Abstract

United Nations Fund for Population Activity (UNFPA) became one of the international organizations that is active in giving aid to help social and gender issues such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). The Egypt government itself has made regulations related to the prohibition of FGM that clearly resulted giving the negative impact on women, such as on health sector and women's rights regarding private affairs. The presence of UNFPA and NCW is expected to be able to suppress and reduce the potential growth of FGM cases through the cooperation. With concerns related to gender inequality and misogyny, through this study, this analysis will be using the theory of liberal feminism and the International Organization Theory as the basis regarding to UNFPA – NCW’s efforts in supporting the Egyptian Government’s project to eliminate FGM in Egypt by 2030. This research will use qualitative method including document-based research and interview with Hala Yousry as the professor of rural sociology and as Vice Head of Rural Women Committee at the NCW This research is expected to be able to increase readers' awareness of the impact of FGM and how the international organizations and the country’s government combating the specific issue.   Keywords: FGM, Egypt, Liberal Feminism, International Organization Theory, UNFPA, NCW

Abstract

This study focuses on analyzing virtual interactions that occurred on the Instagram account @tempodotco in response to the terror experienced by Tempo in 2025. Using qualitative methods and a netnographic approach, this study collected and categorized thousands of comments, likes, and re-shared content activities on Instagram reels related to the incident of sending pig heads and dead rats. The analysis of 2,341 comments showed that 89% of them expressed support and solidarity for press freedom, which was mostly expressed through the use of the hashtag #KamiTidakTakut. This study uses the Uses and Gratifications Theory to understand user motivations in interacting, including cognitive, affective, and social integration needs. The identified communication patterns are in accordance with the One-Step Flow Theory model, where messages from mass media are delivered directly to the audience without involving opinion leaders. Although mass media can influence individuals directly, the effects that arise from each individual can vary. These findings highlight the role of social media as a new digital public space that is effective in encouraging political participation, shaping public opinion, and expanding democracy amidst threats to press freedom. The implications of this research are expected to be a guide for media practitioners, academics, and policy makers in formulating adaptive communication strategies, as well as increasing media literacy and digital community participation in fighting for democratic values.Keywords: Virtual interaction, Social media, Terror Tempo 2025, Netnography, Uses and Gratifications, One-Step Flow Theory, Freedom of the press, Political participation, Media literacy, Digital democracy.

Abstract

Abstract Personal branding strategy of Dedi Mulyadi as a humanist political figure on Instagram @dedimulyadi71 This study analyzes how Dedi Mulyadi uses Instagram to build a humanist political image through consistent visual storytelling, cultural symbols, and direct social engagement. Using a qualitative descriptive method with an interpretative approach, data were gathered from Instagram content analysis and in-depth interviews with followers. Findings reveal that Mulyadi’s empathetic and grounded communication style fosters public trust and reshapes perceptions of political leadership. His strategy highlights the power of authentic narratives in digital political branding. This research contributes to political communication studies and offers practical insights for politicians navigating social media platforms. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami strategi komunikasi pemasaran melalui konten viral di media sosial, khususnya pada akun Instagram @nonocorner_. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode observasi langsung terhadap konten yang dipublikasikan secara publik pada rentang waktu Maret hingga Mei 2025. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi viral marketing yang diterapkan oleh Nono Corner melalui akun Instagram @nonocorner_ telah berhasil meningkatkan engagement dan jangkauan konten. Penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa elemen-elemen seperti emosi, nilai informatif, keterkaitan sosial, daya visual, dan kemudahan untuk dibagikan merupakan faktor-faktor kunci yang mendorong viralitas konten. Hasil penelitian ini dapat memberikan manfaat bagi pemahaman tentang strategi komunikasi pemasaran di media sosial dan dapat digunakan sebagai referensi bagi bisnis yang ingin meningkatkan kehadiran online mereka.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi peran ritual sembahyang tradisional dalam membentuk ketenangan jiwa pada penghayat Kepercayaan Budi Luhur di Kecamatan Wonokerto, Kabupaten Pekalongan. Isu utama yang diangkat adalah bagaimana komunitas minoritas ini mampu mencapai ketenangan psikologis di tengah stigma sosial dan keterbatasan pengakuan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memahami bagaimana ketenangan jiwa terbentuk melalui praktik sembahyang yang mereka jalankan. Adapun fokus utamanya adalah menganalisis pelaksanaan sembahyang serta dampaknya secara spiritual dan psikologis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus, melibatkan lima informan yang terdiri dari tokoh dan warga aktif penghayat. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dan observasi partisipatif, kemudian dianalisis dengan model interaktif Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sembahyang, khususnya sujud, berfungsi seperti praktik mindfulness yang berakar pada kearifan lokal, mendorong ketenangan, penerimaan, dan hubungan spiritual. Praktik ini mencerminkan penyatuan nilai sakral dan profan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, serta menjadi sumber kekuatan batin untuk menjalani hidup dengan damai dan bermakna. Abstract

