Abstract

This research is focused in learning reading by using Neurological Impress Method (NIM) at SMP Swasta Taman Asuhan Pematangsiantar in the academic year 2019/2020. This study use pre-test, treatment, and post-test. By this research, it is hopes that it can be useful to improve reading ability with using Neurological Impress Method (NIM). The writer took 32 students in VIII-1 SMP Swasta Taman Asuhan Pematangsiantar as the sample of the research. The data were obtained by using pre-test and post-test, the pre-test was given of the students in VIII-1 before the treatment and the post-test was given after the treatment. To analyze the data and answer the problem, the writer used the theory from Arikunto Suharsimi. The data collection instrument is a multiple choice consisting of 10 items, and how to analyze it by following the correct answer based on the text and form each question the value 1. This research is focused on learning to read by using the Neurological Impress Method (NIM) at SMP Swasta Taman Asuhan Pematangsiantar in 2019/2020. This research uses pre-test, treatment, and post-test. With this research, it is expected to be useful to improve reading skills by using the Neurological Impress Method (NIM). The writer took 32 students in VIII-1 SMP Swasta Taman Asuhan as a research sample. Data were obtained using pre-test and post-test, pre-test was given to students in VIII-1 before treatment and post-test was given after treatment. To analyze data and answer problems, the authors use the theory of Arikunto Suharsimi. The data collection instrument was a multiple choice consisting of 10 items, and how to analyze it by following the correct answers based on the text and forming each question with a value of 1. From the results of the pre-test, an increase in students' abilities can be seen from the percentage of 71.87% and increased to 100% in the pot test, the mean score of the pre-test was 5.75 and increased to 8.75 in the post-test, standard deviation pre-test and post-test 1.75. From the results of data analysis the writer found that the facts using the Neurological Impress Method (NIM) students were better than before using the Neurological Impress Method (NIM), the results of the pre-test and post-test were significant influences in the use of the Neurological Impress Method (NIM) in the ability reading students in narrative text

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out the implementation of Wholesome Scattering Game in improving the students’ ability in writing descriptive text. The population of this research was all of the eighth grade students of SMP N 3 Pematangsiantar, which consisted 312 students as the population and 31 as the sample. This research was conducted by Classroom Action Research with two cycles. The finding of this research is the researcher got good result from activities of teaching descriptive text using Wholesome Scattering Game technique. The quantitative data was taken from the tests, which were pre-test and post-test in first cycle and post-test II in second cycle. The improvement is the mean of the pre-test is 57,61 in first cycle. But it increase to be 74,19 in the post-test. And researcher found that the mean score of students increased up to be 80.67 in post-test II in second cycle. Difference calculation of the mean in cycle I is 16.58; and the standard deviation is 5.2. Beside that the standard error for the mean difference is 0.95. And researcher found that the t-test of this research was 17.45, with the effect size of the test was 3.18. From the explanation previous shows that by applying Wholesome Scattering Game technique can improve their writing ability. The difference calculation in the second cycle (post-test I and post-test II), the mean was 6.48, and standard deviation was 2.33. Besides that, the standard error for the mean difference was 0.42, and t-test was 15.42. To improve that the Wholesome Scattering Game was very significant to improve students’ writing skills especially in descriptive text, researcher give the result of the effect size, namely was 2.78. Based on the explanation above, the researcher concludes that wholesome scattering game is effective to be used in teaching writing descriptive text which could interesting and useful to increase students' writing ability and students will not bored and passive in the class because they learn while interact with wholesome scattering game

