Abstract

Multiplication is the most difficult basic arithmetic operation and has been documented since 1980. Another multiplication difficulty dealing with story problems, they tend to assume that multiplication produces a larger result and the other way for division. Several studies show basic mathematics as one of the cognitive factors that affect the financial literacy ability of each individual. This study used a qualitative descriptive analysis with the subject of three students from different schools and geographical locations. Basic mathematics as one of the cognitive factors that affect the financial literacy ability of each individual The introduction of cases such as ordering through online applications in learning mathematics may improve students' knowledge about activities related to finance. Individual context is important in personal financial management since the decision pertains to the fulfilment of personal needs.

Abstract

Students' ability in Indonesia has decreased due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so the Government provides solutions to restore learning in Indonesia through a Merdeka curriculum. The impact on schools, especially mathematics subjects, decreased mathematical problem-solving abilities. The decreasing ability of students to solve problems requires a test instrument based on the SOLO taxonomy. The formative research model is the type of this research. The stages in the model are preliminary and formative evaluation. Stages such as self-evaluation, expert review, one-to-one, small group, and field tests are the stages in formative evaluation. Based on the validation results of the four validators, the average score of the material aspect validation results is 94% with a very valid category, the average score for the constructed aspect is 87% with a very valid category, the average score for the language aspect is 92% with a very valid category, and the average score of all aspects is 91% with a very valid category so that the test instrument developed is categorized as very valid. The trial subjects in this study were conducted at SMAN 15 Pekanbaru, SMAN 12 Pekanbaru, MAN 3 Pekanbaru and SMA Plus Pekanbaru. Quantitative data is used as data analysis in this study. The research results that have been carried out from 20 questions, obtained from as many as 18 questions based on the SOLO taxonomy, have been tested and declared valid and reliable with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.871.

Abstract

Conventional mathematics learning is felt to be less interesting and boring for students. Students need innovative learning and make students active in learning. To improve students' understanding of learning mathematics, innovation is needed in innovative learning media. This study aims to produce a product in the form of virtual reality media in mathematics learning based on the group investigation model. This study uses the ADDIE research method with analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. Before being tested, the media was validated by a media expert validator with a result of 86% in the "Very Good" category and a material expert with an assessment result of 94% in the "Very Good" category so that "VR Math" was declared valid. The results of the VR Math learning media trial showed that (1) the results of calculating the percentage of students' learning completeness in the experimental class were 90%, (2) the average learning outcomes of the experimental class were better than the control class, (3) there was an increase indicated by a score of N -0.76 gain in the “High” category. Based on the results of the trial, the VR Math learning media was effective for group investigation-based mathematics learning based on the effectiveness indicator, namely achieving 90% classical learning mastery, the experimental class learning outcomes were better than the control class, and there was an increase

Abstract

This paper aims to describe an innovative Teacher Professional Development Program (TPDP) to develop pre-service mathematics teachers’ curriculum knowledge. The participants of this study were eighteen pre-service mathematics teachers who have not learned about curriculum as a course in their teacher education program. Two different instruments to measure Pre-Service Teacher Curriculum Knowledge in the domain of statistics and algebra were delivered before and after the TPDP. The innovative TPDP for pre-service teachers in this study considered the current school mathematics curriculum as an entry object of learning. Furthermore, the triangle object such as the development of curriculum among countries, essential mathematics content, as well as designing lessons were elaborated in the model. The developed TPDP and pre-service teachers' lesson designs were described and analyzed qualitatively to see the pre-service teachers' curriculum knowledge. The result of the study shows that there is an improvement in Pre-Service Teachers' Curriculum Knowledge in almost all the components of Curriculum Knowledge, except basic skills and concepts. This implies that for designing a lesson plan, pre-service mathematics teachers need to carefully understand the school mathematics structure as a whole in a brief before the basic competence is reviewed.

Abstract

This research is an ethnomathematical research that aims to explore the mathematical abilities of the Bugis people in weaving the lipa’ sabbe. This study applies a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. The data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Based on the results, it can be explained that in the process of weaving silk, the craftsmen combine the techniques of counting, designing, placing, and measuring as mathematical activity to produce various motifs. The weaver's ability to count and design motifs produces geometric planes that are transformed through a combination of reflection, translation, and dilatation. In making visualized motifs resembling curved planes such as the lagosi motif, the phinisi or the batumesang motif, they are approximated by using a collection of rectangular pixels from the arrangement of warp, weft and other motif yarns such as gold or viscose. The redesign of the silk motif uses the the number patterns identified on the arrangement of the yarns. In algebra, the lipa’ sabbe motif can be represented by a set of constant functions, parallel linear functions, or degree-n polynomial. The results of this study indicate that the mathematical concepts in lipa’ sabbe motifs are not only in the form of geometric concepts, but also include the concepts of number pattern, and algebra. Based on the manufacturing process and the resulting motifs indicate that the craftsmen have uniq mathematical abilities.
