Abstract

This study presents a comprehensive historical-analytical review of the emergence and development of the Arabic language. Its aim to investigates the historical emergence and development of the Arabic language by systematically reviewing primary philological sources and secondary literature using a library research method within an analytical historical framework. It traces the position of Arabic within the Semitic language family, outlines the early phases of its development in the pre-Islamic period, and investigates the impact of the revelation of the Quran on the standardization and codification of the language. Building on this historical trajectory, the analysis shows that the expansion of the Islamic empire broadened the functions of Arabic, transforming it into a medium of administration, scholarship, and culture enriched through contact with diverse civilizations. Employing a library research method, the study qualitatively analyzes philological sources, the study highlights the period of stagnation following the fall of Baghdad and the subsequent revival during the Nahdah era, marked by lexical renewal and the revitalization of linguistic institutions. The findings indicate that the development of Arabic has not proceeded in a linear manner, but through recurring patterns of adaptation shaped by social, political, religious, and intellectual factors. Overall, this study emphasizes the resilience of the Arabic language and underscores its continued relevance in navigating modern sociocultural dynamics.

Abstract

Arabic grammar (nahwu) remains central to Islamic scholarship, yet the challenge of integrating its classical commentaries into modern pedagogical frameworks persists. This study offers a comparative analysis of Shar? al-Kafraw? ?al? al-Ajurr?miyyah and al- Faw?kih al-J?niyyah ?al? Mutammimah al-Ajurr?miyyah, two seminal works that have shaped grammatical instruction for centuries. Although grounded in the same linguistic tradition, the two texts differ significantly in structure, explanatory style, and pedagogical orientation. This research examines how these differences can inform contemporary nahwu education by revealing the distinct cognitive roles each commentary plays. Using a qualitative, library-based comparative method, the study shows that Shar? al-Kafraw? provides foundational clarity suitable for early-stage learning, while al-Faw?kih al- J?niyyah promotes analytical depth and reflective reasoning. The findings further demonstrate that integrating both commentaries creates a balanced dual-phase instructional model that aligns naturally with modern educational frameworks such as Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). The added value of this study lies in reframing classical texts as structured cognitive systems rather than merely historical references, highlighting their continued relevance for curriculum innovation—especially when enhanced through digital platforms such as the NIBS Center. Ultimately, this research asserts that classical nahwu commentaries remain pedagogically strategic tools capable of bridging traditional linguistic precision with the cognitive demands of 21st-century learning.

Abstract

The global humanitarian crisis shows the limitations of education that is oriented towards knowledge transfer alone. In Islamic higher education, this is reflected in the learning of Arabic which still emphasizes linguistic aspects, thus ignoring the ethical and humanitarian dimensions. Therefore, the humanization of Arabic language learning is an urgency to affirm its role as a medium for internalizing human and Islamic values. In this context, Arabic language education in higher education institutions has long been predominantly linguistics-oriented, often overlooking its transformative potential in fostering humanistic and ethical values. This study aims to describe the integration of humanitarian and ethical values into Arabic language pedagogy in higher education, using a case study conducted in the Arabic Language Education Program at the Institut Agama Islam Riyadlotul Mujahidin Ngabar, Ponorogo. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with lecturers and students, and documentation analysis. The research findings show that the integration of humanistic and ethical values in learning is realized through the application of pedagogical strategies in the form of empathetic dialogue that encourages students' reflective participation, as well as experience-based learning that packages material with students' social and humanitarian realities. This integration contributes to enhancing the quality of the learning process, improving students’ pragmatic competence, and producing graduates who are not only linguistically proficient but also embody Islamic ethical character, moderation, and the capacity to model ethical communication.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of singing methods in improving Arabic vocabulary mastery in early childhood at Kartini Kindergarten. This research was chosen based on observations of the use of singing methods often implemented in 5-6 years old students in group B. However, there was no habit of using Arabic songs in singing, so the researcher took the initiative to implement singing methods associated with the use of vocabulary in order to improve the Arabic vocabulary of 5-6 years old children in group B at Kartini Kindergarten. The approach used in this study was descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through observation and interviews with teachers. Data analysis was carried out through reduction, presentation, and inductive conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that the application of a structured singing method is effective in enriching children's Arabic vocabulary. The songs used are adapted to the learning theme and supported by song movements, thereby increasing creativity and confidence in students. It can be concluded that in this study, the singing method suggests that it is an effective and relevant strategy for increasing Arabic vocabulary in children aged 5–6 years.
