Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Instagram in improving students' speaking skills. This research used collaborative classroom action research. The objective of this study are: 1) Finding out how Instagram can improve the speaking skill of the students, and 2)Knowing the student respond of the second grade student toward the implementation of the Instagram in improving students speaking skills. To collect data, the researcher used Instruments of observation, test and questionnaire. The finding showed that the used of Instagram was effective in improving students speaking skill of the students in the class. This can be seen from the improvements after each cycle. The average score of the first cycle was 64.25 to 81.66 in the second cycle. The questionnaire instrument received a very positive response to the implementation of Instagram in improving students' speaking skills. Therefore, it can be concluded that Instagram platform can improve students’ speaking skill and also can improve speaking classroom into a better situation. Keyword: Improving, Speaking, Instagram. ​

Abstract

The title of this research is Enhacing the Students’ in Mastering Writing Ability Through Case Based Method ( A Collaborative Classroom Action Research to the second year students of SMAN 2 Bireuen). The researcher found some problems of the research : First, How does Case Based Method enhance the students’ writing ability at the second year students of SMAN 2 Bireuen?. The second, How do the students’ response when teacher implemented Case Based Method used in teaching writing to the second year of SMAN 2 Bireuen?. The purposes of the research: First, To find out the use of Case Based Method enhanced the students of SMAN 2 Bireuen in writing ability. Second, To find out the students’ response toward the teacher implementing Case Based Method in teaching writing to the second year students of SMAN 2 Bireuen. The methodology used in this research is a collaborative Classroom Action Research. The instruments used in this research were: test, observation, questionnaire and field notes. Both qualitative and quantitative were combined in this research. Instruments used for qualitative research methodology were observation sheet for the teacher, observation sheet for the students, questionnaire and filed notes. Instruments used for quantitave was test. The result of this research show that Case Based Method was sucsess in enhancing the students’ writing ability, it is proved by mean score of the students test in the first cycle was 65.25% while the mean score of the students in cycle 2 was 78.6%. Futhermore, the mean score of the students response toward the implementation of Case Based Method was categorized strongly agree, it proved that the students had positive response toward the implementation of Case Based Method. The mean score of the teacher’s performance in the first cycle was 62,5% , while in the second cycle was 86,87%. The students were actively involved in teaching and learning process in the first cycle was 67,5% and in the second cycle was 86,25%. In conclusion, Case Based Method has successfull improved the students’ writing ability and the students had positive response toward the implementation of the Method.

Abstract

The aimed of this research is to find out does the use of MOZAIC Activity to improve students’writing skill or not. The research conducted at MTsS Peulimbang with classroom action research design which conducted in two cycle by following the procedure of the action research consisting of foursteps; planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. Each cycle was carry out in three meeting. The subject of the research was the second year students class 2/I of MTsS Peulimbang. The research instruments used in this research were test, observation checklist and questionnaire. The obtained data were presented and analyzed in qualitative and quantitative data. The result of this research showed that Mozaik Activity could improve the students’ skill in learning writing. It could be proved by some research finding found by the researcher. The first result found from the test given to the students. The students’ average score of the test in cycle 1 was 65.25 and it increased to 78.6 in cycle 2. The second result was obtained from the observation of the researcher’s performance and students’ activities. The percentage of the researcher’s performance in the first cycle was 68.75% or in level good. While, in the second cycle it increased to 87.5% or in level very good criterion. Next, the percentages of the students’ activities was 66.23% or in level enough in the first cycle and it increased to be 85% or in very good criterion in the second cycle. The other finding got from the result of questionnaire. It showed that the students gave positive responses toward the implementing Mozaik Activity in learning writing. It could be seen by the result of the questionnaire was 3.62 or in category strongly agree. It means that the students’ response was very good.

