Abstract

This study presents a systematic literature review exploring the multifaceted role of midwives in enhancing exclusive breastfeeding practices. Drawing from 64 peer-reviewed sources, the research highlights how midwives transcend clinical responsibilities to become pivotal agents of education, emotional support, and community mobilisation. Key findings reveal that midwifery-led education significantly boosts maternal knowledge and awareness, while psychological counselling increases mothers’ confidence and perseverance in breastfeeding. Additionally, midwives play a crucial role in addressing physical and technical challenges that often hinder breastfeeding continuation. Their involvement in community empowerment initiatives and their interpersonal communication skills further amplify their impact, fostering environments that support sustained breastfeeding practices. However, systemic limitations such as inadequate training, workforce shortages, and lack of policy reinforcement frequently obstruct midwives from delivering optimal support. These insights underscore the urgent need for structural reforms that empower midwives with the tools, training, and institutional backing required to effectively promote exclusive breastfeeding. Overall, the study reinforces the critical and multi-dimensional role of midwives as both health practitioners and change agents in maternal and child health strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation) communication in improving the completeness of nurse shift reporting in inpatient wards. Communication errors during handovers are one of the leading causes of mismanagement and adverse patient outcomes in hospitals. The use of SBAR offers a standardized and structured framework that enhances the clarity, accuracy, and relevance of information exchanged between nurses. Employing a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design, this research was conducted in a general inpatient ward of a referral hospital. Data were collected using structured observation checklists to assess the completeness of shift reports before and after SBAR implementation. The results showed a significant increase in report completeness across all four SBAR components following the intervention. SBAR not only improved the structure and quality of communication but also strengthened professional accountability and patient safety. Therefore, SBAR is recommended for formal integration into standard operating procedures for nursing shift handovers in clinical settings.

Abstract

Background: Caregivers of individuals with schizophrenia often experience significant psychological and emotional challenges, including self-stigma and caregiver burden. Understanding these phenomena is essential to develop supportive interventions. Objective: This study aimed to examine the levels of self-stigma and caregiver burden among caregivers of persons with schizophrenia living in the community and to explore the relationship between these two variables. Methods: A cross-sectional study design was employed involving 100 caregivers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using validated self-report questionnaires: the Self-Stigma of Family Members Scale (SSFS) and the Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI). Descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation analysis were conducted to assess the relationship between self-stigma and caregiver burden. Results: The findings indicated that a majority of caregivers experienced moderate to high levels of both self-stigma and caregiver burden. A significant positive correlation was found between self-stigma and caregiver burden (p < 0.01), indicating that higher levels of self-stigma were associated with greater caregiver burden. Conclusion: Self-stigma contributes to the burden experienced by caregivers of individuals with schizophrenia in the community. Interventions aimed at reducing stigma may help alleviate the psychological burden among caregivers and improve their well-being.

