Abstract

In response to the challenges posed by organic soil contamination, a promising approach involves the application of biochar. This study investigates the effects of biochar derived from corncobs on soil organic matter, organic carbon, and soil microbial biomass carbon through one-factor factorial design experiments. Crushed corncobs were subjected to pyrolysis at 300 °C to produce corncobs-biochar, which was incrementally added to pots containing four different levels of paddy soils. Results indicated a significant enhancement (p<0.05) in the physicochemical composition of samples and improved acid degradation upon the addition of corncob-biochar with pH increasing from 1.3 in control to 9.10 in the highest treatment (TP4), along with notable improvements in electrical conductivity, cation exchange capacity, and organic carbon levels. The most effective biochar applications, TP3 and TP4, demonstrated improved nutrient retention and reduced soil acidity. This suggests that incorporating corncob-biochar into the soil can ameliorate acidic conditions and sequester carbon for future ecosystem use. In conclusion, amending soil with corncob-biochar demonstrates a notable enhancement in soil quality. The environmentally friendly application of corncob-biochar could be recommended by offering a sustainable and economically practical strategy for enhancing soil quality, addressing soil degradation, and promoting long-term agricultural productivity.

Abstract

Road traffic accidents continue to be a problem across the world and according to statistics cause high mortality and economic losses. This research work conceptualizes an idea that will use open traffic data and machine learning models to forecast accidents on roads in order to promote road safety. Based on the presented literature review, the framework incorporates a step-by-step procedure to analyze risk factors for targeted safety interventions, including data pre-processing and feature selection, application of a chosen model for high-risk zones identification, and improving the result by altering related factors. The findings show the applicability of open data and predictive analysis in traffic safety matters, with special emphasis on temporal, spatial, and environmental features. Resources allocation, urban traffic control, and monitoring are cases used to illustrate the framework's applicability. Although this is a conceptual model, the challenges, such as data quality, data privacy issues, and practical issues with implementation, are also included in the framework, along with suggestions for future research, such as the use of stream data and improved modeling techniques. This investigation contributes to the literature as a robust theoretical model from which practical solutions for road traffic safety interventions can be derived to reduce and ultimately eliminate traffic accidents and fatalities worldwide.

Abstract

Effective pronunciation and vocabulary acquisition are essential in English language learning, particularly for non-native speakers. Drilling and word repetition techniques are widely regarded as effective strategies for enhancing linguistic skills. This study examines the implementation and perceived effectiveness of these techniques in improving pronunciation, vocabulary, and comprehension among eleventh-grade students at SMK Swadhipa 1 Natar, Lampung Province, Indonesia. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through a structured questionnaire comprising 25 questions, designed to assess students’ confidence, interest, and perceptions of the effectiveness of these methods. Out of 60 students, 29 participated, sharing valuable insights into their experiences and attitudes toward drilling and repetition techniques. The findings reveal that these methods are effective in improving pronunciation, grammatical understanding, and text comprehension. They also boost students’ confidence and interest by offering opportunities for repeated practice and corrective feedback. However, challenges such as pronunciation difficulties and a lack of confidence were reported, highlighting the need for adaptive and supportive teaching practices. This study underscores the importance of integrating repetitive learning approaches into English instruction to foster effective and engaging learning experiences.

Abstract

Batteries are an essential product for alternative energy, required for various electronic devices and everyday human needs. Rechargeable batteries must be carefully managed to avoid quick damage due to improper charging systems or poor-quality chargers. Charging a 12V battery is done by continuously flowing current until the battery voltage reaches its specified value. As technology advances, many battery chargers are available on the market, using either high or low frequencies. By comparing the measurement results of high-frequency charging systems (using MOSFET and switching) and low-frequency systems (using transformers), we can draw conclusions that demonstrate the performance and quality of charging in these different systems.

Abstract

This study constructs mathematical models to evaluate the connection between critical gap dimensions and traffic flow volumes at traffic intersections without signals. Drivers need critical gap as the briefest gap between vehicles to safely move through the road. Traditional theoretical models maintain fixed traffic density patterns even though actual conditions from urban roads typically exhibit changing densities. Including fluctuating traffic density in this model will improve accuracy when studying how changing traffic conditions influence critical gap measurements. The model applies exponential distribution to compute acceptance probabilities of different gap sizes while traffic density adjusts. In more congested traffic conditions drivers accept shorter gaps because the critical gap becomes smaller. The conclusion matches what existing traffic flow theories have previously demonstrated. This model delivers meaningful information regarding traffic management procedures and road intersection design standards particularly for city areas experiencing shifting traffic congestion throughout the day.

Abstract

The advent of quantum computing poses significant threats to traditional cybersecurity systems, which rely on cryptographic algorithms vulnerable to quantum attacks. This research explores the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) in designing a prototype cybersecurity system aimed at countering the emerging threats of quantum computing. The study integrates AI-based intrusion detection systems with quantum-resistant cryptographic techniques to enhance the security of digital systems against quantum-driven cyberattacks. A combination of machine learning algorithms, such as neural networks and decision trees, is employed to detect and mitigate potential cybersecurity breaches. Additionally, post-quantum cryptography (PQC) is incorporated to safeguard sensitive data against the capabilities of quantum computers. The results indicate that the proposed system outperforms conventional cybersecurity methods in detecting threats with greater speed and accuracy, while also providing robust protection against quantum-enabled attacks. Moreover, the integration of AI allows for adaptive and proactive defense mechanisms, improving the overall system resilience. The study concludes that combining AI with post-quantum cryptography offers a promising solution to secure digital infrastructures in the face of quantum computing advancements, marking a significant step toward future-proofing cybersecurity strategies.

Abstract

This study examines the juridical frameworks and legal challenges surrounding digital tax policies as nations attempt to adapt their fiscal regulations to the rapidly evolving global digital economy. Using qualitative descriptive research methodology with a library research approach, this paper analyzes the legal foundations, international tax principles, and policy innovations that shape digital taxation. The research explores how jurisdictions worldwide are addressing tax base erosion, profit shifting, and value creation in digital business models while navigating sovereignty concerns and cross-border enforcement challenges. Findings indicate significant juridical tensions between traditional territorial tax principles and the borderless nature of digital commerce, with emerging legal approaches ranging from unilateral digital services taxes to multilateral framework agreements. The study concludes that effective digital tax regimes require both domestic legislative innovation and international legal harmonization to balance fiscal sovereignty with the practical realities of the global digital marketplace.

Abstract

This article examines the evolution, implementation, and challenges of human rights protection frameworks for women and children who experience violence. Despite significant advancements in international human rights law and domestic legislation, violence against women and children remains pervasive globally, indicating a troubling gap between legal protections and practical realities. Through qualitative descriptive research utilizing a library research approach, this study analyzes the effectiveness of current legal frameworks, identifies implementation barriers, and explores promising practices. The research reveals systemic challenges including insufficient enforcement mechanisms, persistent sociocultural barriers, limited access to justice, and inadequate victim support services. The study concludes that effective protection requires a comprehensive approach combining robust legal frameworks with cultural transformation, institutional accountability, and community engagement. Recommendations include strengthening enforcement mechanisms, addressing cultural and institutional barriers, expanding victim-centered support systems, and enhancing data collection and monitoring protocols.
