Abstract

The plantation subsector was an active role to improve region economics in Indragiri Hilir Regency. This study aims to know the multiplier effect of a coconut plantation in Indragiri Hilir Regency, develop concepts and strategies for plantation development as a potential commodity in Indragiri Hilir Regency. The study used survey methods and 9 people collected as key informants, namely community leaders and coconut landowners, extension officers, and coconut farmers. Data analyzed: Multiplier effect and SWOT. The results indicated that the income of multiplier coconut plantation in 2010-2016 had fluctuated value. From the last seven years, the highest value occurred in 2011 values 1.931. Revenues obtained from the base activities coconut plantation base would increase the income of non-base activities. Base activities (coconut plantations) had the power to encourage regional economic growth. Coconut plantation in Indragiri Hilir Regency was in Quadrant III. which means coconut although it has weaknesses still has considerable opportunities to develop. However, it has the opportunity greatly to be developed. One of the methods was too minimal coconut problems to get better market opportunities. The strategy that must be applied is to encourage turn around strategy.

Abstract

Mung bean (Vigna radiata L.) is one of the important because it has a high nutritional value, so many Indonesia consumption its crop. The production of mung beans is still relatively low due to the reduced availability of land, so it is necessary to use marginal land such as saline land. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the resistance of 10 mung bean genotypes (Vignaradiata L.) from Riau Province on salinity stress. Mung beans seeds of 10 genotypes were grown in polybags with treatments including Control and Treatment saline 7 g/L NaCl of Dolphin salt with 7 replications for 66 HST. The interval of watering saline treatment was five days on time the plant begins to bloom. All genotypes showed different morphological responses to salinity stress. Characteristic of 10 genotypes of mung beans from Riau Province based on salinity stress treatment was obtained a significantly different result on the character of productive branch number, plant height, flowering period, number of pods, pod length, seed number, 100 seed weight, and root length. The tolerant genotype of the salinity of Rohul origin 1 (RU1) was superior to plant height, flowering period, number of pods, number of seeds, and root volume. Genotypes from Pelalawan (P) for branch character, Inhu (IU) genotype was for long pods and 100 seeds, and Rohul 2 (RU2) genotype was for long root characters.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The palm bioindustry farming model in Riau Province aims to utilize all factors of production. It can be turned into other products that are managed into bioenergy, as well as free of waste by applying the principles of reducing, reusing, and recycling (reduce, reuse and recycle). The agriculture-bioindustry model is expected to produce a healthy, sustainable environment, and can increase the income of palm farmers in the study area and increase the efficiency of oil palm farming. The bio-industrial agriculture model activity was carried out in Tapung District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. It was started from January 2018 until December 2018. The scope of activities is in the form of coordination with related agencies, collecting primary data, introducing technology with socialization events and seeing the performance of bioindustry activities. The results of the activity can be reported that Tapung sub-district has a land area of 739.21 km2 or 73.921 ha, and an oil palm area of 34,102 ha, annual midrib production of 748,000 midribs (1,645,600 kg/year) with an average livestock feed needs 20 kg/day. It means that the Tapung sub-district can accommodate 228 animals in a year, out of 228 animals produce 1,140 kg of dry manure and produce 684 liters of urine per day, depending on the age and body-weight of the livestock. However, all the byproducts from cattle the oil palm is still being used for their own business needs and not yet for commercial use. Their own needs are in the form of impacts on farmers' palm production from the activities. It can be concluded that the performance of the bio-industry produces in higher palm oil production compared to existing ones.