Abstract

The objective of the research is to analyze the effect of the using Riddle Technique to increase the students’ vocabulary mastery. This research is conducted in SMA Swasta Kartika 1-4 Pematangsiantar. The population of this research is class X at SMA Swasta Kartika Pematangsiantar. In which total class X are 6 classes as many as totally is 228 students. In this research, the researcher uses random sampling. the sample of this research is students of X IS-1at SMA Swasta Kartika 1-4 Pematangsiantar, as many as 38 students and this research was just conducted one class with two cycle. This research method use a quantitative method and was designed in a Classroom Action Research. The focus of this research is intended to answer the problem about teaching vocabulary by using riddle technique to the tenth IS-1 grade students of SMA Swasta Kartika Pematangsiantar is effective or not. In this part, the data is calculated to show the total of score of pre-test and post-test, to show the avarage score of pre-test and post-test, to show the standart deviation and to show the significant difference.From the data analysis above the total score of pre-test is 1911 and the total score of post-test I is 3169. The avarage of post-test I is 83,39. Then the researcher do the post-test II and the total score is 3437. The avarage of the post-test II is 90,45. The value of mean score different is 7,06. The value of t-test is 9,29, the standart deviation is 8 and the significant difference is 0,9.Based on the result of the data analysis, it was obtained that there is difference of post-test I and post-test II namely : the mean score different is 7,06, t-test is 9,29, the standart deviation is 8 and the significant difference is 0,9. It means that the use of riddles technique is effective for teaching vocabulary to the tenth grade IS-1 SMA Swasta Kartika Pematangsiantar. From the result of the research can be conclude that riddle technique can give effect to increase students’ vocabulary mastery in describing people

Abstract

The research focused on The Improving of Peer Fedback Technique on Students’ Writing Descriptive Text Ability Of Grade VII SMP NEGERI 1 SIDAMANIK. The problem of the research was : How is The Improving of Peer Fedback Technique on Students’ Writing Descriptive Text Ability Of Grade VII SMP NEGERI 1 SIDAMANIK academic year 2019/2020. Some theories were used the explain the research : they were : Arikunto, Suharsimi (2002), Brown, H.D (2001), Ferris, L. (1995), Harmer, J. (2004), Liu, J. and Hansen, J. (2002), Paulus, T. M. (1999), Wadiman, Artono and His friend. (2008). The research design was quantitative method . The population was 341 students and the sample was taken by Arikunto 2006:134 at class VII/a with 34 students. The instrument was essay test. The data analysis started from scoring composition, calculating the validity and reability, finding variants and mean difference, calculating standart deviation difference deviation.Based on the data analysis, it was found that the treatment of peer feedback technique, students’ prior knowledge in writing descriptive text was low since the pre-test data was 1689 and the mean was 49,67 and after the treatment, it had been improved since the post-test data was 2620 and the mean was 77,11. After analyzing the data, it was concluded that the use of peer feedback technique gives significant contribution in improving students’ competence in writing descriptive text at grade VII SMP NEGERI 1 SIDAMANIK in academic year 2019/2020. So, every English teacher should use peer feedback technique in teaching writing descriptive text because it had been proved that it gave significant contribution in improving students’ competence in wrting descriptive text and each teacher should choose appropriate method firstly before teaching

Abstract

Writing is the difficult skill to master that is why exercise regularly is needed. The objective of this study is to figure out the improvement on students to write descriptive through collaborative writing technique. This experimental research was carried out in SMP Negeri 8 Pematangsiantar in the academic year of 2019/2020. The research design of this study is classroom action research with quantitative approach. The population of this study is all students grade eight at junior high school, they are 296 students were divided into ten classes. And as a sample of this study consist of 25% from the population were VIII-4 as the experimental group and VIII-7 as the control group. Each group consists of 32 students. The experimental group was treated by using Collaborative Writing Technique, while the control group was treated by using Direct Instruction. The finding of this research are the score pre-test in control group are 1376 where the mean is 43 and in experimental group 1529 where the mean is 47.78. The mean score of different in control group is 23.21. and the t-test is 5.10. The standard deviation of the data in control group is 11.70 and the effect size in teaching writing descriptive text in control group is 1.98. It means that the students ability is low. The students’ score post-test in control group are 2119 where the mean is 66.21 and in experimental group are 2409 where the mean is 75.28. The mean score of different in experimental group is 27.5 and t-test for experimental group is 5.27. The standard deviation of the data in experimental group is 13.29 and the effect size in experimental group is 2.35. It means that the students ability is high.The data analysis shows the following findings: (1) Collaborative Writing Technique is more effective than Direct Instruction in teaching writing; (2) students with high creativity have better writing ability than those having low creativity; (3) there is an interaction between teaching techniques and creativity in teaching writing.

