Abstract

In the world of agriculture, it is known that there are many problems in every process of managing plants where every activity carried out by farmers has difficulties. Difficulties experienced by farmers include difficulties in climbing, cutting, picking, and others. One of the plants whose problems and solutions will be discussed is the palm tree (Arenga pinnata). The problem is that farmers experience pain when climbing sugar palm trees. The pain experienced by the farmer was the thumb, index finger and sole of the foot. Farmers initially climb by holding the bamboo as a ladder, then stepping into the bamboo hole using their thumb and forefinger, and their feet gradually to climb the bamboo. When entering the picking process, it is known that the farmer is sitting on one of the tree trunks that can support the farmer's weight. In the palm tree modification process, the Nordic Body Map and REBA methods were used to process the data. The REBA score when climbing was 10 points, when harvesting it was 11 points, and the Nordic Body Map was found to have the most pain on the left and right palms, mean while to create an innovation SCAMPER and SWOT are used. To get the desired results, it was found that the stairs had to be covered on the footing with a foot width of 10 cm at the 95 percentile and a foot thickness at the 95 percentile of 10 cm, then the difference in tread height was 30 cm.

Abstract

The Small-Scale Industrial Zone of Somber (SIKS) serves as a center for tofu and tempeh production, where one of the producers processes approximately 100 kg of soybeans into tempeh daily. The tempeh production process in SIKS contributes significantly to environmental impacts, particularly during the soybean boiling stage, which uses firewood as the primary energy source. The use of firewood generates higher emissions of greenhouse gases such as CH₄, CO₂, and N₂O compared to other types of fuel. This study aims to analyze the environmental impacts of the tempeh production process in SIKS using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method supported by SimaPro software. The analysis results indicate that the boiling stage contributes the highest impact, with a score of 51.5 Pt, mainly due to the use of firewood. As an improvement strategy, a simulation was conducted by replacing firewood with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), which showed a significant reduction in environmental impact to 4.44 Pt. This strategy also reflects the principle of sustainability by promoting the use of cleaner and more efficient energy sources to reduce the environmental burden. Therefore, the use of LPG is considered effective in reducing environmental impacts in the categories of human health, ecosystem, and resources in the tempeh production process at SIKS.

Abstract

This research was conducted at a company that produces household plastic equipment by implementing the Green Lean Six Sigma approach. The method used in this research is DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control). At the identification stage, waste analysis was carried out using the VALSAT tool, which revealed that the main wastes occurred in the aspects of waiting and product defects. In addition, this research also measured the liquid and solid waste generated due to defective products. The usage of water and materials in the production process was measured and used as indicators to evaluate environmental aspects. The analysis results showed that the company's initial efficiency was 27.91%, with a Defects Per Million Opportunities (DPMO) rate of 5320.19 and a sigma level of 1.358. These findings indicate the need for more attention to process improvement. Improvement recommendations were made based on identifying the root causes of problems using a fishbone diagram and Risk Priority Number (RPN) analysis from Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), resulting in prioritized recommendations to address defective products and generated waste. After implementing the proposed improvements, the company's efficiency increased to 73.17%. Additionally, waste management was also suggested to further enhance the company's sustainability and operational efficiency.

Abstract

This study focuses on evaluating green supply chain performance within a plastic-based household product manufacturer, specifically in the production of drinking glasses. Data collection involved questionnaires and interviews with company representatives. Findings from the interviews revealed a primary challenge in accurately forecasting sales demand, creating uncertainties in production and storage and often leading to overstock or stockouts, both of which negatively affect customer satisfaction. Over the last six months, significant discrepancies between forecasted and actual demand were recorded, with differences of 92, 90, 84, 37, 74, and 80 cartons respectively. To address these issues, the research applies a Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) approach using the Green Supply Chain Operations Reference (GSCOR) model, alongside Key Performance Indicators (KPI), the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), the Objective Matrix (OMAX), and the Traffic Light System (TLS). KPIs are measured across five core processes: plan, source, make, deliver, and return. This study aims to improve forecast accuracy, support the implementation of more effective and efficient strategies, and assess the extent of the company's environmental sustainability practices, ultimately contributing to better environmental practices within the organization.

Abstract

As the number of motor vehicles in Indonesia increases, the demand for vehicle maintenance and repair services also rises. One of the businesses that provide motor vehicle maintenance services is a motorcycle workshop. XYZ Workshop is an MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise) engaged in the repair services of motor vehicles and the sale of spare parts, established in 2022. Since its operation, XYZ Workshop has provided various types of motor vehicle maintenance and repair services, starting from inspections, oil changes, wheel tire replacements, and handling CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) on automatic motorcycles. This research is conducted with the aim of obtaining the standard time for the maintenance activities of Continuous Variable Transmission and understanding the time weight of each work element, from the largest to the smallest. This research uses the time and motion study method to analyze the work elements performed by workers and measure the work time for each element. Based on the calculated standard time for the work elements, the element with the highest standard time is the reassembly movement of the Secondary Sheave with a standard time of 41.901 seconds, while the element with the smallest standard time is the movement of picking up the cover bolts with a standard time of 1.178 seconds. The addition of tools or the design of a working system can be implemented to reduce the standard time of the work element with the highest time, making it faster and reducing the worker’s load.

Abstract

The pharmaceutical industry has a significant impact on the environment, including air, soil, and water pollution caused by production waste. In an effort to address this issue, the implementation of Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) has become a strategic and effective approach to improve operational efficiency while minimizing environmental impact. This study aims to evaluate the performance of Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) in a pharmaceutical company using the Green Supply Chain Operations Reference (Green SCOR) approach. The Green SCOR framework includes five main elements: Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, and Return. This research uses a descriptive quantitative approach with primary data obtained through interviews, discussions, and questionnaires with relevant managers, as well as secondary data from company documentation. The evaluation results show that out of 30 performance indicators measured, 11 did not meet company standards, including raw material planning accuracy, material efficiency, transportation emissions, and recycling rates of solid and liquid waste. Therefore, a comprehensive evaluation was conducted by categorizing the findings into four dimensions: planning, production, distribution, and waste management. This study recommends the implementation of integrated systems, advancement of production technology, optimization of logistics, and strengthening of waste management systems to sustainably improve the performance of Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM).

Abstract

The agricultural sector is the backbone of the national economy, which is still dominated by manual work practices with high ergonomic risks. This impacts health, workplace accidents, and occupational diseases. This study aims to identify, analyze, and evaluate ergonomic risk factors in work activities in the agricultural sector, particularly in the process of preparing rice fields. This process consists of manual hoeing, manual land leveling, and land cultivation with a tractor. The study location is in Kolelet Village, Picung District, Pandeglang Regency, which is one of the rice granaries in Banten Province. The results of the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire showed that the most complaints were found in manual land leveling workers, followed by manual hoeing workers, and the least in tractor operators. The body parts most frequently experiencing musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) were the shoulders, back, waist, arms, thighs, and calves. The results of the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (REBA) analysis show that the work posture value for manual hoeing is 10 (High Risk), for manual land leveling the REBA value is 12 (Very High Risk), while for tractor operator work, the REBA value is 5 (Medium Risk). From the OWAS analysis, all three jobs are in the Red category, with the main factors being the workload and duration. For work environment conditions, 12:00 to 14:00 is the most dangerous hour with temperature, humidity in the danger category, and the UV index categorized as very high. The noise factor from the tractor sound ranges from 81-89 dB, still in safe conditions, with a work duration of between 2-6 hours a day.