Abstract

In recent years, there has been a paradigm shift in exercise practice, from a focus on physical strength to a more holistic and reflective approach. This study aims to explore why Yoga and Pilates are the main choices in exercise trends in 2025, especially in Indonesia. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, eight informants who regularly participate in Yoga or Pilates were interviewed in depth. The results show five main themes: (1) the search for holistic health that includes physical and mental balance; (2) the need for calm amidst the pressures of modern life; (3) flexibility in time, place, and access thanks to digital technology; (4) the influence of social media and online communities as agents of promotion and motivation; and (5) personal transformation and spiritual meaning felt by participants. These findings indicate that Yoga and Pilates are not just physical exercise, but also transformative, reflective, and inclusive self-care practices. The implications of this study point to the importance of supporting widespread access to mindfulness-based exercise, as well as the need for policies that bridge the gap in community participation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the Family-Centered Care (FCC) approach on the optimization of child care in health facilities. FCC is a service approach that positions the family as an active partner in the child care process through open communication, participation in medical decision-making, and respect for family values and culture. The research method used is quantitative analytic with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 100 parents or caregivers of children receiving care at health facilities, selected using purposive sampling techniques. The data collection instrument was a closed-ended questionnaire using a Likert scale that had been tested for validity and reliability. The analysis results showed a strong and significant relationship between the implementation of FCC and the quality of child care (r = 0.624; p < 0.05), as well as a significant positive influence in the regression test (R² = 0.384). The conclusion of this study indicates that the FCC approach greatly contributes to improving child comfort, family satisfaction, and the effectiveness of the healing process. Strengthening policies and healthcare worker training is necessary to encourage comprehensive implementation of FCC.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of husband support in the success of Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (EIBF) implementation in health facilities. EIBF is a crucial step in improving the health and survival of newborns, yet its implementation is often hindered by the lack of family involvement, particularly the husband. This research uses a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design and involves 100 postpartum mothers who gave birth in various types of health facilities. Data were collected through a closed-ended questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-Square test and logistic regression. The results showed that husband support, especially in the form of emotional and informational support, had a significant relationship with the success of EIBF. Mothers who received high support from their husbands were twice as likely to successfully implement EIBF compared to those who did not receive such support. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of involving husbands in education programs and maternal care policies. Health facilities also need to implement a more inclusive and family-friendly service approach to sustainably improve EIBF practices.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Mother of Toddlers Class program in improving postpartum mothers’ practices related to reproductive health care. Postpartum is a vulnerable period often marked by insufficient knowledge and lack of supportive services, especially in rural and semi-urban areas. Through a quasi-experimental design, the study involved postpartum mothers from Surabaya, Sidoarjo, and Pasuruan, divided into intervention and control groups. The intervention group participated in a structured educational program covering topics such as perineal hygiene, early detection of postpartum complications, emotional well-being, and family planning. Data were collected through pre- and post-tests, observations, and interviews. The results demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in knowledge, attitudes, and health practices among mothers who attended the program. Contextual factors such as educational background and family support were found to influence the intervention's success. The study concludes that Mother of Toddlers Class is an effective and scalable model for enhancing postpartum care and should be integrated into national maternal health strategies.

Abstract

The increasing burden of global diseases, particularly non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disorders, has become a major challenge for healthcare systems in many countries, including Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the relationship between lifestyle and healthy behavior with the effectiveness of preventive strategies in reducing disease risk. The research used a quantitative approach through a survey of 190 productive-age respondents in urban and semi-urban areas. Data were collected using closed-ended questionnaires based on a Likert scale and analyzed using Pearson correlation and simple linear regression. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between a healthy lifestyle particularly physical activity and stress management and the preventive strategies adopted by the community. The main barriers in adopting a healthy lifestyle include limited time, access to facilities, and low health literacy. These findings emphasize the importance of an integrated promotive-preventive approach through cross-sectoral policies and support from digital technology to strengthen healthy living behavior as the foundation of sustainable public health.

The development of digital technology has brought significant transformation in various sectors, including the health sector. Digital health technology is now present as a smart solution to increase public awareness of personal and public health. Innovations such as mobile-based health applications, wearable devices, artificial intelligence (AI), and telemedicine not only provide easy access to health information, but also enable real-time monitoring of body conditions and personalization of care. This research aims to explore the various forms of digital health technologies that are currently developing and their impact on increasing awareness and healthy living behaviors among the public. Using a literature review approach of various academic sources and recent industry reports, it was found that effective utilization of digital technologies can improve health knowledge, encourage preventive measures, and accelerate early detection of chronic diseases. In addition, these technologies are also proven to be able to reach populations that were previously difficult to reach by conventional healthcare systems, such as people in remote areas or groups with limited mobility. However, challenges such as the digital divide, data security, and digital literacy are still obstacles that need to be overcome to optimize implementation. Overall, digital health technologies offer great opportunities to create a more inclusive, proactive and sustainable health ecosystem
