Abstract

This community service program aims to introduce aquaculture activities to students of Sekolah Kristen Caritas Ambon through a fieldtrip method at the Field Station of Marine Science in Hila. The activity is a collaboration between the Aquaculture Department of Pattimura University and the school, employing an interactive educational approach. The delivered materials included the introduction of cultured fish species, fish anatomy, types of culture systems (floating net cages and tidal ponds), as well as post-harvest facilities such as cold storage. This exploratory activity is designed to increase students' interest and understanding of aquatic ecosystems and the importance of environmental sustainability from an early age. Evaluation was conducted through interactive Q&A sessions. The results indicated high enthusiasm from students, teachers, and parents, as well as the achievement of the educational objectives. This activity supports the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education in the form of environmental and aquaculture-based educational outreach.

Abstract

Pengenalan tentang ekosistem laut kepada generasi muda seperti di Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) memegang peran penting dalam peningkatan literasi sains. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan literasi sains para siswa SMP 8 Ambon terkait ekosistem laut. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat di SMP 8 Ambon ini dilaksanakan pada hari Jumat, 30 Agustus 2024. Kegiatan ini diikuti sebanyak 40 siswa yang terdari kelas XI-1 dan XI-2. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan melalui beberapa tahapan yaitu perizinan berupa koordinasi dengan pihak sekolah, persiapan berupa pembuatan materi presentasi, pelaksanaan berupa pemberian materi tentang ekosistem laut, evaluasi berupa hasil jawaban pre-test dan post-test serta pemberian hadiah bagi siswa yang bisa menjawab pertanyaan dengan benar. Siswa SMP Sekolah Dian Harapan semakin mengenal dan mengetahui tentang ekosistem laut sehingga penting untuk dijaga kelestarian sumber daya alam di laut. Hasil kegiatan ini diharapkan bahwa literasi sains Siswa SMP Negeri 8 Ambon terkait ekosistem laut semakin meningkat sehingga dapat menjaga serta melestarikan sumber daya alam di laut.

Abstract

Surimi can be processed into a variety of products through diversification of fishery-based processed goods, including meatballs and nuggets. Meatballs and nuggets are derivative products of surimi that are easy to prepare but can yield nutritious products and increase household income through surimi-based processing businesses. Leahari is a coastal village located on Ambon Island with potential in fishery products, particularly fish, but this potential has not been fully utilized, especially in efforts to improve household economic conditions. This community service activity is expected to be a solution for utilizing fish catches to produce nutritious and economically valuable products.

Abstract

One of the food products derived from seaweed is nori, a healthy snack rich in nutrients. Nori products are imported and sold in large supermarkets, making local seaweed nori less well-known to the community. The purpose of this Community Service Program (PKM) is to promote seaweed nori snacks to children and adolescents in Hative Kecil Village, Sirimau District, Ambon City. The expected benefit of this PKM is that seaweed nori products become one of the preferred healthy and nutritious snack options in the community. The PKM implementation uses a lecture method with media in the form of leaflets, organoleptic assessment sheets, and nori products. The lecture provides education about seaweed nori products, including types and variants, nutritional value, purchase locations, and prices. The results of the PKM show that Tae kae noi and nori mamasuka snacks can be accepted by children and adolescents in Hative Kecil Village. Elementary school children gave a fairly positive response because they were introduced to nori products for the first time. Adolescents gave a very positive response to nori products because they had previously purchased nori. The preference for nori depends on attractive packaging and nori variants with specific flavors, aromas, textures, and nutritional values.

Abstract

Base maps are one of the important elements in presenting detailed geospatial information about the physical conditions of an area, including complementary features such as roads, rivers, contours, administrative boundaries and land use, which are very much needed in the fields of spatial planning, spatial development, infrastructure development, disaster mitigation, to natural resource management. The purpose of this training is for participants to understand the basic concepts of mapping, master geospatial data collection and processing techniques, and be able to produce accurate and informative base maps. This training was held on Saturday, May 3, 2023 at the Nutrihub Kate-Kate Building, Ambon City, involving 12 participants consisting of young men and women from Poka Village. The training took place using a combination of methods, namely Theory, Discussion, and Direct Practice of making base maps using the ArcGIS application. The results of the training showed that the participants could understand the basics of map making and were able to make base maps using the ArcGIS application.

Abstract

Istri memiliki peran yang penting dalam membantu perekonomian keluarga. Pulau Kosong, Kota Jayapura merupakan Masyarakat yang bermata pencaharian sebagai Nelayan. Tingkat pengetahuan kelompok Ibu – Ibu Nelayan Pulau Kosong masih belum mampu membuat berbagai olahan dari ikan tuna sirip kuning karena kurang berkembangnya motivasi dan inovasi masyarakat dalam mengembangkan produk olahan ikan untuk dijadikan sebagai usaha sampingan dalam meningkatkan pendapatan. Pendekatan Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) digunakan dalam kegiatan ini. Melalui pendekatan ini, masyarakat memiliki peran besar dalam pelaksanaanya dan dapat membuat olahan produk perikanan yaitu green fish nugget yang menggunakan daging ikan Tuna dengan dicampur daun kelor dengan kandungan β- karoten yang memiliki sifat fungsional sebagai antioksidan serta dapat meningkatkan wawasan serta pengetahuan kelompok istri nelayan dalam mendiversifikasikan hasil tangakapan menjadi sebuah produk food frozen untuk menjadi usaha demi meningkatkan pendapatanserta memenuhi kebutuhan keluarga.

Abstract

Seaweed is one of the leading types of aquaculture commodities with competitive market economic value in both domestic and export markets. This is partly because in addition to functioning as food, it is also due to the diversification of seaweed products that have. Wael Hamlet is one of the hamlets located in Piru Village, West Seram District. The majority of people in Wael Hamlet work as fishermen and cultivators, both fish farming and seaweed cultivation. Wael Hamlet is one of the E. Cottoni producing areas in West Seram Regency. The existing condition of seaweed cultivation in Wael Hamlet is currently experiencing a decline and even the fishermen do not produce seaweed. The conclusion of this activity is that the eucheuma cotonii seaweed cultivation business in the hamlet of Wael, West Seram Regency has decreased production due to disease attacks and pests in the form of baronagn fish and also turtles.
