Abstract

The 79.93% growth of the urban population and the decline of agricultural land in Indonesia demand efficient, sustainable agricultural solutions. Aquaponics systems traditionally require intensive manual monitoring of environmental parameters such as pH, temperature, and nutrient levels, which is impractical for time-constrained urban farming. Conventional approaches face several constraints, including delayed detection of critical parameter changes, the risk of human error in manual sensor readings, inconsistent maintenance schedules, and the mobility limitations of users who must always be physically present on-site. This research aims to design and implement an integrated Internet of Things (IoT)-based aquaponics system with an Android mobile application as a solution to overcome these limitations through real-time remote monitoring and control. The Extreme Programming (XP) method was used to support rapid iteration and active user involvement in system development. The system was built using pH, temperature, nutrient, and water level sensors, along with an automatic fish feeder, connected to an Arduino Mega and ESP32. Data is transmitted to Firebase and displayed via a Kotlin-based Android application. Black-box testing confirmed the system's 100% validity for all functions (login, real-time monitoring, actuator control, and history). Sensor accuracy testing showed success rates between 94.40% and 99.54%, proving the system operates stably and accurately for remote monitoring, making it an innovative, digitally-managed aquaponics solution that successfully addresses all limitations of conventional systems

Abstract

This research presents a hybrid Lexicon–Harris Hawks Optimization (HHO) mathematical model designed to improve sentiment analysis performance on Shopee product reviews. The rapid growth of e-commerce platforms has resulted in a large volume of user-generated content, making accurate sentiment classification essential for understanding customer opinions. Traditional lexicon-based methods are simple and interpretable but often limited by static sentiment scores that fail to capture contextual nuances in real-world review data. To overcome these limitations, this study integrates a lexicon-based scoring approach with HHO to dynamically optimize sentiment weights and enhance classification accuracy. The proposed method involves four main stages: data preprocessing, baseline lexicon-based sentiment scoring, lexicon weight optimization using HHO, and final sentiment classification. HHO is employed to search for optimal lexicon weight configurations through exploration and exploitation mechanisms modeled after the cooperative hunting behavior of Harris hawks. The optimized weights are then applied to recalculate sentiment scores and classify reviews into positive, negative, or neutral categories. Performance is evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. Experimental results show that the hybrid model significantly outperforms the baseline lexicon method, achieving near-perfect classification performance. The confusion matrix reveals extremely low misclassification rates, while evaluation metrics exceed 90% across all categories. The convergence curve further demonstrates stable and efficient optimization behavior. Analysis of sentiment score outputs indicates improved sensitivity for both positive and negative expressions, as well as more accurate representation of reviewer intent.

Abstract

The development of information technology has become a crucial element in enhancing governance efficiency and improving public service quality, particularly within the Palembang City Food Security and Agriculture Office (DKPP), which plays a strategic role in ensuring regional food stability. However, evaluation results indicate that the utilization of information systems within DKPP remains suboptimal, especially in integrating food data, digitizing operational processes, and supporting data-driven decision-making. This study aims to formulate a strategic Information Systems and Information Technology (IS/IT) plan aligned with organizational needs using the Ward and Peppard framework. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The assessment of internal conditions was carried out using the Value Chain model, while external factors were examined through PESTEL analysis. The findings were then synthesized using SWOT analysis and Critical Success Factor (CSF) identification to determine strategic priorities. The study recommends the development of an integrated Food and Agriculture Information System as the core platform to unify food price data, food balance sheets, smart farming initiatives, food distribution processes, and food safety monitoring. Furthermore, a future application portfolio was formulated using the McFarlan Strategic Grid, accompanied by a five-year implementation roadmap to guide progressive IS/IT development. The resulting strategic plan is expected to strengthen DKPP’s digital ecosystem, improve operational efficiency, and support more accurate and responsive decision-making in addressing regional food security challenges.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of Information and Communication Technology has encouraged government institutions to implement Information Systems/Information Technology (IS/IT) that align with organizational objectives. Nevertheless, the current IS/IT utilization at the National Unity and Politics Agency (Kesbangpol) of South Sumatra Province remains constrained by system–business process misalignment, limited cross-departmental data integration, and the absence of a coherent IS/IT strategic plan. This study aims to formulate a comprehensive IS/IT strategic plan to guide the medium- and long-term development of Kesbangpol’s public services. The Ward and Peppard methodology was employed within a descriptive qualitative case-study design. Data were collected through field observations, reviews of the 2024–2028 Strategic Plan and standard operating procedures, interviews, and relevant literature. Internal business environment analysis used the Value Chain framework to identify organizational strengths and weaknesses, while external analysis applied PESTEL to map strategic opportunities and threats. These findings were synthesized through SWOT to derive SO, WO, ST, and WT strategic alternatives, which were subsequently translated into Critical Success Factors as prerequisites for effective implementation. Application development priorities were determined using the McFarlan Strategic Grid. The study recommends a prioritized IS/IT portfolio, including an Integrated Kesbangpol Information System, an Integrated and Verified Civil Society Organization Database, an Early Warning System for conflict and radicalism, a Digital Political Education Platform, and an internal Knowledge Management System. This strategic design is expected to enhance coordination effectiveness, improve data-driven service quality, and strengthen regional socio-political resilience in a sustainable manner

