Abstract

Pain is a common problem experienced by patients after undergoing Caesarean Section (CS) due to surgical incision of the abdominal wall and uterus. Poorly managed postoperative pain may limit mobilization, disturb rest, and delay maternal recovery. One non-pharmacological intervention that can be applied to reduce pain intensity is the deep breathing relaxation technique. This mini research aimed to describe pain intensity in post Caesarean Section patients after the application of deep breathing relaxation. This study used a case study approach involving five patients on the first day after Caesarean Section surgery. Pain assessment was conducted using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) before and after the intervention over three days of care. The results showed that before the intervention, all patients experienced moderate to severe pain with pain scores ranging from 5 to 8. After the implementation of deep breathing relaxation for 3x24 hours, a gradual reduction in pain intensity was observed in all patients. On the third day of evaluation, pain scores decreased to 2-3, which were categorized as mild pain. Patients appeared more relaxed, facial expressions of pain were reduced, and they were able to perform light mobilization more comfortably. In conclusion, deep breathing relaxation is effective as a non-pharmacological nursing intervention to help reduce pain intensity in post Caesarean Section patients

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and compare the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Program in Indonesia with similar national school meal programs conducted in India, Ghana, and Scotland. Indonesia’s MBG program, launched in 2024, serves as a strategic initiative to improve students’ nutritional status, reduce stunting, and strengthen human capital development toward Indonesia Emas 2045. However, during its initial phase, the program still faces several challenges, including limited funding, weak inter-agency coordination, uneven distribution of food logistics, and insufficient quality monitoring at school levels. In contrast, India’s Mid-Day Meal Scheme, Ghana’s School Feeding Programme, and Scotland’s Universal Free School Meals policy have demonstrated significant success in improving child nutrition, increasing school attendance, empowering local economies, and ensuring program sustainability. These achievements are supported by stable funding systems, well-structured monitoring mechanisms, and strong collaboration between governments, schools, communities, and the private sector. This research employs a comparative quantitative-descriptive approach using secondary data obtained from academic journals, government reports, and international publications. The analysis evaluates effectiveness indicators such as program coverage, nutritional adequacy, school attendance, and governance quality. The findings reveal significant differences between Indonesia and two reference countries—India and Scotland—yet no significant difference when compared to Ghana. These results indicate that Indonesia must strengthen its funding mechanisms, cross-sectoral coordination, and community participation to enhance the overall performance and sustainability of the MBG program. This study contributes to expanding the understanding of school nutrition policy implementation in Indonesia through lessons learned from international best practices. Furthermore, it underscores the importance of budget transparency, quality control mechanisms, and integrated governance from national to local levels to ensure long-term success of the MBG program.

Abstract

Efficiency in bridge construction is a critical multidimensional concept, encompassing structural, economic, and time aspects. This study aims to evaluate the efficiency of reinforced concrete use in bridge structures through a comparative analysis of various design parameters. The method used is applied research with a quantitative approach, through parametric design simulations of 18 scenarios which are a combination of cross-section type variables (T-Beam and Box Girder), concrete quality (K-300, K-350, K-450), and span length (20m, 30m, 40m). The analysis was carried out in an integrated manner with SAP2000 software for structural modeling and manual calculations based on SNI 2847:2019 and RSNI T-02-2005 for reinforcement design and cost analysis. The study results show that box girders are consistently more structurally efficient, with up to a 22% reduction in concrete volume compared to T-beams over a 30m span, especially when using high-grade concrete (K-450). However, from an economic efficiency perspective, conventional T-beams remain superior, with initial construction costs 4.6% lower under similar conditions, driven by lower formwork and labor costs. A weighted multi-criteria analysis reveals that the most efficient option depends heavily on project priorities: conventional K-350 T-beams are optimal for cost-oriented projects, while precast K-450 box girders excel for projects prioritizing speed and performance. The study concludes that there is no universally best solution and recommends analyzing design alternatives at the concept stage to achieve holistic resource optimization in bridge planning in Indonesia

