Abstract

This paper tries to describe and analyze the role of university/academic libraries in creating an academic environment to the potential users both students, and dozen, or other institutions. Library must involve directly in the process of developing user’s scholarly communication. Academic library must be a good partner of the activities of scholarly communication, in two ways, firsly, providing channels of scholarly communication, and secondly educating to the students, such providing consultation, training, or other scientific activities. So academic library need to create soon as possible the taskforces such liaison librarian, librarian researcher, specialist subjects, to handle scientific communication activities work properly. These activities termed an invisible college, which should be showed to stakeholders and can be included as an integral part of the curriculum.Tulisan ini mencoba mendeskripsikan dan menganalisis peranan perpustakaan perguruan tinggi dalam menciptakan lingkungan akademis terhadap potensi keilmuwan pemustaka, baik mahasiswa, staf pengajar maupun sivitas lembaga lain yang sedang melangsungkan penelitian. Peran perpustakaan ini sangat strategis dalam mengaktualisasikan fungsi perpustakaan yang sesungguhnya dan tidak hanya sebagai gerbang informasi dan ilmu pengetahuan saja, sebagaimana yang sering dituliskan di berbagai tulisan, moto perpustakaan dan lain sebagainya. Fungsi yang penulis maksud adalah   fungsi yang melekat sebagai ruh perpustakaan untuk melibatkan diri secara langsung dalam proses pengembangan komunikasi ilmiah pemustaka. Dalam era informasi dan komunikasi seperti ini, perpustakaan perguruan tinggi memang harus menjadi kawan baik bagi pemustaka bahkan menjadi mitra sejati terhadap kegiatan-kegiatan komunikasi ilmiah tersebut. Menurut penulis proses ini dapat dilakukan dengan dua cara, yaitu pertama, menyediakan saluran-saluran komunikasi ilmiah, kedua memberikan pendampingan dan pendidikan baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung kepada mahasiswa. Keterlibatan langsung berarti perpustakaan memberikan layanan informasi dengan cara tatap muka, bisa dengan jalan memberikan konsultasi, pelatihan, pendidikan dan seabagainya atau bisa dengan menggunakan media komunikasi secara “real time”, sedangkan keterlibatan secara tidak langsung adalah keterlibatan perpustakaan dalam memberikan konsultasi maupun pelayanan lainnya yang tidak bisa diberikan pada saat proses query itu diberikan, seperti jawaban lewat email, lewat servlist lainnya. Proses komunikasi ilmiah tersebut harus mendapatkan perhatian serius dari tim riset perpustakaan, subject spesialis, dan pustakawan penghubung yang sengaja diciptakan agar kegiatan komunikasi ilmiah dapat ditangani dengan baik.  Sementara kegiatan komunikasi ilmiah yang disponsori perpustakaan ini bisa diistilahkan dengan invisible college, yang harus disuarakan dengan massif lewat website perpustakaan sebagai tindakan agitasi dan persuasive, sehingga diharapkan mampu menggugah stake holder di perguruan tinggi agar di kemudian hari proses-proses yang ada dalam kegiatan komunikasi ilmiah ini dapat disertakan sebagai bagian integral dari kurikulum yang dijalankan.

Abstract

The phenomenon of information explosion supported by the development of informationtechnology to overcome the required information literasi kemapuan. The ability of informationliteracy to support the activities of searching, evaluating, and using informationappropriately. Information literacy should be owned by the academic community notexcluded the school community for teachers and students. The existence of PermendikbudNo.23 of 2015 requires schools to carry out activities “School Literacy Movement includesbasic literacy, library, media technology and libraries, and sharing opportunities withrepresentatives of teachers in Counseling Teacher Consultative Forum (MGBK) SurabayaLibrary STIE Perbanas Surabaya held community service activities related to schoolliteracy improvement. The target schools include SMAN 15 Surabaya and SMA WachidHasyim 1. Literacy improvement activities include sharing information literacy activitieswith teachers, librarian lectures and competence activities of short story competitions.The results of the service activities include the establishment of cooperation related to thedevelopment of school literacy contained in the MoU, students’ understanding of schoolliteracy which reached 63% and the publication of a collection of short stories ISBN.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the information literacy patterns of the instructors in developing models of visual space intelligence. This research was conducted at the learning center “Villa Merah” Bandung. The focus of this study includes the views of the teacher’s views on information literacy and the teacher’s literacy pattern in the information seeking process. The method used in this study uses qualitative research with a type of case study research. The technique of collecting data is done through observation, interviews and through library research. Based on the results of the study, it is known that the instructors in tutoring at Villa Merah Bandung are still inaccurate in understanding what is really meant by literacy. Whereas regarding the pattern of literacy if it is associated with the stages of information retrieval based on the big six model such as the stages of problem formulation and identification, strategy formulation, determination of location and access to information, stages of use, selection and synthesis stages and evaluation stages in general the instructors in seeking information has carried out the stages of information retrieval.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the role of the school library as an information source for teachers in improving the learning process. The method used in this study is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Informants in this study were librarian and teachers of Madrasah Aliyah Mathla’ul Huda. Data collection techniques were carried out from December 2019 to February 2020 through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. Data analysis techniques in the form of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of this study indicate that the information sources in the school library have been utilized by the teachers for a source to prepare learning implementation plans to improve the learning process. Based on the research results, the school library has realized its role as an information source for teachers in the learning process through library collections. In addition, 60% of the existing collections can meet the information needs of teachers. In realizing the role as an information sources, libraries experience obstacles in developing collections due to limited budgets, so that the number of books and subjects available is still lacking in meeting the needs of teachers. In addition, the library space is lacking, so it cannot accommodate large numbers of users. Therefore, the library makes various efforts to overcome, by collaborating with various related parties such as teachers and students in the selection and collections aquicition to suit their needs; cooperating with the Principal in the development of the library, especially in budget/funds.

