Abstract

Pregnancy is a critical phase that demands careful attention to maternal health and well-being. However, the use of medication during pregnancy remains a controversial issue, often accompanied by confusion and fear. This study aims to explore pregnant women’s perceptions of drug use, assess their level of knowledge regarding drug safety, and examine the implications of these perceptions for maternal and fetal health. A quantitative cross-sectional design was employed with 120 pregnant women as respondents, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected via structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and chi-square tests. The results revealed that 68.3% of respondents had negative perceptions of drug use during pregnancy, and 52.5% had low knowledge about medication safety. A significant relationship was found between perception and adherence to prescribed medication (p = 0.004). The findings highlight the urgent need for improved health education and counseling to ensure the safe and effective use of medication during pregnancy. Strengthening the role of healthcare providers in delivering accurate information can reduce unnecessary risks to both mothers and their unborn children.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of reproductive health counseling in improving knowledge, attitudes, and health outcomes among pregnant adolescents, as well as its role in preventing high-risk pregnancies. A quasi-experimental design was used with two groups: an experimental group receiving structured counseling sessions and a control group receiving standard care. Data were collected through pretest and posttest questionnaires assessing reproductive health knowledge and attitudes, along with medical indicators such as maternal hemoglobin levels, blood pressure, and neonatal birth weight. The results showed a significant improvement in knowledge and positive changes in attitudes among participants in the counseling group compared to the control group. Furthermore, health outcomes such as reduced incidence of anemia and low birth weight were more favorable in the experimental group. These findings indicate that reproductive health counseling is an effective intervention for reducing pregnancy risks and promoting maternal and child health. The study supports integrating adolescent-focused counseling into primary healthcare services to address the unique challenges faced by pregnant teenagers and to improve overall reproductive health outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the responses of administrative staff towards the implementation of the Hospital Management Information System (SIMRS) as part of the digital transformation in the healthcare sector. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this research explores the experiences, perceptions, and challenges faced by staff in using information technology in hospital administrative activities. The findings indicate that the success of SIMRS implementation is heavily influenced by individual factors such as technological skills, age, and work experience, as well as organizational support such as adequate training and infrastructure. Although most staff recognize the benefits of efficiency and data accuracy offered by the technology, barriers such as resistance to change and limitations in facilities remain key challenges. This study provides valuable insights for hospital management in designing more effective technology implementation strategies that are user-centered.

Abstract

Pregnancy is a period full of physical and emotional changes that can trigger anxiety in pregnant women. Emotional support from midwives, as frontline healthcare providers, plays a crucial role in reducing this anxiety. This study aims to systematically review the effectiveness of emotional support provided by midwives on the anxiety levels of pregnant women. The method used involved a literature search from databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar using the keywords “midwife emotional support,” “pregnancy anxiety,” and “maternal mental health.” The results from 10 reviewed studies indicate that emotional support from midwives through counseling, empathetic communication, and home visits—significantly reduces anxiety levels in pregnant women. This study recommends enhancing empathetic communication training for midwives in antenatal care services.

Abstract

This research investigates the link between the workload of nurses and the quality of inpatient care provided. It seeks to explore how varying levels of nurse workload influence the overall standard of care in hospital wards. By utilizing a structured survey distributed to nurses, the study gathers data on workload intensity and its direct correlation with service quality metrics. Findings demonstrate a strong positive relationship between nurse workload and perceived care quality, indicating that when workloads are managed effectively, patient care quality improves. Conversely, the study reveals that excessive workloads contribute to fatigue, stress, and decreased work efficiency, which negatively impacts patient satisfaction. These results align with prior studies, which stress the need for adequate staffing levels and well-managed workloads to maintain high standards of patient care. This research enhances the understanding of nursing work dynamics, providing insights into how workload adjustments can lead to improved service outcomes. The findings also suggest potential avenues for future studies, particularly in exploring the broader impact of nurse workload on patient care and healthcare system performance.

Abstract

In recent years, water birth has become increasingly popular as a more natural and comfortable alternative to conventional methods. This method is believed to reduce pain, speed up the labor process, and provide greater emotional control for mothers. This study aims to explore mothers' subjective perceptions and experiences of water birth through a qualitative approach with phenomenological methods and literature studies. Informants consisted of mothers who underwent water birth, midwives, obstetricians, and health facility managers. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions, and were strengthened by analysis of international academic and policy literature. The results of the study indicate that although many mothers feel more comfortable and satisfied with the water birth experience, there is still a gap between perceptions of comfort and medical safety standards. In Indonesia, limited infrastructure, medical personnel training, and unequal access are major challenges. Therefore, water birth must be carried out with the support of adequate facilities, strict medical protocols, and comprehensive education for pregnant women. This study emphasizes the importance of an evidence-based approach to ensure the safety and effectiveness of this method in the maternal health care system

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has transformed daily life, increasing the time individuals spend interacting with digital devices, known as screen time. This study investigates the impact of screen time duration on cognitive functions, focusing on memory, attention, and executive function. Using a quantitative explanatory research design, data were collected from 150 participants aged 15 to 40 through standardized cognitive assessments and self-reported questionnaires measuring screen time, sleep quality, physical activity, and digital content type. The results indicate a significant negative relationship between prolonged screen time and cognitive performance, moderated by factors such as sleep quality and age. Passive digital consumption was more strongly associated with cognitive decline compared to active, educational use. These findings highlight the importance of managing screen time to preserve cognitive health and inform strategies for healthier digital habits. This research contributes to the understanding of digitalization’s neuropsychological effects and supports the development of guidelines for balanced technology use.

Abstract

Background : Endotracheal intubation is a vital procedure with risk of failure using conventional laryngoscope (CL), especially in difficult anatomy. Video laryngoscope (VL) offers indirect visualization, but its effectiveness remains controversial. Objective : To analyze the effectiveness of VL (including McGrath Mac) versus CL in adult patient, including first-pass succes, intubation time, complications, operator influence and human factors. Methods : Literature search in Pubmed, ScienceDirect and Google Scholar, identifying RCTs (2020-2025) in adults patients. Analysis with the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) selected three high-quality studies (score>75%). Result : VL significantly improved first-pass succes rate: 94% vs. 82% (p<0.001;elective), 85.1% vs. 70.8% (p<0.001; critical), and non-inferiority (COVALENT-T). Cormack-Lehane score ≥ 3 decreased (0.7% vs. 8%; p<0.001). Severe complications were not significantly different (p≥0.82). COVALEN-T integrates human factors (task load, teamwork). Conclusion : VL improves first intubation succes, airway visualization and time efficiency, especially for novice operators, without the risk of additional complications. Findings recommendations need to take into account blade type, operator experience and patient context.