Abstract

The utilization of Information Systems and Information Technology (IS/IT) is a strategic necessity for BP3MI South Sumatra to enhance the effectiveness of placement and protection services for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI). However, the integration of existing systems such as SIDABIT, TNDE, E-KIN, SPBW, and SISKO remains suboptimal, several processes are still performed manually, and no strategic IS/IT planning document is available as a foundation for long-term development. These conditions highlight the urgency for BP3MI to establish a structured strategic direction for IS/IT utilization that aligns with service needs. This study employs the Ward and Peppard methodology through Value Chain, PEST, SWOT, and Critical Success Factors analyses to identify the current organizational condition and formulate the required strategies. The study produces several key outputs, including a strategic IS/IT planning model consisting of Information System strategy, Information Technology strategy, and IS/IT management strategy, as well as a portfolio of prioritized applications such as SIDABIT Enhanced, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) for PMI, an IoT-based PMI Monitoring System, and an AI/Blockchain-based Document Verification System. It also provides an application contribution mapping using the McFarlan Strategic Grid and a five-year IS/IT development roadmap to guide phased implementation. The analysis further shows that BP3MI possesses strengths in service infrastructure and available central systems but still faces weaknesses such as limited system integration and human resource constraints, along with external threats including human trafficking, overcharging practices, regulatory changes, and data security risks. This study has limitations related to the dominance of qualitative data, restricted access to some technical information, and the absence of system testing, thereby requiring further research to validate implementation effectiveness.

Abstract

XYZ is a cafe and restaurant engaged in the culinary field and currently often offers bundling packages to its customers. However, from the interview results it is clear that the bundling packages currently offered are not sufficient to increase sales. For this reason, it is necessary to analyze customer purchasing patterns with the Apriori algorithm to help increase sales at XYZ Cafe and Restaurant. The process of implementing the Apriori algorithm is carried out using the CRISP-DM method which consists of six stages, namely business understanding, data understanding, data preparation, modeling, evaluation, and dissemination. This algorithm is used to generate association rules that can be used as a basis for designing promotional strategies, preparing bundling packages and menu placement. Based on the results of the analysis conducted using Google Colab, the combination of items with the highest confidence and lift values was found, namely between Pekcamkee Chicken ½ Tail and Hainam Rice with a confidence of 57.14% and a lift of 17.44. The results were then visualized in the form of a dashboard built using the PHP programming language with a MySQL database to make it easier for users to understand. It can be concluded that the application of data mining can help Cafe and Restaurant XYZ find relevant customer purchasing patterns so that it can support data-based decision making

Abstract

Data mining is a process of identifying data that is valid and has the potential to be useful to the person who did it. One of the purposes of data mining is to study previously existing data that composes certain patterns and is used to make predictions. Machine learning works by utilizing data and algorithms to create models with patterns from the data set. There are many algorithms that can be used, such as C4.5, K-Means, Support Vector Machine (SVM), K-Nearest Neighbor (K-NN), Naïve Bayes, and others. Since there are many algorithms in data mining, each has its own advantages and disadvantages. This research will focus on the comparison between the Support Vector Machine algorithm and the K-Nearest Neighbor algorithm in terms of accuracy, precision and processing time.