Uzumaki Film adalah sebuah channel YouTube yang menarik perhatian sejak debut nya pada tanggal 2 November 2020. Channel ini berfokus pada konten alur cerita dengan gaya penyampaian yang santai dan mudah dipahami. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis gaya komunikasi yang digunakan channel YouTube Uzumaki Film untuk menarik penonton ke konten "Alur Cerita Anime Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomoni". Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan metode analisis isi. Data dikumpulkan melalui dokumentasi video dan observasi non-partisipatif. Teori gaya komunikasi digunakan dari Stewart L. Tubbs dan Sylvia Moss. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa narator Uzumaki Film menggunakan berbagai gaya komunikasi dalam konten. Seperti Dynamic Style, Equalitarian Style, Structuring Style, Relinquishing Style. Gaya-gaya ini tercermin dalam penggunaan bahasa yang santai, humor, narasi sistematis, dan ilustrasi visual dan efek suara yang mendukung cerita. Gaya komunikasi ini meningkatkan keterlibatan audiens, mempertahankan perhatian, dan menciptakan kedekatan emosional dengan penonton. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Gajahwong School as a manifestation of humanist education in fulfilling the right to education of children from marginalized communities. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. Data collection techniques were conducted through interviews with four informants who are facilitators and student guardians, participant observation of learning activities and social interactions at school, as well as documentation in the form of school archives and visual documentation of educational activities. The results show that Gajahwong School has a significant role in fulfilling the right to education through three main dimensions: first, providing affordable and flexible access to education for children of marginalized groups; second, developing a curriculum that is contextual and relevant to the socio-economic conditions of students; and third, creating a learning environment that is inclusive and free from discrimination. This research concludes that the existence of Gajahwong School contributes to presenting the concept of humanist education for the oppressed such as marginalized communities, as well as becoming an alternative model for the implementation of the right to education.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami bagaimana modal sosial berperan dalam memperkuat solidaritas dan kolaborasi di lingkungan Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa (BEM) KM FISIP UNY. Fokus utama penelitian ini adalah melihat bagaimana unsur kepercayaan (trust), jaringan sosial (networks), dan nilai-nilai bersama (shared values) terbentuk serta dijalankan dalam dinamika organisasi mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif, melalui wawancara mendalam terhadap Ketua dan Wakil Ketua BEM KM FISIP UNY tahun 2025. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modal sosial menjadi kekuatan utama menjaga kekompakkan dan efektivitas organisasi. Kepercayaan dan komunikasi terbuka menjadi dasar bagi terciptanya solidaritas antar anggota, sedangkan jaringan sosial dan nilai bersama memperkuat kolaborasi lintas kebiroan/departemen dan hubungan eksternal dengan pihak fakultas maupun organisasi lain. Meskipun demikian, masih terdapat sejumlah hambatan seperti ego sektoral, keterbatasan waktu, serta kurangnya refleksi dan dokumentasi pengalaman organisasi. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa keberhasilan organisasi mahasiswa tidak hanya bergantung pada struktur formal, tetapi juga pada kemampuan dalam membangun dan memelihara modal sosial sebagai fondasi utama solidaritas dan kolaborasi. Abstract

The relationship between the media and power in Indonesia has undergone a shift in the dominant actors exercising strict control. The Orde Baru and Orde Lama were dominated by the state. After the state weakened following the 1998 Reformation, researchers found that the desired freedom and independence of the press had been fully realized. The relationship between the media and power continues to exist, although it is no longer the state, but rather market or economic interests and media owners. This study examines this relationship pattern from Vincent Mosco's perspective on the political economy of communication. Abstract

Family resilience is crucial in the family. To maintaining it, there needs to be efforts to grow, process and adapt in order to create resilience and the welfare of family relationships. In a family with a husband as a gamer, has risks and family conflicts due to a penchant for playing online games. The purpose of this study was to examine family resilience in gamer husbands. Informants were obtained through a phenomenological approach on three married couples. The results showed that two families have experienced conflict due to their husband playing games, and the other one did not experience conflict. In families that did not experience conflict, there were preventive efforts by seeking resilience resources in the midst of the risk of conflict that has the potential to occur. Families that have experienced conflict, there is an effort to grow and empower the resilience resources owned in their family. Three couples had family toughness that came from material and immaterial. One of the most prominent material findings was financial power, while the immaterial was time management, communication, and support from parents. However, three couples experience the same conflict but can be muted and did not become a prolonged conflict.
