Abstract

The PGAI Foundation (Persatuan Guru Agama Islam) is a foundation that manages orphanages, schools and several other units in the city of Padang. Specifically, the children living in the orphanages come from various backgrounds and school age levels. They live and attend school at schools managed by the foundation, and some also attend public schools. One of the problems faced by these children is that they are accustomed to waiting for donations from donors for various activities. Although this is not the case for every child, it is certainly not good for their future. We provide handicraft training in the form of making accessories using digital technology. The students are given several product design examples and then given the freedom to develop their own products. The products produced are accessories such as bracelets, necklaces, rings and others made from beads. After the students are able to make the products, they are given knowledge on how to package the products. The students are also equipped with knowledge on how to utilise digital technology in obtaining product design references, promotion and marketing of their products. After this training, the children in the orphanage have acquired the skills to make various accessory products and have knowledge of digital entrepreneurship. This training has produced over 50 pieces of accessory products, including bracelets, rings, and several other items that are ready for marketing.

Abstract

Nestled in the heart of nature, Bumi Perkemahan Guak Lago holds extraordinary tourism potential, yet remains trapped in the shadow of obscurity. The subject of this community service is a hidden gem awaiting its moment in the spotlight, where promotion still relies on conventional methods with limited reach. The prevailing phenomenon is a paradox: a captivating landscape enjoyed only by a handful of local visitors, while a vast wave of digital tourists actively seeks new destinations that go viral on their screens. This Community Service (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat/PKM) initiative acts as a bridge, shifting the paradigm by bringing the winds of digital change directly to the managing community. The applied method was a series of transformative interactions, beginning with intensive socialization on the importance of digital media, followed by practical training and direct mentoring in visual content production. This process went beyond mere theory, immersing participants in every stage—from capturing images with smartphones and basic editing to distribution strategies on social platforms. The overall outcome of this activity is commendable: the birth of a professional promotional video entirely crafted by the local community, which now serves not only as a promotional tool but also as a new symbol of pride and self-reliance. The activity successfully ignited the spark of digital literacy, transforming passivity into activity, turning mere site caretakers into confident content creators. Its impact flows like the waters of Guak Lago refreshing, bringing new life, and opening a stronger current of economic opportunities for sustainable village tourism. This empowerment is not an end but the first step on a long journey toward promotional self-sufficiency in the digital era.

Abstract

The KAGUM cooperative is a cooperative in Malaysia, namely in Malacca, which has a lot of members, around 700 teachers. Where the activity with technical engineering is somewhat lacking. In addition, this cooperative has an inn rental business, which is a multi-storey building in front of the office. The application of engineering in the management of cooperative business units is sought on the community service of lecturers from Indonesia in various fields and is an important strategy in improving operational efficiency and competitiveness of cooperatives in the modern era. The application of this community service carried out technical engineering carried out at the KAGUM Cooperative, Malacca, as a cooperative model based on productivity and work efficiency. The methods used include field observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation of the work system and operations of the cooperative business unit. The community service from Indonesia at the KAGUM Cooperative shows that the optimization of workflows, the application of appropriate technology, and technical training for members and administrators of the cooperative contribute significantly to the cost efficiency and increase of the income of this cooperative. The application of engineering not only has an impact on the productivity of business units, but also strengthens the cooperative governance system as a whole.

Abstract

International Community Service (PKM) has carried out activities in cross-border collaboration, especially between cooperatives in Malaysia and Indonesia. Mock study activities and field visits to leading cooperatives such as ANGKASA Malaysia which stands for ANGKASA is (Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad), This cooperative is the Malaysian national peak cooperative that oversees all types of cooperatives, functioning as a representative body of the Malaysian cooperative movement. Known for its very large membership scale (12 million+), focusing on the socioeconomic well-being of members, facilitating payroll deduction loans. and the service team digitally transformed with an updated credit and service ecosystem to face the modern era, becoming an example of a large cooperative that is actively developing the potential of cooperatives in Malaysia. The adoption of appropriate technology plays a significant role in the efficiency and productivity of cooperative business units. Through a mechanical engineering perspective, this team examines the potential for technology transfer that can be adapted by higher education cooperatives in Indonesia, including agricultural product processing systems, mechanization of production businesses, and automation of cooperative data management. The results of the study show that the simple but effective application of engineering techniques, such as the use of semi-automatic packaging machines and digital inventory systems, is able to increase the efficiency of cooperative work by up to 30%. These findings provide important recommendations for cross-border technology transfer strategies within the framework of cooperative-based economic strengthening. This article contributes to the development of transnational cooperative partnership models and the relevance of engineering in community economic empowerment through cooperatives.
