematical communication abilities are enhanced more effectively by Problem-Based Learning (PBL) compared to the usual learning model in SMAN 1 Solok Selatan Phase E.Keywords – Mathematical Communication Skills, Problem Based Learning Model, Conventional Model.

Abstract

Learning to solve problems effectively is the main reason why people learn maths. Actually, though, this is still significantly below than the standard that students have come to expect. One approach to making the most of this potential is the Means Ends Analysis learning paradigm. This research set out to evaluate the efficacy of two distinct approaches to teaching number patterns to eighth graders at SMPN 1 Payakumbuh: the conventional wisdom model and the more modern Means Ends Analysis model. The research utilized a control group design that solely included posttests. Results showed that eighth graders at SMPN 1 Payakumbuh made more progress using the MEA model than with the old model. Keywords– Means Ends Analysis,Mathematical Problem Solving, Conventional

Abstract

Abstract The motivation behind this study is to decide the legitimacy of science e-modules in light of different insights to further develop the numerical critical thinking skill of grade VIII SMP/MTsN understudies. The subjects of this study were 31 grade VII understudies and one arithmetic teacher from SMPN 15 Padang. Information investigation methods are separated as per their stages, remembering for pleminary researc (fundamental investigation) information will be gotten from the outcomes of meetings as well as perceptions of quantitative information examination stages, to be specific diminishing information, introducing information and making inferences. Besides, for the consequences of item legitimacy information by specialists at the advancement stage, an investigation of the information got utilizing the Likert scale was done. The consequences of the review got the in general normal legitimacy of the emodule was 81.64% with a substantial class. The subtleties for material substance markers are 79.6% with legitimate classes, for show achievability markers 83.51% with substantial classifications, then, at that point, show practicality markers 82.11% with substantial classes, language pointers with a worth of 81.6%, at long last learning markers in view of different insights with a worth of 81.4% with legitimate classifications. In light of the clarification over, the compound insight based module to further develop the numerical critical thinking skill of grade VIII SMP/MTsN understudies.Keyword  - Emodule, Multiple Intelligence, Problem Solving

Abstract

One of the goals of learning mathematics is to improve students' ability to express their mathematical thinking in oral, written and graphic form and to understand mathematical models. However, the level of ability of class IX students at SMPN 1 Tilatang Kamang in this regard is still less than optimal. By using the Quantum Teaching (QT) learning method you can overcome this problem. This research is focused on finding out whether class IX students at SMPN 1 Tilatang Kamang who use the QT method can outperform their friends in conventional mathematics classes. This research uses descriptive and pseudo. Class IX.6 was the experimental class and class IX.4 was the control class in this study, which was selected using a simple random sampling technique. The hypothesis test result of the sample class is 0.024 so  is rejected. Based on this, it can be concluded that by using the QT model the ability of class IX students at SMPN 1 Tilatang Kamang in communicating mathematical ideas is better than students with conventional learning. Keywords– Mathematical Communication Skills, Quantum Teaching Learning Model, Conventional Learning

Abstract

The primary objective of student learning is to acquire proficiency in mathematical problem-solving skills. However, their mathematical problem solving skills are still inadequate. Problem-Based Learning (PBL) with Articulate Storyline as learning media is suggested to overcome this problem. This study tested whether PBL can improve students' mathematical problem solving ability on SPLDV material compared to conventional learning in class VIII MTsN 1 Padangsidimpuan. This study used Posttest-Only Control Group Design, a pseudo experiment. Data analysis showed that students in class VIII MTsN 1 Padangsidimpuan who were taught with PBL and Articulate Storyline had superior problem solving skills than students who were taught conventionally.

Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving proficiency is an important talent that math educators want to develop in their students.  However, this ability in students is still very poor and substandard. Some people have proposed the CTL model as a way to overcome this problem. The purpose of this study is to compare the problem solving skills of eighth grade students at SMPN 16 Padang when taught Number Patterns using two different approaches: the conventional classroom method and the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach. By using a control group that only participated in the post-test, this study used a quasi-experimental approach. When comparing the CTL model with the conventional model, eighth grade students at SMPN 16 Padang who used the CTL model showed better results. Keywords– Contextual Teaching and Learning, Conventional Learning, Mathematical Solving Ability
