Bilingual dedicated to research on education, teaching and linguistic of English as a second of foreign language. It presents information and ideas on theories, research, methods and materials related to language learning and teaching. The journal welcomes submissions on course design, teaching materials, teacher training, teaching methods, language assessment, bilingual education, as well as from the fields of sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, and other related areas. The journal welcomes contributions that have in mind the common professional concerns of both the practitioner and the researcher, providing a bridge between theory and practice.

<![CDATA[The objective of the research is to know the influence of optimizing of Contextual Teaching and Learning in student reading improvement. This research is quantitative research using experimental method. Subjects of this research are 42 students that are divided into two classes, namely control class (21) and experiment class (21). The researcher used cluster random sampling technique to determine the sample. The researcher collected the data using test and observation. Furthermore, the data was analyzed by using descriptive statistical analysis technique and the hypothesis used t-test. Hypothesis test shows that contextual teaching and learning is more effective to improve students’ reading comprehension. This can be seen from the results of test score, it shows that the experimental class which was given treatment using contextual teaching and learning got higher score than control class without contextual teaching and learning. It was obtained that rxy is 0.456 and then rxy is consulted to the critical value for r table of Product Moment to examine whether rxy value is significant or not. The value of r table with N = 21 and the 5% significant level is 0.312. Therefore, it can be concluded that rxy is greater than r table in the other words, 0.456 is greater than 0.312. The result of this study is expected to be information and inputs for the institution, teachers, students and all of the circles to improve students’ achievement.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this study is to describe the effectiveness of applying the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning model in improving students' English learning outcomes. This study used narrative literature review method. Thus, the data in this study were collected from eight research journals applied CTL learning model in improving English learning outcomes, in general, and learning outcomes in listening, speaking, and writing materials, in particular. The eight research journals were published research. The results of the study showed that the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning model was effective in improving student learning outcomes in learning English. Therefore, this learning model can be an alternative choice for improving student learning outcomes in English learning classroom. However, success in using CTL is very dependent on the material chosen and the person/teacher who uses it in the classroom. So, the teacher needs to understand well the teaching learning model before it is applied in the classroom.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this study is to find out the using of Initiation Response Feedback (IRF) Pattern on Students Interaction In Speaking Skills. The writer carried out in class VIII-7 of the SMP Negeri 5 Pematang Siantar. This researcher used the qualitative approach with ethnography by using PURPOSIVE sampling technique for selecting 27 students from class VIII-7 as the data . The data were collected by observation and video recording. The result of study is initiation because initiation is the main role who acted as the initiator of a topic or conversation in order to get feedback and response. The students are already able to find sufficient initiative topics when they want to open a conversation, because the initiative isn’t complicated when giving feedback and responses. Initiative is the same as basic greeting which does not require complicated vocabulary to follow topics such as feedback and respond. Simple initiation can be easily understood by students because the sentence is not complicated, without having to strengthen the topic, because initiation acts as the way of opening. so cause the aspect of initiation is higher than the other aspects]]>

<![CDATA[This research is to describe the learning method used by teacher in Implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka by Mandiri Belajar. This type of research is descriptive qualitative with the research location at SMK Swasta Prama Artha. The data collection methods used are observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique is descriptive qualitative analysis, namely data reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusion. The results of the research found that the learning methods used by teachers are integrative learning method with using the four phases: (1) Phase 1: describing, comparing, and investigating patterns (2) Phase 2: Explaining similarities and differences (3) Phase 3: marking an additional step in developing students' ability to process information (4) Phase 4: generalization to form broad relationships. <![CDATA[The aim of this research was to find out the use of comic strip for improving the students’ reading comprehension of seventh grade students at SMP NEGERI 5 PEMATANGSIANTAR. This research was classified as a true-experimental study. It involved 30 students from two groups, Class VII7 (15 students) as control group and Class VII8 (15 students) as the experimental group. The control group was students taught using conventional technique whereas the experimental group was students taught using of comic strip. The data were obtained by using pre-test and post-test. The data of the pre-test and post-test of both groups were analyzed by using inferential statistics (SPSS 24). The result of the research shows that the testing hypothesis of post-test score, it is found that that tcount (.491) >ttable (2.172) at the significance level α =0.05 with the degrees of freedom (df) = 14, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. <![CDATA[The objective of the study is to know whether using instagram caption can improve students writing ability in SMA Swasta Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga Pematang Siantar. This research used quantitative with true experimental method approach. Population of this research was tenth grade with 6 classes which consists of 200 students and the sample of this research was 30 students in one classes. The technique of collecting data was pre-test and post-test. The technique of analyzing data by using SPSS version 26.0. The result of research was Tcount(15,310) > Ttable(1,699) at the significance level α = 0,05 with the degrees of freedom (df) = (30-1=29) for each class so the degrees of freedom is 29. It means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. The Instagram caption can help improve students' writing skills because the results of data analysis show that there are significant . The Instagram application using the caption can be used as a media in improving students' writing skills. After being implemented in tenth grade of SMA Swasta Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga Pematang Siantar.]]>

