Abstract

Cooperatives represent a vital institutional mechanism for advancing inclusive and sustainable economic development, particularly in rural contexts where financial access and managerial capacity remain limited, yet weak governance systems, inadequate human resources, and the absence of standardized operational frameworks continue to constrain their performance in Indonesia. This study evaluates the effectiveness of a community-based governance capacity-building program implemented at Koperasi Merah Putih, Ciambar Village, Sukabumi, which was designed to strengthen good cooperative governance while supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 8 on decent work and economic growth. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study combined pre-test and post-test assessments with structured perception surveys administered to cooperative managers, supervisors, and members, and the data were analyzed through descriptive statistics and paired sample t-tests. The findings demonstrate a statistically significant improvement in governance knowledge, with mean scores increasing from 1.69 to 4.23 (p < 0.001), alongside a very high level of participant satisfaction (mean score = 4.62), particularly in terms of training relevance, facilitator competence, and practical applicability. These results indicate that targeted governance interventions can enhance institutional transparency, accountability, and participation, thereby strengthen cooperative sustainability and reinforcing their role as engines of community-based economic growth

Abstract

Micro and small enterprises (MSEs play a critical role in Indonesia’s economic resilience, yet they remain highly vulnerable to operational, financial, and market uncertainties due to limited risk management capabilities. This study reports the results of a community service–based training program conducted at the Cordova Entrepreneurship School, Tangerang, which aimed to strengthen participants’ capacity to identify, analyze, and mitigate business risks through preventive strategies and the Bow Tie risk management method. The program involved ten student participants (five male and five female) and employed a pretest–posttest design using structured questionnaires administered via Google Forms. The training materials covered fundamental concepts of uncertainty, types of business risks, the risk management process, preventive measures, and practical application of the Bow Tie method. Quantitative analysis of pre-test and post-test scores indicates a consistent improvement in participants’ understanding of risk management concepts, reflecting the effectiveness of experiential and structured risk-based learning. The findings align with prior studies emphasize the positive relationship between enterprise risk management practices and microbusiness performance, adaptability, and sustainability. Beyond individual learning outcomes, the program contributed to institutional objectives by integrating community engagement with teaching and student development under the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) framework. Overall, this study demonstrates that targeted, context-sensitive risk management training can significantly enhance risk awareness and managerial readiness among aspiring micro-entrepreneurs, thereby supporting long-term business resilience and community empowerment

Abstract

This community outreach activity was carried out with the aim of helping residents of Aek Batu Village, Torgamba District, South Labuhanbatu Regency, utilize palm oil (Elaeis guineensis) palm frond waste into innovative handicrafts that have sales value. The product from palm oil (Elaeis guineensis) palm frond waste is a handicraft in the form of a Peacock Replica "Bumer". The population in this study was the community in Aek Batu Village, which numbered 40 people. The community in the village still rarely utilizes palm oil frond waste as a potential local wisdom to be utilized into goods with economical selling prices. The use of palm oil fronds as a basic material for making furniture is one solution to reduce plantation waste while creating products with economic value. This study aims to describe the process and potential of palm oil fronds as furniture materials using qualitative descriptive methods. Data were collected through interviews with craftsmen and field observations, and supported by related literature studies. Research results show that oil palm fronds have good strength and flexibility, and are easily processed into various products such as fruit bowls, handicrafts such as "Bumer" peacock replicas, and other household items. However, challenges include a lack of modern processing techniques and limited market access. With the support of training, technology, and promotion, the use of oil palm fronds can be further developed as an environmentally friendly creative industry with the potential to improve community welfare.

Abstract

Sustainable food security and environmental literacy require contextual and practice-based learning approaches in high school education. This community engagement program introduced a school-based aquaponic learning intervention designed to enhance students’ ecological reasoning and sustainability awareness. The activity was carried out in August 2025 at Islamic High School of MA Swasta Irsyadul Islamiah, Tanjung Medan District, Labuhanbatu Selatan Regency, involving 32 students. The intervention combined structured conceptual sessions, guided technical demonstrations, supervised system construction, and reflective evaluation. Learning outcomes were assessed using pre- and post-intervention instruments complemented by observational documentation. Quantitative analysis indicated a marked improvement in students’ academic performance, with average scores increasing from 58.4 (SD = 12.5) prior to the intervention to 82.7 (SD = 8.9) afterward. Statistical testing using a paired-samples t-test confirmed that this gain was significant (t(31) = 8.76, p < 0.001). Field observations further revealed strengthened collaborative participation and heightened interest in environmentally responsible practices. In addition to cognitive gains, the program produced a permanent instructional facility in the form of an operational aquaponic unit that supports continued experiential learning. The findings provide empirical support for integrating recirculating cultivation systems into biology instruction as a strategy for advancing ecological literacy and applied scientific skills. This initiative offers a transferable framework for schools seeking context-responsive, resource-efficient models to reinforce sustainability-oriented education

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the BIDARI program in strengthening the economic independence of micro, small, and medium enterprises operated by zakat beneficiaries in Riau Province. The program applies an integrated empowerment model combining productive capital assistance, structured mentoring, business legalization support, rebranding, and marketing facilitation. This research employs a community-based approach with descriptive qualitative analysis based on program implementation, mentoring activities, and beneficiary development outcomes. The results indicate that capital assistance becomes more effective when accompanied by continuous supervision and capacity building. Participants show improvements in business management practices, financial organization, product quality, legal compliance, and market access. Support in obtaining business permits and halal certification enhances product credibility, while packaging improvement and digital marketing initiatives increase competitiveness in local markets. Although challenges such as limited digital literacy and uneven business readiness remain, adaptive mentoring strategies help address these constraints. In conclusion, the BIDARI program demonstrates that integrated productive zakat empowerment can promote sustainable business growth and contribute to poverty reduction by transforming beneficiaries into more independent and competitive entrepreneurs.

Abstract

The management of sambal pecel as a traditional food product based on local wisdom in the Delta Sambiresik Permai 3 Housing Complex, Sambiresik Village, Gampengrejo District, Kediri Regency, still faces limitations in terms of flavor variety, production processes, and packaging, resulting in suboptimal added value and product competitiveness. This condition encourages the need for product innovation and flavor diversification accompanied by the application of appropriate technology and continuous assistance. The purpose of this activity is to increase the added value of pecel chili sauce through product innovation and flavor diversification based on local wisdom, as well as to improve the community's skills in a more hygienic and efficient production and packaging process. This community service activity was carried out over one semester through stages of observation, socialization, training, technology application, assistance and evaluation, as well as program sustainability. The results of the activity showed that the community was able to independently apply roasting techniques, develop flavor variations, and carry out modern packaging. In addition, the application of appropriate technology improved production efficiency and product quality consistency. This activity contributed to increasing the competitiveness of pecel sambal as an MSME product and supported the sustainability of local food businesses based on local wisdom.
