Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to find the type, function, and style any meaning contained in the lyrics Iwan Fals Album 50-50, 2007. This study examines every song contained therein, as well as classifying according to the type of style, as well as reviewing function, and know the meaning to be conveyed through the lyrics of the song. This study used a qualitative approach using content analysis method. Researchers first collected data in the form of song, then perform an analysis of the lyrics on the album 50:50 in 2007 to find a function of the type of style that is discovered, and the meaning of what is contained in it. The results of the study researchers found that in this 2007 album 50:50 was found three types of style groups: (1) Comparative Languages force, (2) the language style of contention, (3) the language style affirmation. From the overall style of the existing language, the author is more dominant in the style of metaphorical language in conveying the message to be conveyed through the lyrics of the song. Research on 50:50 Album Iwan Fals work shows that, more often using metaphorical language style. This can be seen in the table above that the style of language is more dominant metaphor used by the results of 28.9% from 13 emerging data from a total of 45 data that has been discovered by researchers. The use of stylistic metaphors in the lyrics Iwan Fals, are actually trying to portray through the lyrics as a form that seeks comparing with the actual situation. Abstract

The objective of this action research is to find out how to increase the students’ speaking proficiency in French by using collaborative learning method. This research was conducted at Jakarta Tourism Academy. The participants of this research were students of the 2013/2014 academic years joining French Lecturer. The research method used was action research which was conducted in 2 cycles. The procedures of this action research were planning, acting, observing, reflecting, replanning.The result of this research indicates that after being given the action at cycles 1 and 2, the students’ speaking competence in using French increase step by step. Based on the research, it can be concluded that Colaborative learning method in teaching French can increase the students’ French speaking competence.

Abstract

This research is to gain a comprehensive understanding about character education in Indonesian language learning process of eleventh grade science students in SMA Islam Al- Azhar Kelapa Gading Jakarta. The goal is elaborated in four subfocus, namely (1) character education stated in the syllabus, (2) implementation of character education in learning process, (3) the role of teachers and learners in character education, and (4) learning evaluation system character education in Indonesian language. This study used qualitative method with ethnography methods. From this study, it is concluded that character education in Indonesia language learning in SMA Islam Al-Azhar Kelapa Gading Jakarta is a blend of the curriculum 2013 with the curriculum of character education developed by the school, and is divided into four pillars: rabbaniyyah, insaniyyah, ilmiyyah, and alamiyyah. These four pillars are integrated into a complete and ongoing learning activities so that the Islamic character instilled on students is expected to be inherent in them and applied in everyday life.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out the correlation between self-efficacy and language style mastery with novel appreciation ability either partially or simultaneously. This research was conducted at eight grade of SMAN 8 Bengkulu in 2015. The samples of this research were 40 students by using simple random sampling. This research used correlational method between X and Y variables. The data were analyzed by using regression and correlation analysis. The result of this research indicate that (1) there is a positive correlation between self- efficacy with novel appreciation ability with correlation coefficient is 0.694 and determination coefficient is 69, 4%, it has regression equation Y = -46,766 + 1,023 X1 (2) there is a positive correlation between language style mastery with novel appreciation ability with correlation coefficient is 0.53 and determination coefficient is 53%, it has regression equation Y = 40,.339 + 1,776 X2 (3) there is a positive correlation between self-efficacy and language style mastery all together with novel appreciation ability. Based on the result of the research, the researcher concluded that novel appreciation ability can be improved by increasing self-efficacy and language style mastery with correlation coefficient is 0.801 and determination coefficient 80.1%, it has regression equation Y = -33.970 + 0,762 X1 +0,945 X2..

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine (1) the social critiques contained in a collection of poems "The Portrait of development in the Poetry" by W.S. Rendra, (2) the existing political criticism in the poetry collection of "The Portrait of Development in Poetry" Work W.S. Rendra, (3) causes of their social criticism in the collection of poems "The Portrait of Development in Poetry" Work W.S. Rendra, and (4) The cause of their political critiques in the collection of poems "The Portrait of Development in the Poetry" by W.S. Rendra. The method used was a qualitative method of sociological literary review, based on the results f the analysis; it revealed that there was an element in the analysis of social and political critiques. Namely, there were 24 poems from 26 poems, each of 14 poems about the 10 social and political critiques. Meanwhile, in analyzing social critiques, I obtained three main aspects: (1) a critique of social justice, (2) critiques of the government’s economy and (3) critiques of human rights. Furthermore, in analyzing political critiques, I found there were three main aspects, which consisted of (1) critiques of the government, (2) a critique of power, and (3) critiques of the institution. While the cause of social critiques that is made up of social inequality and social injustice. And the latter is the cause of political critiques, namely power. This is exactly what the focus of the author to find social and political critiques in this study