Abstract

Buku Bahasa Inggris yang digunakan siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) sangat bervariasi dan Kostruksi Noun Phrase ditemukan hampir di semua buku tersebut. Ada tiga jenis buku menjadi bahan penelitian ini denganjudul :“ Look Ahead” terbitan Erlangga,“ The Bridge English Competence ” terbitan Yudhistira, dan“ English for a Better Life ” terbitan Pakar Raya, yang ketiganya dipakai dikelas satu. Teks Recount dalam ketiga buku ini menggunakan Noun Phrase, Pola Konstruksi Noun Phrase yang ada adalah: Pre- Modifier + Head ; Head + Post- Modifier, and Pre- Modifier + Head + Post- Modifier. Konstruksi Noun Phrase yang paling dominan dalam tiga buku tersebut adalah :Pre- Modifier + Head. Jumlah Konstruksi Noun Phrase dan Pola Noun Phrase dalam ketiga buku di atas adalah berbeda

This experimental study aimed to find out the improving of Context Clues Strategy on Reading Descriptive Text Comprehension. This research was used one group pre-test and post-test design. The reason for conducted this research because students’ tend to used dictionary when they read English text in order to find the meaning of difficult word. However, they may not use dictionary or somes stuff then can help them to understand English text in joining examination. This condition makes students’ difficult to comprehend the English text because they faced different context. So, students should know about reading strategy to increase the reading comprehension without using dictionary or another instrument. One of the appropriate reading strategies to increase the students’ reading comprehension descriptive text ability is context clues. The sample of this research was the seven grade students’ especially class VII/D at SMP NEGERI 1 SIDAMANIK. The participants were 34 students. The step of research procedure are conducting pre-test, treatment, post-test and data analysis. The data analysis by using table categories. The data analysis showed there is significant improving of using Context Clues Strategy on reading descriptive text comprehension. The finding also proved that in the pre-test students mean score was only 39.11 and post-test score was improved to 71.11 and standard deviation of pre-test score was only 6.78 and post-test score was 12.08

Abstract

Learning a language is influenced by a variety of factors. Learning English is important to children that will help them in achieving their full potential in the future. If they have the right techniques, they can learn English quickly and effectively. Applying a good technique is important that they have to learn English which is by practicing and using the language fluently. Learning must not be stressful for the children. The process should be simulating with a interesting technique by the teacher. So, their studies should make reading, listening, and speaking in English practice naturally. As a confidence to develops, the children can learn more and speak English improve their English. This paper will discusses about the way to teach the young learners in Pematang Siantar. These are purposed for children to be able to learn English effectively with the fun situation and variety program that children need in practicing a language. At the last, this paper discuss about how to guarantee the children learning English by using a simple techniques that can absolutely make the teachers’ responsibility in teaching more fun and satisfying in the result of student, and the teaching process will be expected that the teachers will have an idea to be the most inspiring teachers that possibly can applying in teaching and learning process

Abstract

This research was aimed at improving the reading narrative text comprehension of the grade seven student of SMP YP.KeluargaPematangsiantar through the use of buzz group technique.This research is action research conducted in SMP YP.Keluarga. The subjects of the study were 26 students of VII-1 as a control class and 26 students as a experimental class of SMP YP.Keluarga in the 2019/2020 academic year. The data of this research were quantitative as the supporting data. The result in this research are teaching by using buzz groups technique can effectively improve students’ reading comprehension. From the observation, the reseacher found that during the action, the students have shown their improvement such as they were able to comprehend the text well, the situation of the teaching and learning process became more enjoyable and interesting, and all of the students were involved in the teaching and learning process. They can share their knowledge and help each other in understanding the lesson material. The students not only learn from the teacher explanation, but they can learn from their friends who also learn the same thing. From the reading narrative text comprehension test, the students’ pre-test in control class mean score was 16.47 , increasing to 6.8 in thepost-test. And the students’ pre-test in experimental class mean score was 6.2, increasing to 8.0 in the post-test. Therefore, it can be concluded that teaching reading by using buzz groups technique can improve the students’ reading narrative text comprehension
