Abstract

Lading Hotel is one of the hotel industries that has a strategic location in the city center of Banda Aceh. Lading Hotel produces domestic wastewater as much as 95,000 L / day generated from kitchen activities, laundry, bathrooms, and cafes. The wastewater preliminary results showed the parameter COD 381 mg / L and TSS 371 mg / L has exceeded the quality standards set by the government. To addresses these problems, this study aims to do a design planning of the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Hotel Lading. The steps of treatment technology chosen in this study consist of equalization basins, sedimentation basins with additional aeration from blowers, anaerobic biofilter basins and subsurface flow type wetlands. The planning stages include collecting data, processing data, design planning, making BoQ and drawing conclusions. The results of dimensions calculation for design drawings e.i: the equalization basin is 3.6 m × 2 m × 3 m (7.4 m2), sedimentation basin with dimensions of 3.6 m × 1.8 m × 3 m (6.48 m2), anaerobic biofilter basin with dimensions of 2.4 m × 1.2 m × 3 m (2.88 m2) and Subsurface wetland dimensions of 4 m × 1 m × 1 m (4 m2). Total land area required for WWTP design planning was 20.76 m2.

Abstract

Tofu wastewater effluent contained high value of BOD, COD, and suspended solids which needed treatment before disposed to environment. The research aims to study the adsorption of BOD and COD in tofu wastewater using chemically impregnated carbon derived from coffee husks (Coffea Arabica L.). The Arabica coffee husk carbon (ACHC) activated with ZnCl2 0.1 N and CaCl2 0.1N for 3 hours. Carbon characterization compared with Indonesian standard of SNI No.06-3730-1995, and the surface area was examined by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The results showed that the moisture and ash content characteristics has met the Indonesian standard, but the iodine adsorption capacity was decreased with longer activation time. The highest iodine adsorption recorded at 888.37 mg/gr adsorbent using ZnCl2 0.1 N at 1 h activated time. The BOD and COD removal efficiency were 88% and 25%, for ACHC with ZnCl2 0.1N; Meanwhile carbon with CaCl2 0.1N has a removal efficiency 66% and 24% for BOD and COD, respectively. In conclusion, the variation of chemical activators and the longer contacted time gave significant effect on the removal of pH, BOD and COD from tofu wastewater. To obtain optimum COD adsorption efficiency in wastewater treatment, other factors such as the impregnation ratio, the activators concentration, the mixing time, and its combination method were needed further investigation.

Abstract

The development of lithium batteries is one type of research that continues to be developed. Recently, lithium batteries have become the most widely used source of electrical energy as raw materials for the manufacture of lithium batteries. This study aims to compare the synthesis with Co precipitation and sol-gel methods as electrodes in lithium batteries. Nanosized particles were characterized for characterization using (X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray (XRD) and (SEM) -EDS). Based on the XRF characterization test, the results showed that the chemical composition of Magnetite Fe3O4 contained in the iron sands of the Syiah Kuala beach showed material purities of 87.10%, 86.73%, and 81.42% (Magnetite Separation). This shows that the synthesis of Fe3O4 using the sol-gel method yields results with better material purity than the coprecipitation method. The results of the SEM-EDS characterization test observations were based on particle analysis and the distribution observed on the surface morphology of the particles, where the sol-gel method provided precise results for the synthesis of Fe3O4 magnetite nanoparticles. The results of the characterization test based on the EDS analysis based on the EDS test obtained the amount of Fe3O4 of 70.00%, this indicates that the composition of iron provides a high value compared to other components contained in it

Abstract

This scoping review aims to analyze Place-based Education (PBE) research in the context of Environmental Education (EE), Outdoor Education, and History Education which have been published in peer-reviewed journals in the last twenty years. Researchers map the themes included in this research corpus, highlight EE and other specific subjects such as Outdoor Education and History Education where PBE was analyzed, and categorize the themes that emerged from the research. The Model of PBE dimensions by Ardoin et al. (2012) has been referred to as the main model in this research. Recently, PBE took part as a pedagogical approach that emphasizes the connection between the teaching and learning process. The physical place and nature are the most important elements in PBE. Teachers, students, and the community also play their roles in PBE. It incorporates the meanings and experiences of place in teaching and learning, which can extend beyond the classroom. The purpose of this study is to explore the dimensions of place: A confirmatory factor analysis of data from three ecoregional sites. The implication of the study can be determining the policymakers, administrators, scholars, educators as well as teachers in many countries increasingly seek to integrate PBE as a pedagogical approach into curricula. The findings will help other researchers steer future research on PBE. This research will be a guide for new educational policy and can be the best school practice.

Abstract

Social media is a means of spreading news from and to the wider community. However, this technological progress is not accompanied by wisdom in using it. Hate speech is often found, which is very dangerous and contradicts the teachings of Islam, which encourages its followers to always respect each other's creatures. This research aims to determine the impact of hate speech on the Tablighi Jama'ah’s preaching on social media. Researchers used a qualitative approach with a literature study. Data sources include reports, news, religious lectures, articles, and other documents relevant to the topic of this discussion. The data collection method was carried out through library research on writings related to hate speech from an Islamic perspective. The data analysis used is content analysis using an inductive and deductive approach. The result of the discussion is that hate speech is speech that violates religious rules. Because hate speech can hurt other people. Types of hate speech according to Islam are backbiting, lying, namimah, or provocation, and slander. The factors that cause hate speech to occur are internal and external factors. The principles that must be possessed in order to avoid hate speech behavior are honesty, fairness, accuracy, and straight motives. The solution is the need for cooperation from all parties, open discussion about clear boundaries between hate speech and freedom of speech, and a comprehensive and intensive view of human nature.
