Abstract

English is a relatively difficult subject for Indonesian-speaking learners. The anxiety of learning English is reported to be associated with the level of English learning achievement. To understand the Universitas Serambi Mekkah students’ psychological states towards English learning in general, this study surveyed the first-year students’ English language learning anxiety using a questionnaire developed by Iwaniec (2014). This anxiety measuring tool uses five-point Likert-scale questions and consists of 8 items. The population was all new students of the 2023 Academic Year at Universitas Serambi Mekkah with a total number of 1264. There were 184 students from three faculties who participated in the survey. Findings from the eight statements regarding English language learning anxiety show that the first-year students of Universitas Serambi Mekkah in general have a relatively high level of anxiety in learning English. The classroom performance type of anxiety is higher than the academic-achievement one. This implies that the USM English language learners need a secure English learning environment to reduce their learning anxiety.

Abstract

Poverty is an important social problem and an interesting issue for researchers. This research examines the influence of education and economic growth on poverty in Aceh Province. Research data uses 23 districts/cities from 2011 to 2020. Data analysis uses the Random Effect (RE) method. The research results found that education had a significant negative effect. Increasing education by one year can reduce poverty by 2.72 percent. Different things were regionally found, where the influence of education only occurred in four regions, while two regions (west and south) had no effect. However, economic growth had no effect on poverty except north zone. Therefore, policymakers need to pay attention to education as an important indicator in reducing poverty and improving the quality of economic growth so that poor people can feel the benefits.

Abstract

Implementing an efficient control system in modern industry requires proper integration between SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) software, PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) control, and measurement parameters such as level and pressure. This thesis aims to investigate the implementation of Vijeo Citect software in SCADA-based level and pressure control using Twido PLC control to control field devices related to level and pressure. Vijeo Citect software is configured to monitor and control the system in real-time, as well as integrate data from the Twido PLC to analyze and respond to desired level and pressure parameters. The results of this research illustrate that the implementation of Vijeo Citect in level and pressure control using the Twido PLC as a controller provides an effective and responsive solution. When the surface level is 0% (0 cm), the level transmitter emits a current of 3.85 mAmp and the pressure transmitter emits a current of 3.9 mAmp and when the surface level is 90% (60cm) the level transmitter produces a current of 5.65 mAmp while the pressure transmitter produces a current of 7.81 mAmp with a pressure of 2.5 bar after closing the solenoid valve.

Abstract

The enhancement of human activity has significantly influenced the increase in waste production. The Ministry of Environment and Forestry 2022 reports that Indonesia produced 68.7 tons of waste per year, and the largest waste contribution came from household activities. Garbage is an agent of disease transmission, so it must be managed well. Make an eco-enzyme to discard household waste materials, especially kitchen waste. Therefore, eco-enzymes can be used as an alternative to reduce household waste production. This study is a quasi-experiment research with a one-group pre and post-test design. This research aims to explore the community knowledge before and after being given education about eco-enzymes. The population in this study was all mothers who had toddlers in Lam Teungoh village, Peukan Bada District Aceh Besar Regency. Some mothers with toddlers were used as research samples of 55 people using purposive sampling techniques—data was collected using a questionnaire that the researcher had designed. The data analysis used a paired T-test with a confidence interval of 95%. The result showed that there was an increase in the average knowledge score of mothers of toddlers before (57,09) and after being given eco-enzyme counseling (79,3182), with a significant value (p-value) of 0.000. This shows that eco-enzyme promotion can increase the knowledge of mothers of toddlers significantly at the 95% confidence interval (p<0.05).