<![CDATA[The aim of this research is to find out the difficulties faced by the students on reading comprehension in explanation SMA YPK Pematangsiantar academic year 2022/2023. This research qualitative research based on descriptive data by qualitative research based on descriptive data. Based on the data in the previous chapter has showed that students have some difficulties in comprehend the explanation text or even cannot understand what the explanation text is. Difficulty is something that is complicated to understand or to do. It can be seen from students’ mistakes or error in reading or even comprehend a text. <![CDATA[The aim of this research is to analyze the improvement of students’ vocabulary by using team assisted individually (TAI) and cooperative integrated Reading and composition (CIRC) method. The researcher carried out at the eight grade of SMP N 1 Dolok Pardeamean. This research used the quantitative approach with an experimental design by using the one-group design by cluster sampling technique for choosing 30 students and every student would give the pre-test and post-test for data collection. The technique of collecting the data is by using the statistic application called SPSS 21.0 version. Based on the result of the hypothesis testing that the T-counted is greater than T-table (Tcounted = 9,543 > Ttable = 1,699). This means that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted it can be conclude that the TAI and CIRC method is effective for improving students' vocabulary, as evidenced by the rejection of the null hypothesis and acceptance of the alternative hypothesis based on statistical analysis. The conclusion of this research is that the used of the TAI and CIRC is effective because it involves collaborative reading, discussion, and writing activities that help learners engage with and internalize new words and concepts]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to explain the effect of the demonstration method on the ability to write procedural texts for grade VII students of SMP Negeri 5 Pematang Siantar. The study used a correlational approach method. The data collection technique in this study is a test in the form of an essay and is divided into 2, namely Pre-test and Post-test. The data processing technique in this study is correlational. The results of this study were obtained from the results of pre-test and post-test data. The results of the pre-test data obtained with the number of 4501 with the lowest value of 65 and the highest value of 82, the average obtained was 72.5. The results of the post-test data obtained with the number of 4903 with the lowest value of 70 and the highest value of 90, the average obtained was 79.08. The result value using the correlational formula is 0.71. The final data results of testing the t-test hypothesis were obtained tcount 0.36 = at a significant level a = 0.05 and degrees of freedom (dk) = n – 2 or 62 – 2 = 60 obtained ttable = 2.00 so tcount is greater than ttable (tcount 1.671 ttable = 2.00) tcount Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected]]>

<![CDATA[The aim of this research was to find out the influence of the ability in mastering dialogue on students speaking comprehension at SMP Negeri 5 Pematang Siantar in the academic year of 2022/2023. This research was classified as a true-experimental study. It involved 64 students from two class, as the experimental class 32 students and as the control class 32 students. The experimental and control class was students taught using essay test form story Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih. The data were obtained by using pre-test and post-test. The data of the pre-test and post-test of both groups were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistic. (SPSS 26.0). The result of the research shows that the testing hypothesis of post-test score is 86,56, shows that tcount (0,970) > ttable (2,188) at the significance level a = 0.05 and degrees of freedom (df) = 11. H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. So, it means that the influence of the ability in mastering dialogue is significant on students speaking comprehension at SMP Negeri 5 Pematang Siantar]]>
