Abstract

Increased pollution contributes to cases of atopic dermatitis, which is often treated with topical corticosteroid creams. This study assessed the preference for three creams from two generic industries and one patented product using an affinity test, namely the Hedonic Test and the Hedonic Quality Test. A total of 20 untrained panelists assessed aspects of odor, color, and texture using a 5-point hedonic scale. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and Duncan test. The results showed that texture had significant differences between Samples, with Sample B being rated the lowest. Aroma showed a tendency to differ, but not significantly, while colors were rated similar across all Samples. These findings indicate that product quality improvement should be focused on improving texture and aroma stability to increase consumer acceptance.

Abstract

Indonesia faces unique challenges with breast cancer affecting younger populations, necessitating early health literacy interventions among adolescents to achieve SDG 3.4 targets. To develop a predictive model identifying determinants of breast cancer literacy among Indonesian adolescents. A cross-sectional study was conducted from March-June 2025 in West Sulawesi Province. The sample comprised 58 female adolescents (ages 14-17) from high schools (n=26, 44.8%) and vocational schools (n=32, 55.2%). Data collection utilized validated online surveys measuring ten breast cancer literacy indicators. Binary logistic regression with backward elimination was performed using SPSS 25.0. Overall, 56.9% (n=33) demonstrated inadequate literacy levels, with only 43.1% (n=25) achieving adequate levels. Critical knowledge deficits were found in prevention strategies (1.7% correct) and risk factor identification (37.3% correct), contrasting with high awareness of medical follow-up procedures (96.6% correct). The logistic regression model (Nagelkerke R²=0.618, Hosmer-Lemeshow p=0.512) identified four significant determinants: enrollment in high schools versus vocational schools (OR=4.3, 95% CI: 1.27-14.55, p=0.019), healthcare provider information sources (OR=7.3, 95% CI: 1.44-10.46, p=0.016), digital learning media utilization (OR=3.4, 95% CI: 1.13-10.46, p=0.031), and frequent health information-seeking behavior (OR=3.4, 95% CI: 1.01-11.66, p=0.048). This model enables targeted resource allocation for cancer prevention strategies supporting SDG 3.4, potentially reducing premature mortality through enhanced early detection behaviors among Indonesia's future generations.

Abstract

Gastritis is a common gastrointestinal disorder that can lead to serious complications if not properly managed. Self-medication is a widely practiced method for relieving gastritis symptoms, but improper use of medications without adequate knowledge may result in adverse effects. This study aims to assess the public’s knowledge and behavior regarding self-medication for gastritis and examine its association with educational background, with a specific focus on the setting of a Sharia-based pharmacy. A descriptive cross-sectional design was used, involving 100 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data was collected via online questionnaires and analyzed using chi-square tests. The findings show that the majority of respondents were aged 16–24 years and primarily obtained self-medication information from the internet (33%), followed by pharmacists (31%) and family or friends (26%). Despite the expectation that higher education correlates with better knowledge, the analysis showed no statistically significant relationship between education level and knowledge (p = 0.430), nor between education and self-medication behavior (p = 0.085). Furthermore, 94% of respondents reported never having practiced self-medication for gastritis. These results suggest a disconnect between access to information and actual health behavior. The study highlights the growing reliance on digital health sources and the persistent gap in health literacy, emphasizing the need for more structured and accessible health education to promote safe and responsible self-medication practices in the community, particularly among youth

Abstract

This study aims to analyze patients’ level of knowledge and attitudes toward Beyond Use Date (BUD) at Sharia Pharmacy. BUD refers to the time limit after which a drug’s stability and effectiveness can no longer be guaranteed once its original packaging is opened or the medication is compounded. Public awareness of BUD remains relatively low, which poses potential health risks due to improper drug storage and use. This research employs a descriptive cross-sectional approach with purposive sampling involving 95 respondents who completed an online questionnaire. The data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods, including the Chi-Square test. Results revealed that the majority of respondents were females (73%) aged 17–25 years (82%), with a high school level of education (58%). Overall, 36.8% of respondents demonstrated low knowledge of BUD, while 63.1% showed a concerned attitude toward the issue. Interestingly, no significant correlation was found between education level and knowledge (p = 0.232), nor between gender and attitude (p = 0.073), although the latter approached statistical significance. The study highlights the crucial role of pharmaceutical personnel in educating patients about proper drug storage, especially concerning BUD. Enhanced community education programs are necessary to improve knowledge and behavior, thereby ensuring safe and effective medication use at home and reducing the risk of adverse drug outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the inhibiting factors in coastal waste management in Lawanga Tawongan Sub-district, North Poso City District, Poso Regency. The method used is descriptive qualitative with three main focuses: Facilities, Public Awareness, and Supervision. Data sources were obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation, with primary and secondary data serving as references for analysis. The research findings indicate that facility-related issues are the main obstacles, marked by the limited number of Temporary Disposal Sites (TPS), the lack of waste collection vehicles, and the unequal distribution of trash bins in strategic locations. Public awareness regarding coastal cleanliness remains low, as reflected in the habit of littering and the lack of participation in cleanup activities. Furthermore, supervision from the sub-district government has not been optimal due to the absence of clear regulations or strict sanctions, as well as the lack of a community-based monitoring system. These conditions hinder the effectiveness of waste management efforts. Therefore, an integrated strategy is needed, including infrastructure improvement, environmental education, and the establishment of community-based regulations and supervision.

