Abstract

Learning Social Sciences (Social Sciences) at the elementary school level play an important role in helping students develop initial understanding of the surrounding social, cultural, and geographical environment. In improving the quality of social studies learning in class one, many educators adopt an approach that utilizes the environment as a learning resource. This approach is expected to provide a more realistic and in -depth learning experience because students are directly involved in the reality of their environment. Therefore, this approach not only increases understanding but also encourages students to develop observation, analysis, and problem solving skills. However, the emergence of an independent curriculum that emphasizes situational learning and local wisdom requires critical evaluation of the effectiveness of this approach in a new context. The research method uses qualitative research which is based on the analysis of the problem which is then described through the idea of researchers.

Abstract

Two-way communication, involving the processes of listening and responding, plays a crucial role in social interaction and education, particularly for early childhood. At the age of 4, children's communication abilities begin to develop more actively and complexly, affecting their language, emotional, and cognitive development. Effective communication from parents and educators, especially through active listening and appropriate responses, helps children develop language skills and strong emotional attachment. By giving full attention when children speak and responding empathetically, adults can build the child's confidence and motivation to learn. Furthermore, good two-way communication contributes to the child's social development, enhancing their ability to interact with others and fostering critical thinking. Optimal communication strategies, such as active listening, open-ended questions, and positive reinforcement, have proven effective in stimulating the social and cognitive development of young children.

Abstract

This study explores the relationship between healthy eating patterns and their impact on the PGMI ( Pendidikan Guru Madrasah Ibtidaiyah) program at Universitas Islam Negeri Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau. The research employs a qualitative approach through in depth interviews to gain a comprehensive understanding of student’s eating habits and their effects on academic performance. Data were collected over three weeks, focusing on student’s experiences and perceptions regarding nutrition. The findings reveal that many students prioritize cost over nutritional value, often opting for fast food and processed meals, which negatively affects their physical and mental health. Additionally, the study highlights the influence of social and cultural environments on student’s dietary choices, indicating that peer behavior significantly impacts eating habits. Results show that students who maintain a balance diet and regular meal times report improved concentration and cognitive function. The study concludes that promoting healthy eating environments on campus is essential for enhancing students’ awareness and practices regarding nutrition, ultimately contributing to better academic performance. Recommendation for educational institutions to implement programs supporting students’ health and well-being are also discussed.
