Abstract

This paper examines the current trajectory of Indonesian Government in protecting the rights of female labour force. The World Bank data shows that female labour participation rate in Indonesia has been rising form 38% in 2015 to 39.3% in 2020. Women has indeed make an essential contributions to economic development in all developing countries. Their roles vary considerably between and within regions and are changing rapidly in many parts of the world, where economic and social forces are transforming the agricultural sector to industrial sector. However this positive outcome is sometimes does not followed by the equal protection of rights toward female labour in Indonesia. Invariably women are over represented in unpaid, seasonal and part-time work, and the available evidence suggests that women are often paid less than men, for the same work. This study employs qualitative and descriptive methods with comprehensive analysis. It will also apply combination of primary and secondary data that will be collected from every sources particularly government official publication. Using the concept of Gender and Development (GAD), the aims of this research is to analyse the current condition of female labour force participation in Indonesia, and also how the Government attempt to protect the rights of female labour as one of the main actor in Indonesia’s economic development from gender point of view. Our projection shows that the Indonesia Government current policy still was not able to provide protection toward female labour force’s rights despite its rising in participation rate.Key words: Gender, Development, Economics, Indonesia, Female Labour Force

Abstract

This paper discusses about the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on the global civil society. It mainly focuses on how the pandemic is reducing the power of the global civil society in international politics while it is reinforcing the power of the state. Prominent theories of international relations, such as Realism, liberalism and constructivism assert the primacy of state in international politics while giving little importance to global civil society as an actor. However, the advocates of global civil society claim that, currently, global civil society is a much important actor in international politics. They also assert that states are gradually losing power to the global civil society. This paper argues that the pandemic has reversed this trend and shifted the power balance towards the state. Using the realist critic this paper argues that the pandemic has impacted international politics in a way that is reinforcing the primacy of the state and weakening the global civil society. As a result, global civil society is losing their ability to counter the state in world politics and are being forced to comply with the interests of the state.

Abstract

The trade war between the United States and the People's Republic of China has had a significant global economic impact. This war started from a sense of threat from the US under the administration of President Donald Trump against the rise of China which will replace the US position as a position in leading the world. Therefore, President Trump has imposed tariffs on China to suppress the country's economy. However, China did not remain silent and took the same action against the US so that a trade war ensued. This raises the question of how the trade war can occur and how the trade war can have a positive impact on other countries, one of which is ASEAN which is experiencing an economic increase caused by rising foreign investment and the movement of companies from China to avoid tariffs that are high. Worn by Chinese exports to the US. Therefore, this article will analyze how the US took a unilateral decision to impose sanctions on China and how the trade war could be profitable and how the US and China could easily cooperate with ASEAN in the midst of a trade war. Keywords: Trade war, ASEAN, Economic Growth, Trade Partnership, Investment, USA, China, Cooperation.

Abstract

This paper talks about an analysis of Lao's interest in working with China on the High-Speed Railway (HSR) project between Kumning, China, and Viantiane, Lao. Using a method called "foreign policy analysis," this paper looks at four factors that Lao considers when deciding whether or not to work with China. The first is that Lao is close to China and has a similar climate. Second, China's strength in the economy. Third, the stability of China's political system. Fourth, China's population, which has to do with the tourism industry and improving Lao' human resources. The authors of this paper say that the results show that a number of indicators make it possible for Lao to connect to the rest of the world through the HSR project, make more contributions to the region, and become more competitive on both the regional and international levels.
