Abstract

Anemia in pregnant women is still one of the significant public health problems in Indonesia. Iron and vitamin C deficiencies are the primary causes of anemia, particularly during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. Nutritional interventions based on local food are one of the effective and sustainable preventive solutions. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of providing date milk pudding with dragon fruit sprinkled with cheese as an alternative functional food in preventing anemia in pregnant women. The research method employed is a quantitative descriptive approach with an intervention component. The subjects of the study consisted of 12 pregnant women who were the targets of nutrition education and intervention for 7 days at Posyandu (Integrated Health Service Post) Anggrek 2, Pasir Muncang Village, Subang. The results showed that pudding consisting of a combination of dates, dragon fruit, milk, and cheese was well received by all respondents. As many as 91.6% of pregnant women said they liked the taste, texture, and appearance of the pudding, and 83.3% said they wanted to try making it themselves at home. The nutritional content in one serving of pudding includes iron ±2.3 mg, vitamin C ±18 mg, protein ±8 g, and calcium ±175 mg, which have the potential to increase hemoglobin levels. In addition to being a nutritious food intervention, this activity also includes nutrition education and demonstrations of making it that foster community nutritional awareness and independence. In conclusion, date milk and dragon fruit pudding sprinkled with cheese is an innovative, affordable, and potentially replicable nutritional intervention alternative in community-based anemia prevention efforts. Further research is needed to test the biochemical effects on hemoglobin levels.

The method used in this activity was direct counseling through seminars and interactive discussions. The material presented covered hormonal changes, their impact on health, and steps that can be taken to address the symptoms that arise. Evaluation was conducted using questionnaires before and after the activity to measure participants' understanding. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge of the hormonal changes that occur during perimenopause and menopause. Participants were also better prepared to deal with the symptoms that arise and understood the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. In conclusion, education about hormonal changes in premenopause and menopause is crucial for increasing women's awareness and preparedness in facing this phase. Similar activities need to be continued to have a broader impact on improving the well-being of older women.

Abstract

Background: The prevalence of stunting in 2024 in the working area of the Kalapa Nunggal Sukabumi Health Center UPTD was 172 (4.98%). From a preliminary survey conducted randomly among pregnant women, it was found that some pregnant women still did not know about stunting prevention in children during pregnancy. The provision of PMT has reduced the incidence of stunting every year. Objective: This activity aims to increase the knowledge of pregnant women about stunting prevention, starting from pregnancy or the First 1000 Days of Life. Method: Participants in this activity were 15 pregnant women and Posyandu cadres. The activity began with a preliminary survey, a Forum Group Discussion (FGD) to determine problem priorities and implement interventions. The intervention was carried out by providing counseling and a Gohyong menu demonstration. Results: The results of the activity showed that direct education was very effective in increasing their knowledge and awareness about stunting. Before the activity was carried out, generally, participants did not clearly understand what stunting is, its causes, or how to prevent it. However, through a communicative approach and easy-to-understand delivery, participants became more aware of the importance of nutritional intake during pregnancy. Conclusion: The health education successfully increased pregnant women's understanding of the importance of balanced nutrition and a healthy lifestyle in preventing stunting during pregnancy. The introduction of healthy menus such as healthy gohyong also strengthened participants' understanding of the daily implementation of balanced nutrition, thus encouraging healthier behavior changes.

Abstract

Stunting remains a critical public health problem with long-term impacts on child growth, cognitive development, and future productivity, particularly in vulnerable communities. Prevention strategies need to be initiated during pregnancy by improving maternal knowledge and nutritional practices through community-based interventions. This community service program aimed to improve pregnant women’s knowledge on stunting prevention through nutrition education combined with local food innovation. The program was implemented at a community health post and involved 30 pregnant women as participants. The intervention included health education sessions on stunting prevention and a practical demonstration of a local food innovation using purple sweet potato pudding as a nutritious supplementary food. Program evaluation was conducted using a pretest–posttest approach to assess changes in participants’ knowledge, supported by participatory observation and direct feedback to evaluate the acceptability of the food innovation. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge, with the mean score improving from 67.7 before the intervention to 90.7 after the program. Participants also demonstrated positive responses toward the local food innovation, perceiving it as easy to prepare, acceptable in taste, and feasible for daily consumption during pregnancy. In conclusion, community-based nutrition education integrated with local food innovation is an effective and practical approach to support stunting prevention among pregnant women and has the potential to be applied more widely within community health services.

Abstract

Breast cancer and cervical cancer remain major causes of morbidity and mortality among women globally, including Indonesian women living abroad. Limited health literacy, restricted access to screening services, and cultural as well as language barriers contribute to delayed detection, particularly among Indonesian migrant women in South Korea. This community service program aimed to improve knowledge, awareness, and preventive behavior related to breast and cervical cancer among members of the Indonesian Muslim women community (Rumaisa) in Seoul. The activity employed a participatory educational approach, including health education sessions, audiovisual presentations, group discussions, and practical early detection through routine screening and healthy lifestyle practices. Participants also demonstrated increased confidence in performing BSE and expressed willingness to disseminate the information to other community members. In conclusion, structured and community-based educational interventions are effective in enhancing health literacy and promoting preventive behaviors related to breast and cervical cancer. Continuous and sustainable health education programs are recommended to strengthen cancer prevention demonstrations of breast self-examination (BSE). Evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test questionnaires to assess changes in participants’ knowledge. The results showed a significant improvement in participants’ understanding of risk factors, early signs, prevention strategies, and the importance of efforts and reduce the burden of breast and cervical cancer among Indonesian migrant women.
