Abstract

In the creation of a perfect human being, humans are unable to live alone without the presence of others. Seeing the reality, humans do need interaction between one another. From these interactions, some are mutually beneficial and some are detrimental. However, building a relationship, one of which is friendship, is not an easy thing. Because, everyone has their own nature and character. In real life, there are indeed detrimental friendship relationships, which only benefit one party and harm the other party. Therefore, this article was written to examine several issues related to the influence of friendship, to be used as an answer and understanding of existing problems. This article uses a qualitative method with a library research pattern or thematic hadith study literature research. The use of primary sources in this study is the hadith about friendship sourced from canonical hadith books, such as the books of Sahih Bukhari, Muslim, and others. While the secondary sources are narratives or articles related to the theme of the study. The study includes an analysis of the quality and quantity of hadith about friendship through takhrij and i’tibar sanad. Then how is the dramaturgy theory by Erving Goffman, and how is the interpretation of hadith with the perspective of the dramaturgy theory. The results of the study show that friendship has a significant influence on the formation of a person's character. Social interaction of friendship can shape social behavior positively or negatively. The hadith used is the hadith of Imam Bukhari about the importance of choosing friends. The analysis of the sanad of this hadith is declared to be valid in quality, because the sanad of the hadith is continuous, the narrator is 'fair and dabit. Furthermore, regarding the matan hadith, no irregularities or defects were found, nor do they contradict the verses of the Qur'an, authentic hadiths, historical facts, and scientific truths.

Abstract

Hedonism, as a lifestyle oriented toward worldly pleasures, has become increasingly prevalent in modern society, including among Muslims. This way of life contradicts the Islamic principle of moderation, which emphasizes balance, self-control, and proportionality in fulfilling one’s needs. This study aims to reexamine the values of simplicity through a hadith-based analysis in response to the challenges of hedonism in contemporary society. The research employs a qualitative approach through a literature study, applying thematic hadith analysis (maudhu‘i) combined with concise takhrij to ensure the authenticity of the narrations. Hadiths concerning the prohibition of excessiveness and the encouragement of simple living are analyzed contextually using Zygmunt Bauman’s Liquid Society theory. The findings reveal that the Prophet’s teachings on simplicity emphasize the importance of controlling consumption, fostering social concern through sharing, and maintaining balance between material and spiritual needs. Meanwhile, Bauman’s concept of liquid modernity exposes how consumerist culture and rapid social changes have eroded the values of moderation. The contribution of this study lies in integrating Hadith analysis with Bauman’s theory, producing a contextual interpretation that is relevant for critiquing modern hedonism. The study concludes that the actualization of simplicity values in the hadith represents a strategic principle for building a more stable and civilized social order amid the dynamics of liquid modern society.

Abstract

Wasathiyyah is a fundamental principle in Islamic teachings that emphasises balance, ease, and rejection of all forms of extremism. This article examines wasathiyyah as prophetic practice through a thematic study of hadiths on taysir (ease), the prohibition of ghuluw (excessiveness in religion), and social values that support harmony in society. This research uses a qualitative method with a maudhu'i approach, which includes the process of takhrij, criticism of sanad and matan, and contextual meaning analysis. The results of the study show that moderation is not merely a normative concept, but is manifested in the daily practices of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, both in worship, social relations, and in responding to cultural diversity. The findings of the study confirm that the values of taysir and the prohibition of ghuluw form the ethical foundation that shapes the character of the ummah as ummatan wasathan. In the context of Indonesia's multiculturalism, these principles are intertwined with the four pillars of religious moderation, namely national commitment, tolerance, anti-violence, and acceptance of local culture. Therefore, the value of wasathiyyah in the hadith is not only relevant as a spiritual guide, but also as a social framework to strengthen cohesion, prevent polarisation, and maintain harmony amid contemporary religious dynamics. This article emphasises the urgency of revitalising prophetic practices in religious moderation to address the challenges of extremism and disorientation in religious understanding in the digital age.

Abstract

This research examines the fiqh of priorities in the fatwas of the Indonesian Ulama Council during the COVID-19 pandemic. The problem presented in it is : What are the areas of the fatwas of the Indonesian Ulama Council during the COVID-19 pandemic? How does the Indonesian Ulama Council issue a fatwa during the COVID-19 pandemic from the perspective of the fiqh of priorities? This research is desk research. Its data is available from library sources, both major and bilateral. The method of collecting data is documentary, which means collecting it in writing. The method of analyzing it is the content analysis that the researcher uses in analyzing the fiqh of priorities in the fatwas of the Indonesian Ulama Council during the COVID-19 pandemic. During the COVID-19 pandemic, various religious practices and rituals have been restricted or even postponed, preventing the spread of the virus. In this context, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) issued a number of fatwas, including an important fatwa on 16 March 2020, shortly after the first case of COVID-19 was announced in Indonesia. This study aims to examine the hadith-based legal reasoning in the MUI's fatwas during the COVID-19 pandemic by highlighting the relationship between hadith arguments and the maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah framework through the fiqh al-awlawiyyāt (fiqh of priorities) approach. This study is a literature review using primary and secondary sources. Data was collected through documentation and analysed using content analysis to identify patterns of use, interpretation, and prioritisation of hadiths in MUI fatwas. The results of the study show that MUI fatwas during the pandemic cover three main areas, namely worship, individual, and socio-religious. MUI's legal reasoning shows consistency in prioritising hadiths oriented towards the protection of life (ḥifẓ al-nafs), prevention of harm, and public interest. These hadiths are operationalised contextually through the principle of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, resulting in fatwas that are responsive to health emergencies without negating the normative authority of hadith. Abstract

Islamic family law is the area of law that is closest to the lives of the people and continues to undergo dynamics in line with social changes. The hadiths of ahkām al-usrah, as the second normative source after the Qur'an, play a strategic role in the formation of Islamic family law, but are often understood textually and ahistorically. This study aims to analyse the typology of family law hadiths, explore the substantive meaning of hadiths through the ma‘ānī al-ḥadīs approach, and assess their relevance in the formation of contemporary Islamic family law. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature review approach, analysing family hadiths in authoritative hadith books as well as contemporary Islamic jurisprudence and thought literature. The results show that ahkām al-usrah hadiths have diverse normative functions oriented towards ethical values such as justice, responsibility, and family protection. Through the integration of the ma‘ānī al-ḥadīs and maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah approaches, these hadiths are proven to be relevant and adaptive in responding to the challenges of modern Islamic family law. This study emphasises the importance of contextual reading of hadith as the basis for the formation of Islamic family law that is just and oriented towards public interest.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse learning strategies derived from the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and identify the challenges of implementing them in the modern era. Using a qualitative literature review approach through the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, this study examines scientific works, classical hadith sources, and contemporary educational studies relevant to hadith-based learning. The results of the study show that the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) employed various pedagogical strategies, including educational lectures, discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and exemplary behavior, which were effective in enhancing students' understanding, participation, and character development. These strategies align with modern educational principles that emphasize student-centered learning, dialogic interaction, contextual understanding, and humanistic values. However, the implementation of hadith-based learning strategies in the contemporary era still faces a number of challenges, including low hadith literacy, the dominance of textual and teacher-centred approaches, limited pedagogical competence among educators, and the proliferation of unverified religious information in digital media. Nevertheless, the integration of hadith-based learning strategies with contemporary pedagogical approaches has significant potential to enhance the relevance, effectiveness, and meaningfulness of hadith education. Therefore, hadiths serve not only as a normative religious source but also as a strategic foundation in the development of modern Islamic education.