Abstract

Diaspora problem is part of library studies which is interested to be researched. Indonesia is a state whose strategic place for diaspora community in the past. Arabs and Tionghoas diaspora were two diaspora communities which settled Indonesian regions. Study about diaspora does undoubtedly not received more attention yet from library studies perspective.Even though the research is highly important to enrich multidisciplinary aspect within library studies. The aim of this research analyzes information regarding Arabs and Tionghoa diaspora communities in rare newspaper collection of National Library of Indonesia. The result of this research is that the National Library deposits rare newspaper collection indicating the existence of diaspora communities globally. This research uses history approach on viewing newspaper as National Libraryof Indonesia’s collection. The conclusion of this research is that the National Library does not merely posses importance meaning for local community within scope of nation state, however, that for diaspora community in the global scale.

Abstract

With the rapid changes in technology, the world’s needs for generational growth are getting increasingly intense. A superior generation necessitates a competent level of education accompanied by improved literacy skills. Schools, as educational institutions, should encourage their pupils to develop a literacy culture. The school library, as an information shelter institution in schools, should also contribute to the development of a literacy culture by providing multiple access points that children may easily ac- cess. As a result, this study was conducted to determine the role of the school library at SMAN 2 Cirebon in the development of a literacy culture among students. The research method used in the study is a descriptive qualitative method combining an interview and direct observation research method. The information obtained will be supported by research in the form of library research, which will use relevant library data to identify and describe in detail service activities at SMAN 2 Cirebon’s school library and the literacy program that has been implemented. According to the results of this study, the school library at SMAN 2 Cirebon has contributed in the development of a literacy culture among students. The literacy program that has been implemented in the school environment had a positive impact on students and encouraged them to read. The literacy program implemented by the school is deemed to be more effective because of the availability of quality services supplied by the school library. However, it is very unfortunate that the library has not digitized the library.

Abstract

A library has been viewed as a place for learning outside of the classroom. The information technology that has resulted in digital library does not replace a library as a place. It enhances the library’s role as a learning place. However, students often experience what is called as “library anxiety” when visiting a library, especially when they visit it for the first time. Adding more technological applications will make current users get better information. And it will also help cope with any library anxiety.

Abstract

This paper aims to explain the development of promotional products in Library elementaryMuhammadiyah Condongcatur, through the creation of library bulletins.In this study, the authors aim to explain the six stages in the implementation of thisprogram: 1) analyze user needs, 2) build partnerships, 3) develop activities and resources,4) implementation of promotion, 4) evaluation. The results of this study isa bulletin product that can be used as a library promotion tool and as an activity toincrease interest in reading and writing for all school civitas. The program in this studyneeds to be addressed as there are many other elementary school libraries to developpromotion at the primary school level.

Abstract

The college library is the center in the running of the wheel of disseminating knowledge. One of the collections found in the college library is local content. Local content has a variety of types, among others, student writings and lecturers’ research results. Medical Knowledge Center as a center for depositing local content academicians of the Faculty of Medicine UPN Veteran Jakarta strives to facilitate the existing local content to be more optimally utilized. This research was conducted to determine the application of local content preservation in the Medical Knowledge Center in terms of processes and benefits. The method used is descriptive qualitative. Stages are carried out by identification, selection and decision making. Conclusion Local content becomes more organized, the value of existing knowledge is maintained and extends dissemination.Perpustakaan perguruan tinggi merupakan pusat dalam berjalannya roda penyebarluasan pengetahuan. Salah satu koleksi yang terdapat di Perpustakan perguruan tinggi adalah konten lokal. Konten lokal memiliki beragam jenis antara lain hasil karya tulis Mahasiswa dan hasil penelitian Dosen. Medical Knowledge Center sebagai pusat deposit konten lokal sivitas akademika Fakultas Kedokteran UPN Veteran Jakarta berusaha untuk memfasilitasi agar konten lokal yang ada menjadi lebih optimal pemanfaatannya. Penelitian ini dibuat untuk mengetahui penerapan preservasi konten lokal di Medical Knowledge Center dari segi proses dan manfaat. Metode yang digunakan dengan deskriptif kualitatif. Tahapan dilakukan dengan identifikasi, seleksi dan pengambilan keputusan. Kesimpulan konten lokal menjadi lebih tertata, nilai pengetahuan yang ada tetap terjaga dan memperluas diseminasi.
