Abstract

Sleep is a fundamental human need that plays a crucial role in maintaining both physical and mental health. Poor sleep quality can trigger a variety of health problems, ranging from decreased concentration to an increased risk of chronic diseases. The complexity of factors influencing sleep quality—such as stress levels, heart rate, blood pressure, physical activity, and lifestyle—makes its assessment difficult through direct observation alone. Therefore, data mining approaches are increasingly utilized to identify relevant patterns in sleep-related data. This study aims to compare the performance of the C4.5 (Decision Tree) algorithm and the Naïve Bayes algorithm in predicting sleep quality using the Sleep Health and Lifestyle dataset, which contains information from 374 respondents. The research method applied is a quantitative comparative approach employing classification techniques with 10-fold cross-validation to ensure robust evaluation. Model performance is assessed using accuracy, precision, and recall metrics to provide a comprehensive understanding of the effectiveness of each algorithm. The findings indicate that the C4.5 algorithm achieves an accuracy of 96.26% and offers advantages in terms of interpretability through its decision tree visualization, enabling easier understanding of variable relationships. In contrast, the Naïve Bayes algorithm demonstrates superior predictive performance, achieving an accuracy of 98.66% along with consistently high precision and recall across nearly all classes. These results suggest that Naïve Bayes is more effective for predictive tasks involving sleep quality, while C4.5 remains highly valuable when the goal is to interpret variable interactions and decision rules. Overall, this research highlights the potential of data mining techniques in health informatics, particularly in improving the understanding and prediction of sleep quality, which in turn can contribute to better prevention and management of sleep-related health issues.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is a painful cramping or aching sensation in the lower abdomen, often radiating to the lower back, hips, and thighs. This condition significantly affects daily activities, limiting women’s physical and academic performance, particularly among female students who frequently experience dysmenorrhea during menstruation. Various interventions can help prevent or reduce the prevalence and severity of dysmenorrhea, including specific physical exercises such as McKenzie exercises and Kegel exercises. McKenzie exercises focus on strengthening and mobilizing the lower back and abdominal muscles, whereas Kegel exercises target the pelvic floor muscles to enhance circulation and reduce uterine tension. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in effectiveness between Kegel exercises and McKenzie exercises in alleviating dysmenorrhea pain among adolescents aged 12–15 years at SMP Negeri 28 Semarang. The study employed an experimental two-group pre-posttest design with a total sample of 22 female students who met the inclusion criteria. The Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) technique was used to assign participants to the intervention groups. Pain intensity was measured using the Quadruple Visual Analog Scale (QVAS) both before and after the interventions, which were administered three times per week over a three-week period. The results showed a statistically significant reduction in pain for both groups, with a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), indicating that both McKenzie and Kegel exercises effectively decreased dysmenorrhea pain. The study concluded that there is a measurable difference in the effectiveness of these two exercise interventions, emphasizing the importance of selecting appropriate physical exercises tailored to adolescent students for dysmenorrhea management. These findings provide evidence-based guidance for educators, healthcare providers, and adolescents seeking non-pharmacological strategies to reduce menstrual pain and improve quality of life.

Abstract

Preoperative anxiety is one of the psychological problems that patients often experience and can affect physiological stability, response to anesthesia, and the postoperative recovery process. High levels of anxiety in patients leading up to surgery can have negative impacts, both physically and emotionally. One of the interventions that can be done to reduce anxiety is therapeutic communication by nurses. Therapeutic communication has an important role in creating a relationship of mutual trust, providing a sense of security, and helping patients understand the medical procedures to be undertaken. However, there are still conditions where therapeutic communication has not been implemented optimally. This study aims to determine the relationship between nurses' therapeutic communication and the level of anxiety of preoperative patients at RSI Pekajangan. The study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design and involved 72 respondents who were selected through purposive sampling techniques. The research instruments included a therapeutic communication questionnaire and the Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale (APAIS). Data analysis was carried out using the Spearman Rank test. The results showed that most respondents rated therapeutic communication in the categories of good (81.9%) and moderate anxiety (72.2%). Statistical tests showed a significant relationship between nurses' therapeutic communication and preoperative patients' anxiety levels (p = 0.027) and moderate correlation strength (r = -0.260). The conclusion of this study confirms that therapeutic communication plays a role in lowering patients' anxiety, so it is recommended that nurses improve therapeutic communication skills as part of pre-surgical interventions.

Abstract

The students often faced experiences that cause anxiety in the early semester of the college period, especially in the presentation session. To overcome this, students need strong coping strategies. Coping strategies help people deal with stress. We interviewed 12 students from the 2024 batch at Abulyatama University's Nursing Program on October 29, 2024. Most of them (10 out of 12) said they often feel anxious and nervous when presenting or speaking in front of many people, which makes them less focused. This study aims to explore the correlation of coping strategies with anxiety during presentation among college students. This study uses a descriptive analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample was 189 Diploma III nursing students 2024,the study took from march 21st to may 1st,2025 and chosen using a total sampling technique. The questionnaire, Brief Cope, and PSAS with Cronbach's Alpha were employed in this study. The result indicated 0.6 for coping strategies and PSAS Cronbach Alpha = 0.90. Univariate and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test was used to analyze the data. The finding reveals that the coping strategies were Public Speaking Anxiety, which is the medium category, with as many as 87 respondents (58.8). Based on the result of the chi-square test, the ρ-value is 0.000 (< 0.05). The findings indicate a correlation between coping strategies and anxiety during presentation among students. This study is expected to provide valuable insights and knowledge for educators and mentors on the benefits of Coping Strategies in enhancing public speaking confidence and improving teaching quality.