Abstract

This article is a research about An Analysis of the Novel Tanah Surga Merah by Arafat Nur. This research is intended to find out the portrait of Aceh between politic and Sharia law and to describe the impact of politic on the existence of Sharia law in Aceh. The whole process is carried out using the descriptive qualitative method, where primary and secondary data are collected to understand the whole research topic. The result of the analysis process shows that the local political system in Aceh has legitimized crime into the truth in the form of political and social hegemony. The hegemony causes Acehnese people to misapply the principles of life. Therefore, the presence of hegemony in Acehnese society had a very large negative impact on the survival of the social community. While the impact of politics on the existence of Sharia law in Aceh is the loss of moral values among Acehnese people that led them intentionally commit crimes even though they already know the truth. Abstract

ABSTRACT The title of this research is the effect of cake platform toward students’ speaking skills (An experimental research to the first grade IPS-1 students of SMAN 1 peudada). The problem of this research 1) is the Cake platform can improve students’ speaking skills of the first-grade IPS 1 students at SAMN 1 Peudada? 2) is the use of the Cake platform effective toward speaking skills of the first-grade IPS 1 students at SMAN 1 Peudada?. The purpose of this research 1) to determine whether or not the Cake platform can improve students’ speaking skills of the first–grade IPS 1 students at SMAN 1 Peudada. 2) to determine whetheror not the Cake platforms effective toward speaking skills of the first grade IPS 1 students at SMAN 1 Peudada. The methodology of this research was a pre-experimental design. The population of this research was SMAN 1 Peudada. The sample of this research was first-grade IPS 1 which consist 28 students in the class. The used of intrument of this research was speaking test and questionnaire. Data were analyzed quantitatively using SPSS Statistics Output, such as the Normality Test and Paired-Sample T-test. Meanwhile, the average pre-test and post-test speaking scores were analyzed differently based on specific objectives. The use of the Cake platform as a medium to improve students' speaking skills is effective, this can be seen from the average post-test reading comprehension score µ = 76.25 higher than the pre-test reading comprehension average score. From the data analysis, the results of the Paired-Sample T-test were 0.000 <0.05 with a significant value if Sig. (2-tailed) < 0.05 means there is a significant difference, with normally distributed data, Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.434 on the basis of the Normality Test decision making using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov significance data, if the significance value is > 0.05 then the residual value is normally distributed. Thus, the alternative research hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. It can be interpreted that the influence of the Cake platform as a media for improving students' speaking skills is an effective strategy for students to improve their speaking.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of diorama media on students' speaking abilities at SMP Negeri 35 Takengon and assess their response to the use of diorama media for improving speaking abilities. Collaborative Classroom Action Research was employed as the research method, with the researcher working in collaboration with the teacher at SMP Negeri 35 Takengon. The research utilized tests, observation checklists, and questionnaires as the data collection instruments. Analysis of the data revealed that the mean score for students' speaking ability tests was 43.65 in the first cycle and 72.04 in the second cycle. The students' response to the implementation of diorama media yielded a mean score of 3.7, indicating a "Strongly Agree" response. These findings demonstrate that the utilization of diorama media has led to positive results in improving students' speaking abilities and has garnered a satisfactory response. As a result, this research can be considered successful.

Abstract

The title of this research is Step-Up of Students’ Writing Skill by Using A Silly Sentence Sliders (Lesson Study Based at SMAN 1 Kutablang). The purpose of this research is to find out how the use of silly sentence sliders in lesson study step-up the students’ writing skills and to find out how a silly sentence slider show the process of the students’ writing skill. The method utilized in this research is qualitative approach with lesson study design. The population of this research was the second-grade students at SMAN 1 Kutablang. Meanwhile, the sample that the researcher took was class 11 MIA 2 with the total of 19 students in the classroom. In the part of the technique in data collection, the researcher used observation sheet, test, and documentation as the instruments. Based on the research process that was done, the researcher found out that the students' ability to understand how to write English writing was low in the pre-test than in the post-test. The pre-test result showed that the student's average score was 1.180 and the percentage of students who score up to the score of 70 was only 9 students or 47% of the total students who took the test, and the remain 10 students were categorized as failed. Meanwhile, in the post-test after the researcher applied the action, the researcher found that the students’ average score was 1.620. It can be seen that the students' scores in writing skills have increased. The percentage of students who passed with scores of 70 or above were 19 students. Therefore, the post-test was categorized as successful. The research data was analyzed by using modified scoring rubric according to Heaton in Uztosun (2006).