Abstract

Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women in Indonesia. Management of cervical cancer generally involves chemotherapy, which often causes pain, especially in advanced stages. Approximately 50-70% of cervical cancer patients experience persistent pain. Unmanaged pain can decrease quality of life, limit daily activities, and cause psychological problems such as anxiety and depression, as well as physical disturbances including sleep problems and reduced appetite. Therefore, complementary non-pharmacological interventions are needed to support pain management. Slow Stroke Back Massage (SSBM) is a nursing intervention that promotes relaxation and reduces pain perception. This nursing care aimed to apply SSBM as an evidence-based nursing intervention to reduce pain in cervical cancer patients. The method used was a case study with the application of Evidence-Based Practice Nursing. The subject was a cervical cancer patient experiencing pain. The SSBM intervention was administered once daily for 3 consecutive days. Pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale. The results showed that the average pain score before the SSBM intervention was 4, while after the intervention it decreased to 2. Patient observations indicated reduced pain intensity and increased comfort after the intervention. In conclusion, SSBM is an effective non-pharmacological pain

Abstract

Background: Vaginal delivery frequently results in obstetric injury, particularly perineal rupture, which is classified as an acute wound demanding suturing and optimal healing. This healing process is highly dependent on maternal nutritional status, especially protein intake, which is essential for cell regeneration and collagen synthesis. Although animal protein is widely recognized for this role, there is still a need to comprehensively compare its effectiveness with vegetable protein, considering the availability and economic aspects of plant-based sources. Objective: This Scoping Review aims to analyze and compare the differing effects. of high intake patterns of animal protein versus vegetable protein on the clinical parameters of perineal rupture healing in postpartum mothers. Methods: A systematic literature search, guided by the PEOS framework (Population: Postpartum Mothers, Exposure: Animal and Vegetable Protein Intake, Outcome: Perineal Wound Healing), was conducted across four major databases (PubMed, Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and Wiley) with al publication window of 2020-2025. Five articles. meeting the quality criteria (Hawker instrument) were included, covering animal protein interventions (Egg Whites, Skim Milk, Snakehead Fish Extract) and vegetable protein (Almonds). Results and Conclusion: All studies demonstrated that protein. consumption significantly influences perineal wound healing. Both protein interventions (animal and vegetable sources) were proven effective in accelerating wound healing, which quantitatively measured using Quasi-Experimental methods and specific clinical instruments such as the REEDA Scale and observation of healing time acceleration. Protein supplementation is thus concluded to be a fundamental and measurable nutritional strategy to enhance the quality of postpartum recovery.

Abstract

Anemia among adolescent girls remains a prevalent public health problem, with high prevalence closely associated with inadequate nutritional intake, particularly iron, protein, and vitamin C. The increased iron requirements during adolescence, driven by rapid growth and menstrual blood loss, place this group at a heightened risk of anemia when dietary intake is insufficient. This scoping review aimed to examine current scientific evidence on the impact of nutritional intake on the incidence of anemia among adolescent girls and to evaluate the effectiveness of local food–based interventions in increasing hemoglobin levels. The literature search followed the Arksey and O’Malley framework and the PRISMA-ScR guidelines, using two major databases: PubMed and Google Scholar. A total of 631 articles were identified, comprising 221 from PubMed and 410 from Google Scholar. After screening based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, seven original research articles were selected for in-depth analysis. The findings revealed four key themes: (1) low iron intake, particularly from animal sources, is the primary contributor to decreased hemoglobin levels; (2) protein and vitamin C play crucial roles in enhancing the absorption of non-heme iron; (3) irregular eating patterns, the habit of consuming tea or coffee after meals, and limited nutritional knowledge exacerbate anemia; and (4) local food–based interventions such as red spinach pudding, kelakai pudding, fish-based snacks, and combinations of boiled eggs with red guava juice were effective in increasing hemoglobin levels within 7–14 days. This scoping review underscores that anemia among adolescent girls is strongly influenced by the quality of nutritional intake and dietary habits, and it supports evidence that local foods can serve as an effective and cost-efficient approach for the prevention and management of anemia

Abstract

The number of elderly people in Indonesia continues to increase, presenting significant challenges, particularly in the health sector. This includes a rising prevalence of degenerative diseases such as type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease. Older adults are highly vulnerable to imbalances in blood sugar levels, and elevated cholesterol is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease, which remains a leading cause of death among the elderly. According to Pergemi (2022), the prevalence of diabetes, high cholesterol, and cardiovascular disease is notably high among this age group. This study aimed to examine the relationship between random blood sugar levels and cholesterol levels in elderly individuals. This was a descriptive correlational study using a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, with a total of 48 elderly respondents undergoing health checks in Jakarta. Data were collected from the results of blood sugar levels and cholesterol level tests. The data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The test result showed a p-value of 0.277, indicating no significant correlation between random blood sugar levels and cholesterol levels in the elderly. It is recommended that older adults regularly monitor their health, maintain a healthy lifestyle, and stay physically active.
