Abstract

The attitude of a married couple on family planning acceptors and kinds of the contraceptive implant they take is potentially influenced by several factors, for instance the experience, socio-cultural issues, beliefs, and the facilities. To acquire a positive attitude about family planning requires a good attitude of married women and men toward it as well. Attitude has been seen as a very important realm in shaping someone’s behavior. The purpose of this research is to analyze the correlation of fertile couples’ attitude toward the family planning acceptors and their decision to take such contraceptive implant as an effort for birth controlling. This research is correlational study with cross sectional approach. The population investigated is all fertile age women documented as the family planning acceptor participants in BatuAji Health Center, which is further taken 58 respondents to be the sample through accidental sampling method. The data was collected using questionnaires and was analyzed with Chi Square statistical test. The result presents from 30 respondents with positive attitude, 20 respondents (66.7%) choose contraceptive implant and 10 respondents (33.3%) did not choose any contraceptive implant for birth control. On the other hand, it is reported that from 28 respondents with negative attitude, 8 respondents (28.6%) take contraceptive implant yet, 20 respondents (71.4%) do not take any. As the Chi Square test ensues p-value of 0.005<0.05, it can be confirmed that there is a correlation between the fertile age couples attitude on family planning acceptors with their decision to take certain contraceptive implant methods.

The attempt to achieve good nutritional status forspecifically under five year childrenis inseparable from the role of parents, mainly mothers as caregivers andwho are responsible for preparing as well as organizing family members’ meals, comprising for their toddlers. The background of knowledgeof a mother about the food and its nutrition for children is vastlycrucial. From the results of the research, 62.2% of mothers have sufficient knowledge on children nutrition, 56.1% of them apply good patenting style, and therefore,76.8% of the toddlers possess good nutritional status. Furthermore, chi-square statistical test verifies that there is a correlation between mothers’ knowledge levels and nutritional status of children with p value= 0.000 <0.05, and there is also correlation between mothers’ parenting style with nutritional status of children indicated by p value= 0.003 <0.05. From the findings, it can be concluded that there is a significant correlation between mothers’ knowledge and their parenting styles with the incidence of malnutrition on under five year children in Kelurahan Baran Timur, Meral, Karimun.Lastly, it is suggestedto the respondents to be more aware on their children nutrition byroutinely attending theposyandu and increasing their knowledge also information by attending parenting seminars, counseling and reading any related books.

Abstract

Preeclampsia and eclampsia are estimated to be the major causes of maternal death of 14% laboring mothers per year,in which at the same time, are also associated with high neonatal and maternal mortality as well as morbidity rates. Referring to the data of the RSUD Muhammad Sani Karimun that 102 babies were born with normal delivery, whereas the other 574 births were through C-section surgery andthere also 38 deliveries with vacuum labor. From the total of all deliveries stated, there were 121 cases of preeclampsia and 10 cases of eclampsia. The purpose of this study is to investigate the potential factors that trigger the occurrence of preeclampsia during labors. This study is a quantitative research with analytic survey of case control design. The population of this study was 218 laboring mother in Muhammad Sani Karimun Hospital dated from January to March 2018 with a total sample of 60 respondents. The result shows 37 respondents (61.7%) aged <20 years or>35 years experienced preeclampsia, 56 respondents (93.3%) had single pregnancy, the other 57 respondents (95%) did not experience diabetes, and 31 respondents (51 7%) were parity mothers with small preeclampsia. Form the findings, it is concluded that age and parity are associated with the incidence of preeclampsia, while multiple pregnancies and diabetes are not associated with the incidence of preeclampsia. Finally, it is suggested for future researchers to use other research method such as qualitative and to add more variables such as hydatidiform mole or pregnancy distance in their future research.

Abstract

The Kundur Barat Health Centre apparently was noticed due to its high anemia incidence rate in 2017 which happened to 29.1% pregant women, this number is the second highest rate of anemia in Karimun occurred on mothers with hemoglobin (Hb) level of 9 g/dl at their first visit. The study aims to determine the impact of green spinach (Amaranthus sp) consumption on the average escalation of Hb levels on pregnant mothers with light anemia syndrome at Kundur Barat Health Centre of Karimun conducted from March to July 2018. Anemia in pregnancy happens as a condition of the mothers with hemoglobin below 11g/dl. The most common cause of anemia in pregnancy is iron deficiency which possibly triggers pregnant women to get a miscarriage, premature birth, bleeding before and during childbirth, and in severe anemia, it can cause maternal and infant death. One alternative to meet iron requirements is to routinely consume food with high iron (Fe), for instance spinach. This research is a quantitative research with quasy experiment of one group pretest and posttest research design to 34 respondents. The result shows the pretest mean score = 9.65 and posttest mean score = 12.48. On the other hand, the Paired-Sample T-Test confirms a significant difference on before and after consumption of green spinach (Amaranthus sp) of mean score = 2.83 with p value <0.0000 (p > 0.05).  Lastly, it is hoped that pregnant women to consume green spinach (Amarantus sp) as an alternative to increase their Hb levels.

Abstract

Antepartum hemorrhage is excessive blood loss on the birth canal that occurs at up to 22 weeks of gestational age which generally originates from placental abnormalities. Some factors are considered crucial due to this incidence are placenta previa, placenta abruption and other undefined triggers. Based on the record of the registered mothers at Puskesmas Tanjungbatu, antepartum hemorrhage cases happened to 39 mothers in 2017. The purpose of this study is to determine the correlation between the antepartum mothers’ age and parity with the incidence of antepartum hemorrhage. The research was designed as an analytical survey research using case control approach conducted at Puskesmas Tanjungbatu in May 2018. The population of this study was 547 women and 78 of them were selected as the sample through simple Random Sampling with a check list sheet. The chi-square analysis was further utilized to analyze the data. The result reveals 39 respondents (50%) experience the antepartum hemorrhage, 52 of them (66.7%) are at the age of low risk hemorrhage, and 46 respondents (59%) are parity women with no risk of hemorrhage. Furthermore, Chi-square test obtains p value of 0.008 for the mother’s age and for the mother’s parity p value of 0.038 (p <0.05). In conclusion, there is a significant correlation between pregnant mothers’ age and parity with the incidence of antepartum hemorrhage particularly at the working area of Puskesmas Tanjungbatu. Finally, it is expected that the societies to be able to know the factors that potentially cause the antepartum bleeding as a way to prevent it.