Abstract

This study explores the process of digital transformation in sales recording systems within Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), focusing on the case of Rumah Abon, a traditional food business in Indonesia. Despite MSMEs’ vital contribution to the national economy, many still rely on manual recording methods, which create risks of human error, inefficiency, and poor decision-making capacity. Using a qualitative descriptive case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving eight key informants directly engaged in the sales cycle. The findings reveal systemic inefficiencies across six critical stages of the sales process: order acceptance, sales processing, shipping, cash receipts, internal control, and reporting. Manual practices led to fragmented information, weak internal controls, and limited analytical capabilities, ultimately constraining business growth. The study concludes that transitioning to a digital accounting information system significantly enhances recording accuracy, operational efficiency, and managerial decision-making. Theoretically, this research contributes to the literature by integrating the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to analyze the transition phase from manual to digital systems. Practically, it provides MSME owners, software developers, and policymakers with strategic insights and recommendations to ensure that digitalization is not merely technological adoption but a holistic process of organizational transformation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of collaborative governance in the development of smart branding in the tourism sector of Banjarmasin City. The main focus of this study is to identify the patterns of collaboration between the actors involved, as well as to analyze the strategies and innovations applied in an effort to form a city identity based on local potential and digital technology. The research method used is a qualitative approach with data collection through in-depth interviews and observations of various stakeholders such as the Culture Office, Youth Sports and Tourism, the private sector, local communities, and academics. The results show that while there is significant potential to create a strong branding ecosystem, collaboration between government and non-government actors has not been fully optimal. In addition, the application of digital technology in the tourism branding strategy of Banjarmasin City is still limited, while the contribution of the local community in the co-creation branding process has not been properly facilitated. This study also found that low coordination between government agencies and a lack of data-based evaluation are obstacles to the effectiveness and sustainability of city branding strategies. Based on the findings, this study recommends the establishment of a more inclusive cross-sectoral collaboration forum, digital capacity building in tourism promotion, and policy updates that support the integration of data-based branding strategies and technology

Abstract

. Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) continues to pose a serious public health challenge in Indonesia, particularly in tropical regions with high population density and poor sanitation. The disease, transmitted primarily by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, has shown a significant increase in recent years. One of the government’s primary interventions to reduce transmission is fogging, which targets adult mosquitoes as a rapid control measure. However, its long-term effectiveness remains debated if not combined with source reduction strategies. A quantitative descriptive study with a cross-sectional design was conducted in January 2025, involving 477 community respondents selected through total sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire on the implementation of fogging and perceptions of its effectiveness via the Kobocollect application. The Chi-Square test confirmed a significant association between fogging implementation and community perceptions of its effectiveness in dengue prevention (0.000; p < 0.05). These findings indicate that fogging plays a positive role in controlling dengue transmission. However, its long-term effectiveness requires community participation in mosquito breeding site eradication (PSN 3M Plus) and the integration of environmental management, health education, and sanitation improvements to achieve sustainable dengue prevention.

Abstract

Employee performance is a critical factor determining the success of public service organizations. This study aims to examine the influence of perceived organizational support (POS) and self-efficacy on employee performance, with employee engagement serving as a mediating variable, among employees of PT Air Minum Bandarmasih (Perseroda). Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 252 employees, with 163 valid responses analyzed using the Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method in SmartPLS 3.0. The results show that POS has a significant positive effect on both employee engagement and performance, while self-efficacy significantly affects engagement but not performance directly. Employee engagement positively influences performance and mediates the effects of both POS and self-efficacy. Overall, the findings underscore the critical role of perceived organizational support, self-efficacy, and employee engagement in improving performance within public service organizations.
