Abstract

Infants who are not exclusively breastfed are more susceptible to intestinal disorders, diarrhoea, upper respiratory tract infections (URTIs), and breast cancer in moms. Mother's understanding of exclusive breastfeeding is an important factor that influences it. Therefore, health education through videos for third trimester pregnant women can increase their knowledge and prepare them for childbirth and breastfeeding. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of health education with video on the knowledge of third trimester pregnant women about Exclusive Breastfeeding. The design of this study was a quasi-experiment with a one group pretest-posttest design. The study was conducted from April to May 2024 at the Senen District Health Center with 59 pregnant women as respondents who were taken by purposive sampling. Data analysis used the Kolmogorov Smirnov and Wilcoxon Tests. According to the study's findings, one-third of the participants had inadequate knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding prior to receiving health education on the topic. Respondents' knowledge increased (sufficient and good) after exclusive breastfeeding education intervention. Health professionals can effectively educate the public and pregnant women about health issues by using media such as video.

Abstract

Pregnancy classes are crucial for helping pregnant women address the physical and mental challenges they face, which can affect the birthing process. However, many women do not attend these classes. This research analyzes the factors influencing maternal behavior regarding participation in pregnancy classes. This quantitative study employs a cross-sectional approach, involving 403 pregnant women as subjects. A simple random sampling method was used to select 80 participants, with data collected through interviews. The Chi-Square test was utilized for data analysis.Findings indicate that 87.5% of pregnant women had low education levels, while 66.3% displayed good knowledge about pregnancy. Most participants (71.3%) reported inadequate facilities and infrastructure, though 66.3% received support from their husbands. Additionally, 66.3% of women were not actively involved in the classes. A significant relationship was found between education (p=0.010), knowledge (p=0.010), facilities (p=0.000), and husband's support (p=0.000) with participation in pregnancy classes. It is recommended that pregnant women actively engage in these classes voluntarily. Community health centers should enhance awareness to encourage participation, enabling early detection of pregnancy and childbirth complications.

Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is caused by the dengue virus transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. In 2022, Indonesia reported 45,387 dengue cases, resulting in 432 deaths. The knowledge of housewives influences the prevalence of DHF; those with better knowledge tend to exhibit more effective prevention behaviors. This study assessed the relationship between DHF knowledge and 5M-Plus behavior among housewives in the Pakisaji Health Center area, Malang Regency. This study employed a cross-sectional analytic observational design and included 270 respondents, with a sample size of 124 obtained through convenience sampling. The research utilized a questionnaire and analyzed data using Spearman's test. Results indicated that 80.6% of respondents had good knowledge of dengue, while 33.9% demonstrated sufficient 5M-Plus behavior. Spearman's test revealed a significant relationship between dengue knowledge and 5M-Plus behavior among housewives (r = 0.188, p = 0.037). Those with strong knowledge more readily understand and implement 5M-Plus practices. Future research should explore the link between dengue knowledge and the motivation of housewives to eliminate dengue mosquito nests.

Abstract

The maternal mortality rate (MMR) in Indonesia remains high at 305 per 100,000 live births, falling short of the target of 183 per 100,000 live births set for 2024. Puskesmas Slawi, a health center in the Tegal Regency, reported two maternal deaths in 2024 due to eclampsia and bleeding. Preliminary studies conducted at Puskesmas Slawi from June to July 2023 revealed that out of 34 pregnant women, 73.5% were anemic, 20.5% were of advanced maternal age, and 52.9% had more than two pregnancies. This study employed a correlational design and was conducted at Puskesmas Slawi in Tegal Regency from June to July 2024. The sample comprised 34 mothers in labor, utilizing secondary data for analysis. The data were processed using SPSS software and analyzed with the Chi-square statistical test. The chi-square analysis yielded a p-value of 0.687 for age, indicating no significant relationship between age and the incidence of anemia at Puskesmas Slawi, Tegal Regency. Conversely, the analysis revealed a p-value of 0.031 for parity, suggesting a significant association between parity and the incidence of anemia in the same setting. Age does not have a significant association with the incidence of anemia among pregnant women at Puskesmas Slawi, Tegal Regency; however, parity is significantly related to the occurrence of anemia in this population.

Abstract

Complementary therapies such as areola and booster massage can effectively support the production of breast milk. Mothers will be satisfied with nursing if there is maximum milk production. This is where breastfeeding succeeds. Although Al-Quran murottal and further relaxation from Jitu Oil have many advantages, nursing moms have not always used them to their full potential. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Rolling Areola Massage Using Jitu Oil and Al-Quran Murottal Relaxation on the satisfaction of breastfeeding mothers. The research population with total sampling with a total of 64 respondents. Instrument measurement using Pearson Product Moment Validity Test. Pre and post test results using Kolmogorov Smirnov Normality Test and chi square test. Interpretation of the Wilcoxon test results obtained p0.001 which means that breastfeeding satisfaction between pretest and posttest is significantly different with all respondents experiencing an increase in breastfeeding satisfaction. Efforts to increase maternal satisfaction in breastfeeding need to be a breastfeeding promotion strategy. A mother who is satisfied with breastfeeding can influence other mothers to do the same, making the breastfeeding satisfaction approach more relevant. Therefore, strategies to increase mothers' satisfaction with breastfeeding should be incorporated into exclusive breastfeeding promotion programmes.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of banana blossom (Musa spp.) consumption on breast milk production in postpartum mothers. Banana blossoms are known to be rich in bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, and tannins, which play a role in influencing lactation hormones, particularly prolactin, and have the potential to increase breast milk production. Using a pre-test and post-test experimental design, breast milk volume was measured before and after a dietary intervention in ten postpartum mothers. The study results showed a significant increase in breast milk production following banana blossom consumption, with the average volume rising from 466.30 ml (SD = 183.30) to 2406.20 ml (SD = 373.43), p 0.001. These findings support previous studies (Buntuchai et al., 2017; Yimyam Pattamapornpong, 2022) demonstrating the effectiveness of banana blossom as a natural galactagogue and highlight its potential as an affordable dietary intervention to enhance lactation outcomes. This research provides additional insights into the role of galactagogues in postpartum care, offering a practical solution to improve breastfeeding success in mothers.
