Abstract

Eggshell is a household waste that is rich in calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) and has potential as a bio-calcium oxide (CaO) raw material. Lampung Province, one of Indonesia's egg production centers, produces a considerable number of eggshells; however, the processing has not been optimal. This study aims to evaluate the utilization of eggshells as raw material for CaO through sintering and characterization using X-ray fluorescence (XRF). The processing included washing, drying, grinding, and roasting at 900°C. XRF analysis showed a CaO content of 98.865%, with minimal impurities. The findings suggest that local eggshells can serve as an alternative raw material for CaO, supporting the circular economy in MSMEs and communities, while also being environmentally friendly for both the agricultural and industrial sectors.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of School-Based Management (SBM) and its impact on parental participation at MAN 12 West Jakarta. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed to gain an in-depth understanding of the management process and parental involvement. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The results show that SBM has been well implemented, particularly in participatory planning that actively involves parents in policy formulation. However, parental participation in the management implementation and supervision stages still requires improvement due to time constraints and suboptimal communication. The school committee plays a crucial role as a mediator between the school and parents, but direct parental involvement remains limited. Digital communication media have helped enhance interactions but have not reached all parents equally. This study concludes that SBM at MAN 12 West Jakarta effectively promotes parental participation, yet more inclusive communication and empowerment strategies are needed to increase parental engagement in all aspects of school management. The findings contribute valuable insights for developing participatory and community-based educational management in madrasahs.

Abstract

Nanofiber is a fiber measuring nanometers to micrometers, often used in the medical, energy, filtration, and other fields. The formation of nanofiber with the main ingredient, namely Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA), this is because of its biodegradable, biocompatible, and chemically stable properties, but has the weakness of being easily degraded when in contact with water. This study examines the effect of electrospinning parameters on the morphology of 10% w/v PVA nanofiber, with parameters namely voltage of 10 and 12 kV, nozzle-collector distance of 10 and 15 cm. Morphological testing was carried out using a Field Emission-Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM) and Contact Angle (CA) test. The test results show that PVA nanofiber has a fiber diameter with a value of NFZ.1; 80 - 406 nm, NFZ.2; 61.7 - 248.9 nm, with a continuous fiber structure and without significant defects, the resulting contact angle value of NFZ.1; 50.05o and NFZ.2; 38.75o, the contact angle value of NFZ.1 is higher than NFZ.2. The nanofiber with the smallest diameter is NFZ.2 and the largest contact angle value is NFZ.1. The results of this research show that the morphology of nanofiber significantly influences the contact angle value.

Abstract

Indonesia's vast geothermal potential (23.7 GW, 40% of global reserves) faces operational challenges from silica scaling amorphous SiO₂ deposition in pipelines and equipment. This review repositions scaling from a waste problem to a strategic resource, leveraging its high silica content (88–97%), amorphous structure, and unique morphology. Through systematic literature analysis, we identify two key scaling formation pathways (heterogeneous botryoidal layers and homogeneous 3D aggregates) influenced by temperature, pH, and flow dynamics. Silica scaling exhibits high surface area (up to 50 m²/g) and mesoporosity (2–50 nm), enabling extraction via alkali-acid processing into functional materials. Impurities (Fe, Al, Ca) are transformed into value-added components for catalysts, geopolymers, and composites. We map industrial applications adsorbents, ceramic fillers, and nanostructured materials based on material properties and local scalability. This circular economy approach reduces operational costs while creating new revenue streams. Key barriers include standardization gaps and supply chain integration, necessitating industry-geothermal sector collaboration for sustainable implementation in Indonesia.