Abstract

The title of this research is Novel Tanah Surga Merah By Arafat Nur (2017): Between Sacrifice and Betrayal. The purpose of this research is 1) To analyze and describe how the main character’s conflicts between sacrifice and betrayal, 2) To know the moral values in the novel Tanah Surga Merah, and 3) To know the religious values in the novel Tanah Surga Merah. The method utilized in this research is library research design. In collecting research data results, the researcher conducted primary data and secondary data. The primary data of this research was a novel by Arafat Nur entitled Tanah Surga Merah. To obtain the results from the primary data, the researcher focused on the point of sacrifice and betrayal, then focused on the values of this novel. Meanwhile, the research outcome from the secondary data in this research was obtained from reading the books, internets, articles, or other documents related to the novel Tanah Surga Merah by Arafat Nur. In analyzing the data results, the researcher adopted the technique form Miles & Huberman (1994) that consisted of data reduction, data display, and data verification. The extent of the sacrifice made by the main character and the betrayal committed by him for the path of morality and equity and how it is greatly portrayed in the novel's plot about the circumstances of the Acehnese society that have changed substantially in terms of moral values and religious values was discovered as a result of analyzing the Tanah Surga Merah novel.

Abstract

This study aims to see whether the grade XI students of SMA Negeri 3 Bireuen get high scores in improving their English speaking skills using the Team-Based Learning method compared to the average scores of students using conventional methods. Methodology of this research is used collaborative classroom action research (CCAR). The researcher tried to improve students' speaking skills through the Team-Based Learning (TBL) method in this research. The researcher would use quantitative data as data collection. The data was collected from test, questionares, and an observation checklist. Thus, from this study, the researcher drew the following conclusions: The application of the Team-Based Learning (TBL) learning method improved students speaking skills in pronunciation accuracy and vocabulary suitability and students confidenced in speaking to second class SMA Negeri 3 Bireuen this could be proven through the results of students speaking test scores, namely in the cycle 1 got the result 46.67 or “good” categorized while in cycle 2 it reaches 86.67 or “excellent” categorized. The Students responses to the use of Team-Based Learning learning methods get satisfactory results. It could be seen that most students had a good response and are happy in learning to use this method. This could be seen from the results of the questionnaires answered by the students and the results of 3.65 (Strongly Agree). Based on the findings, the researcher conclude that the use of Team-Based Learning Method (TBL) in improving the speaking skills of students in the second class SMA Negeri 3 Bireuen Experienced a significant increased.

Abstract

The research was conducted in Collaborative Classroom Action at SMA Negeri 3 Bireuen. The aims of the research are: 1). To know Whispering Game Technique can improve the students’ listening skill to the eleventh-grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Bireuen. 2). To investigate the students’ response toward the implementation of Whispering Game Technique in learning listening skill. The subject of the research was the eleventh-grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Bireuen. The research data was collected from observation checklist, listening test, questionnaire and field note. The data was analyzed in qualitative and qualitative research.  The researcher found some research results. The first, the result findings from the students’ listening test in cycle one was 48.81 and became to 77.72 in cycle 2. The second result finding was found from the observation of the teacher’s performance was 60% in cycle I and increase to 80%. Meanwhile, the percentage of students’ activities in the first cycle was found 53% and increase to 75%. The third result finding found that the result of students’ response toward the implementation of Whispering Game Technique. Based on the result, the students gave good (positive response) about the technique. It could be seen from the category of questionnaire result showed that in “strongly agree” category or in level 3.78. From the results findings above, it could be concluded that Whispering Game Technique improves the students’ listening skill.
