Abstract

General Background: Fluctuations in raw material orders pose significant challenges for business operators, especially during peak seasons like holidays and the new year, often resulting in shortages or excess inventory. Specific Background: This study focuses on forecasting demand for wallet products from UMKM Pengerajin Dompet Khas Tanggulangin (PDKT) by comparing two forecasting methods: Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and the Multiplicative Holt-Winters method, which is tailored for seasonal data. Knowledge Gap: While existing literature recognizes the effectiveness of various forecasting techniques, there is limited comparative analysis of ANN and Holt-Winters specifically in the context of UMKM wallet production, highlighting the need for empirical validation. Aims: This research aims to identify the most accurate forecasting method to optimize raw material usage and production planning. Results: The findings indicate that the ANN method yields a superior Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 14.249, compared to 93.436 for the Holt-Winters method, establishing its higher predictive accuracy. Novelty: The study contributes to the field by providing a comparative analysis of forecasting methods tailored to the specific context of UMKM, demonstrating the efficacy of ANN over traditional methods. Implications: These results suggest that adopting ANN for demand forecasting can significantly enhance inventory management and production efficiency for PDKT MSMEs, ultimately leading to better resource allocation and reduced operational costs.

Abstract

Objective: Effective employee attendance management is crucial for optimizing operational efficiency in higher education institutions. This study aims to develop a WhatsApp-based attendance system to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and accessibility at Muhammadiyah University of Sidoarjo. Method: A web-based application was designed and integrated with the WhatsApp API, enabling employees to record attendance by sending messages via WhatsApp. The system includes automated data processing features for administrative monitoring. The research follows a system development life cycle (SDLC) approach, incorporating requirements analysis, design, implementation, and evaluation phases. Results: The implementation of the system demonstrated improved attendance efficiency, minimized human error in data recording, and reduced reliance on additional applications. The administrative panel facilitated real-time monitoring, enhancing managerial oversight. Novelty: This study presents an innovative approach by leveraging WhatsApp—a widely used communication platform—as a cost-effective alternative to conventional attendance systems. The integration of WhatsApp API eliminates the need for dedicated mobile applications, reducing maintenance costs and improving user adoption. This solution offers a practical model for universities seeking to modernize attendance management while maintaining ease of use for employees.

Abstract

Objective: The global electrical power generation, transmission, and distribution sector is a critical backbone of modern society, yet occupational noise exposure remains an underestimated risk that can cause permanent, irreversible, but preventable Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL). Method: This manuscript provides a comprehensive review of the effects of high-level noise on workers within electricity organizations worldwide by analyzing primary noise-generating equipment and processes from a materials science perspective, detailing pathophysiological mechanisms of NIHL, and discussing audiological and psychosocial consequences. Result: The review synthesizes global epidemiological data on hearing loss within the sector, highlighting disparities between developed and developing nations, and evaluates current noise control strategies such as the hierarchy of controls, the role of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and emerging materials and technologies for creating quieter electrical infrastructure. Novelty: The conclusion underscores the critical need to integrate hearing conservation programs with material design and operational management, offering a new perspective that connects occupational health with technological innovation in order to safeguard the long-term health of the global electrical workforce.

Abstract

Objective:  Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorods, a cornerstone of one-dimensional semiconductor nanostructures, have attracted profound research interest due to their unique combination of piezoelectricity, wide bandgap, and biocompatibility. While often treated as a wurtzite-structured constant, the lattice parameters (a, b, and c) of ZnO nanorods are not immutable. This review comprehensively examines the intentional engineering of ZnO nanorod lattice constants through various synthesis strategies, including doping with foreign elements, manipulation of growth parameters, and substrate-induced strain. Method: We delve into the fundamental mechanisms—such as ionic radius mismatch, formation of intrinsic point defects, and external stress—that lead to lattice expansion or contraction. Results: The consequential tuning of functional properties, most notably the bandgap via strain-induced piezoelectric effects, is critically analyzed. Furthermore, this review consolidates recent advancements demonstrating how precise lattice control enhances performance in applications ranging from piezotronics and optoelectronics to catalysis and sensing. Novelty: By synthesizing findings from a vast body of literature, this review aims to serve as a foundational guide for researchers seeking to exploit lattice engineering as a powerful tool for tailoring ZnO nanorods for next-generation technologies.

Abstract

Objective:  The aim of this research is to develop group-based classifications that improve the accuracy of intrusion detection. Method: So far, various methods and algorithms have been presented for data mining, and in this research, machine learning, neural network and optimization of weights with the help of genetic algorithm were used. For this purpose, kdd 99 dataset was used for data preprocessing and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) algorithm was evaluated along with SVM and KNN algorithms. SVM and KNN algorithms were implemented using R software and convolutional neural network algorithm in MATLAB. Results: The results show that the use of machine learning and the neural system have acceptable results in intrusion detection. However, the weights optimized by the genetic algorithm show higher accuracy than the case with the original weights. Novelty: Comparing these results with the results of previous studies shows that the speed of convergence is much faster, which is one of the advantages of this algorithm.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to develop a web-based village information system for Pulau Mandangin to improve the dissemination of information and facilitate residents in submitting complaints online, addressing the long-standing challenge of ineffective communication between villagers and local authorities. Method: The system was designed using the CodeIgniter 4 framework due to its lightweight structure and efficiency in web application development. Key features include village profile information, historical background, vision and mission, news updates, official announcements, organizational structure, and an integrated online complaints submission module. System performance was evaluated using black box testing, and user satisfaction was assessed through a Likert-scale survey. Results: Black box testing confirmed that all system functionalities operated correctly and as intended. The user satisfaction survey produced a score of 77.5%, categorized as “agree,” indicating a high level of acceptance and perceived usefulness among residents. Novelty: This research provides a practical digital solution for remote island communities with limited IT adoption, presenting an accessible and community-oriented platform that enhances transparency, communication efficiency, and public service delivery at the village level.
