Abstract

In the modern business environment, organizational transformation has become an essential strategy for enhancing efficiency, adaptability, and competitiveness. As companies face rapid technological and market changes, restructuring internal systems and redefining operational paradigms are necessary to maintain strategic alignment. This study examines the organizational transformation from the Directorate of Goods and Services Procurement to the Directorate of Supply Chain Management (PBJ to SCM) as a paradigm shift from an administrative to a strategic function within a corporate context. Using a descriptive qualitative method and a case study approach, the research explores how this transformation was implemented through organizational restructuring, role redefinition, competency development, and the integration of digital supply chain systems. The findings reveal that these initiatives not only improved procurement efficiency but also enhanced cross-divisional collaboration, transparency, and strategic decision-making. Moreover, the transformation contributed to greater responsiveness to Industry 4.0 demands, positioning the company to compete effectively in a dynamic market environment. This study provides practical insights for organizations undertaking similar organizational transformations, emphasizing that successful change management requires strong leadership commitment, continuous capability development, and digital integration as key enablers for sustainable organizational performance.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the importance of cross-cultural learning experiences in strengthening the competencies of prospective primary school teachers in the global era. The purpose of this study was to explore the learning experiences of bilingual students in the Elementary Teacher Education Study (ETE) Programme who participated in off-campus learning programmes in three countries, namely Taiwan, the Philippines, and Thailand. A phenomenological approach was used to understand the meaning of students' learning experiences in different cultural and educational environments. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and analysis of relevant documents, then analysed using the Miles and Huberman model. Five bilingual students took part in this study through in-depth interviews and document analysis. The results showed that off-campus learning experiences had a significant impact on improving students' language skills, cultural adaptation abilities, and pedagogical understanding. Students also revealed that this experience broadened their knowledge of innovative learning methods, improved their cross-cultural communication skills, and strengthened their competencies as prospective educators. These findings have important implications for the development of curricula and educational policies that support cross-cultural learning for Elementary Teacher Education students.

Abstract

This study examines the reconstruction of criminal law provisions governing the protection of victims in trademark infringement cases in Indonesia. The current legal framework, as stipulated in Law No. 20 of 2016 concerning Trademarks and Geographical Indications, still relies on a complaint-based offense (requiring a complaint from the aggrieved party), which limits law enforcement's proactive role and undermines the effectiveness of criminal sanctions. Through a comparative legal approach and a theoretical analysis grounded in legal certainty, proportionality, and restorative justice, this research highlights the need for systemic reform. The proposed reconstruction includes five key elements: (1) reclassifying trademark infringement from a complaint-based offense into a public criminal act, (2) implementing proportional and tiered criminal sanctions, (3) incorporating restitution as a mandatory additional penalty, (4) strengthening institutional capacity and inter-agency coordination, and (5) revising Law No. 20 of 2016 to align with international best practices. A comparative analysis of France, Singapore, and Malaysia demonstrates that integrating restitution and proactive enforcement mechanisms enhances justice for victims and strengthens the deterrent function of criminal law. This reconstruction aims to transform Indonesia’s trademark protection system into one that is more effective, fair, and adaptive to the challenges of global and digital trade ensuring both punitive and restorative justice for victims of trademark infringement in Indonesia.

Abstract

The maritime industry is undergoing a rapid digital transformation that is reshaping traditional operations and human resource management. PT MCS Internasional, a large-scale maritime service provider managing crew operations for multiple types of vessels and companies, faces challenges in data management, efficiency, and compliance monitoring. The complexity of handling numerous crew members and diverse client requirements demands a structured digital solution. This research aims to examine the necessity and urgency of developing a Crewing Management System (CMS) tailored to PT MCS Internasional’s operational framework. Using a qualitative descriptive method through interviews, observation, and document analysis, the study finds that the manual and semi-digital processes currently in use result in data duplication, low accuracy, and slow decision-making. Customized CMS is essential to streamline operations, integrate multiple data sources, ensure regulatory compliance, and improve competitiveness. The paper concludes that implementing a comprehensive CMS will serve as a strategic move to enhance efficiency, reliability, and scalability in managing maritime human resources.