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the kind of error in English speech of public speaking, to identify the cause of error in English speech of public speaking, and to identify the impact of error in English speech of public speaking. This research conducted in class VIII of Ushuluddin Boarding School South of Lampung. This research employed a qualitative approach and used content analysis as the method of study. A data of the research was 15 documentation record of student’s English speech. To find out the error in students English speech of public speaking, the surface structure taxonomy was used for analyzing of phonology error, and the linguistic category classification and the surface structure taxonomy were used for analyzing of morphology and syntax error.The findings show; (1) the kinds of error in phonology were 156 substitution errors, 136 omission errors and 57 addition errors. Therefore the most dominant error in phonology was substitution error of vowel (102). The total of number errors in morphology and syntax were 169 errors, and the most dominant error in morphology and syntax was diction errors (50). The kinds of error in morphology and syntax were 83 misformation errors, 46 misordering errors, 33 omission errors and 7 addition errors. (2) The cause of error in phonology, morphology and syntax was intra language. Intra language is the error made by the learners in learning English. (3) There are found two impacts of errors in student’s speech; 1) an error in phonology called global error. Global error is makes an utterance difficult to understand. 2) An error in morphology and syntax called local error. Local error is not influence a message of the speech

Abstract

This study aimed to describe and assess the speech acts in the Republic of Indonesia Presidential Debate in 2014 on June 15, 2014 with the theme of Economic Development and Social Welfare. This research is a qualitative descriptive study discourse analysis. Data of this study were (1) assertive speech acts in the presidential debate in 2014; (2) directive speech acts in a presidential debate in 2014; (3) The expressive speech acts in a presidential debate in 2014; (4) commissive speech acts in a presidential debate in 2014; and (5) the declaration speech acts in the 2014 presidential debate.This research is the source of debate Republican candidate for President in 2014 in the form of speech acts revealed by the 2014 Republican Presidential candidate in the debate. The findings of this study are illocutionary speech acts are used in every speech from both presidential candidates in the 2014 presidential debate and comparison of speech of both presidential candidates.This study is recommended to add insight to the general public, as a consideration of teaching materials for colleges and high schools

Abstract

The objective of this research is to fine out the effect of Learning method and cognitive styles on the ability to write descriptive text. The research was conducted at the department of English education STKIP Hamzanwadi Selong East Lombok West Nusa Tenggara. in the 2014/2015 academic year. The population was the second semester. The sample size was 70 students.The method used in this study was an experimental method by using factorial design 2X2. The data were analyze by using a two-factorial ANAVA at the significance level α 0,05. In this design, Learning method as a treatment consisting of inquiry method and modeling method, while the cognitive styles consists of field-independent (FI) and filed-dependent (FD), this research findings are: (1) the ability of writing descriptive text the group of students who learned with inquiry methods is higher than those who learned with modeling method; (2) the ability of writing descriptive text of the group of students who has filed-independent cognitive style is higher than those who have filed-dependent cognitive style; (3) there is an interaction effect between Learning method and the cognitive styles on the writing English descriptive text; (4) the ability of writing descriptive text of the students who learned with inquiry method is higher than those who learned with modeling method, for the group who have field-independent cognitive styles; (5) the ability of writing descriptive text of the students who learned whit modeling method is higher than those who learned with inquiry method, for the group who have field-dependent cognitive styles

Abstract

The objective of the research was to know whether there are (1) correlations between self-concept and speaking Indonesian laguage skills, (2) social intelligence and speaking Indonesian laguage skills, (3) between self-concept and social intelligence with speaking Indonesian laguage skills simultaneously. This research was conducted at XI grade in SMA Diponegoro 1 Jakarta. The samples of this research were 40 students. This research were using survey method of regression analitic and correlational technique.The results of the research conclude that (1) there were positive and significant correlation between self-concept (X1) and speaking Indonesian laguage skills (Y) with ry1 is 0,914 and regression equation is Ŷ = 6,441 + 0,110X1; (2) there were positive and significant correlation between social intelligence (X2) and speaking Indonesian laguage skills (Y) with ry2 is 0,941 and regression equation is Ŷ = 9,577 + 0,075X2; and (3) there were positive and significant correlation between self-concept (X1) and social intelligence (X2) with speaking Indonesian laguage skills (Y) with ry12 is 0,959 and regression equation is Ŷ = 7,578 + 0,046X1 + 0,049X2. The results of this research conclude that there is a significant relationship between (1) self-concept and speaking Indonesian laguage skills, (2) social intelligence and speaking Indonesian laguage skills, (3) self- concept and social intelligence with speaking Indonesian language skills simultaneously

Abstract

This study aims to gain an understanding of The Lost Symbol novel by Dan brown focuses on the values of character education as motivation to be a man of noble. The values of character education is analyzed using semiotic structuralism, aims to determine the meaning and signs contained in The Lost Symbol novel. The method used is qualitative research by interpreting the words in the form of dialogues, expressions and body gestures of the characters in the story. Data used in the form of text that describes the content of the values of character education through a document form of The Lost Symbol novel by Dan Brown. The novel describes how to establish a true frienship, the teacher as hero inchanging times, and the role of parents in instiling positive character in children early. This study found the values of character education obtained in each chapter. The values of character education in The Lost Symbol novel included the values of character education in relation to God, the values of character education in relation to ourselves, the values of character education in relation to others, the values of character in relation to the environment, and the values of nationality