Abstract

Rapid urban population growth and poor spatial planning often lead to the formation of informal settlements, which are vulnerable to environmental degradation and contribute to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This study estimates CO? emissions from the solid waste, wastewater, and clean water sectors in the slums of Depok City. Data was collected through questionnaires from 137 households and laboratory analysis of wastewater, with calculations based on specific emission factors for each sector. Total annual emissions reached 76.93 tons of CO?, with an average of 0.17 tons per person per year. Solid waste accounts for the largest portion (72.63%), followed by wastewater (21.08%). These findings emphasize the need for improvements in waste and wastewater management to support climate change mitigation efforts in urban informal settlements.

Abstract

Paranasal sinus cysts are benign lesions that are often asymptomatic. In most cases, they are found in the maxillary sinus. Further radiological examinations, such as a head CT scan, are required. The diagnosis of angiolipoma is made through histopathological analysis. The purpose of this article is to establish the diagnosis and management of maxillary sinus cysts and angiolipoma. A 35-year-old male patient presented to the ENT clinic of Wangaya Regional General Hospital complaining of nasal congestion and headache. Based on anamnesis, physical examination, and supporting investigations in the form of a head CT scan, the patient was diagnosed with a maxillary sinus cyst and angiolipoma. The treatment chosen was surgery in the form of Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) and Luc-Caldwell (LCW) procedures. After surgery, the complaints of nasal congestion and headache were reduced. Maxillary sinus cyst and angiolipoma can be challenging to diagnose because of their nonspecific clinical presentations. Initial diagnostic testing may include computed tomography (CT), and definitive diagnosis is made through histopathology. Treatment options include FESS and LCW.

Abstract

The port is one of the freight transportation activities of business locations through the surrounding water area. The approach to port business characteristics can be approached with maritime logistics. Maritime logistics presents an integrated concept of planning, implementing, and managing the movement of goods and information in sea transportation. The three key players that make up the maritime logistics system at a port are shipping, port/terminal operations, and freight forwarding. This article examines several major ports: Shanghai, Singapore, Busan, and Rotterdam, for comparison based on the characteristics of the port business side. Comparative studies are carried out with a benchmarking process against reference ports.

Abstract

We performed the comparison of characteristics and values under the curve, including Sepsis Patient Evaluation Emergency Department Score (SPEEDS), Mortality in Emergency Department Sepsis (MEDS), Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA), Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II (APACHE II), and Simplified Acute Physiology Score (SAPS II). We searched PubMed, Science direct, ProQuest, and EBSCO for identify full-text English-language papers published between 2012-2022. We discovered that each of the five-scoring lead to mortality forecasts in sepsis patients. MEDS predicted mortality in sepsis patients better than SAPS II after 28 days but the SPEEDS was more accurate than MEDS. The SOFA score predicts mortality better than the APACHE II. APACHE II has lesser validity than SAPS II. The AUC SOFA scores have greater in diagnosing sepsis patients’ mortality than other scores. However, they are overstated, inefficient, and non-cost-effective, making SOFA scoring unfavourable in enhancing healthcare quality.

Abstract

To satisfy society’s demands for effective and efficient public services, the Indonesian government through the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform encourages the development of innovation in the public sector by organizing Public Service Innovation Competition (KIPP, Kompetisi Inovasi Pelayanan Publik). In 2022, 3.487 innovations were registered to participate in the competition and 99 of the best innovations were selected from various public agencies. The content analysis results show that the types of innovation that won KIPP were dominated by process innovation. Meanwhile the goal of innovation is mostly to increase people’s satisfaction. Most of the innovations cannot be assessed for their outcome because the results of innovation remain at the output level. Half of the KIPP winning innovations have implemented innovation networks by collaboration with other stakeholders, while only 31.31% of innovations have been replicated. Public service innovation is still focused on process innovation and product innovation. In fact, public issues are not only on how individual people may receive services swiftly as possible but also how to empower people to solve more complex social issues. Governments often experience limited resources to address these problems. For this reason, collaboration is needed with non-government actors such as academics, society and the private sector in a network that is able to create innovative solutions. In addition, the government needs to increase the dissemination of worthy replicable innovations by innovation organizers in other regions. With efforts through the establishment of innovation networks and accelerated replication, public service innovations will not only reach short-term impact outcomes but long-term impact, sustainable and effective outcomes in solving public issues.
