Abstract

     The use of smartphones has been widely used by the public. However, in the field of education teachers have not made optimal use of the online learning process. Electronic comic media (e-comics) can be an interesting choice of  learning media for problems experienced by students when online such as low motivation and student learning outcomes, one of which is psychotropic mateeial. The purpose of this research was to analyse the characteristics of e-comic biology learning media on psychotropic material for high school students, analyse the feasibility of e-comic biology learning media on psychotropic material for high school students, and analyse the effectiveness of e-comic biology learning media on student learning outcomes on psychotropic material. The research used a Research and Development (R&D) approach which was tested at SMA Negeri 1 Petarukan on a small scale with 24 respondents from class XII MIPA. While the large-scale trial with 100 students from XI MIPA 4, XI MIPA 5, and XI MIPA 6 respondents. The e-comics that were successfully developed were declared valid by media and material experts with obtaining percentages of 93.6% and 88.8 % which showed e-comics in the very feasible criteria. Student learning outcomes after using e-comics obtained a classical completeness percentage of class XI MIPA 4 of 97%, XI MIPA 5 of 91%, and XI MIPA 6 of 91%. The responses of teachers and students showed positive results, seen from the percentages obtained, namely 94% and 98.6%, which indicated that e-comics were in very good criteria. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that e-comic learning media on psychotropic material meet the criteria of being appropriate and effective for use as learning media for high school students.

Abstract

The critical thinking skills of students in class XI SMAN 1 Bawang are low because of their lack of active participation. Students rely too much on the teacher, so they have difficulty mastering the coordination system material. This study aims to describe the characteristics of the diktat, analyze its feasibility, and analyze the improvement of students' critical thinking skills after using the problem-based learning and coordination system diktat. This research is a type of development research (Research and Development) with the ADDIE model. The subjects of this study were students of classes XI and XII MIPA SMAN 1 Bawang in the even semester of the 2022–2023 academic year. The sampling used the purposive sampling technique. The readability of the problem-based learning-based coordination system dictated by 18 XII grade students in the small-scale test obtained a result of 81.69% with a very feasible category.  The results of this study indicate that the problem-based learning-based coordination system dictates self-directed, self-contained, adaptive, user-friendly, and attractive appearance characteristics. The results of lecturer validation of the feasibility of the diktat of 95.83%, teacher assessment of 86.67%, and student responses of 77.36% showed an average of 86.62% that the developed product was very feasible to use in learning the coordination system. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the problem-based learning-based coordination system diktat was tested by involving 107 students from three XI MIPA classes. 92.53% of students got a complete score of KKM (70). There were differences in students' critical thinking skills after the pretest and post-test. The average n-gain score obtained in the student critical thinking ability test was 0.63 with moderate criteria. The conclusion of this research is that the problem-based learning-based coordination system dictate meets the characteristics of a dictate, is very feasible to use in learning, and is effective because it can improve the critical thinking skills of grade XI students of SMAN 1 Bawang on coordination system material.

Abstract

      This research was motivated by the use of androids in schools after the pandemic, which caused students' learning concentration to be disrupted and the learning model to be less attractive. Students prefer learning models that are more interesting than learning models using the lecture method. One of the interesting learning models is e-module media. E-Module offers easy interactive navigation for its users, which can be applied via Android. The object of this research is the students of Class X, SMA N 12, Semarang. This research is a type of Research and Development (R&D) 4D model, but it is only carried out in three stages: define, design, and develop. The results of this study indicate that the developed e-module media is very suitable for use as a learning medium. This can be seen from the average validation score percentage of media experts of 94.5%, which is a very decent category. The percentage of the average validation score of material experts is 91,5%, which is a very decent category. The results of the readability test questionnaire were 88,1% in the very decent category. There is an increase in students' critical thinking through the N-gain test of 9% in the low category, 31% in the medium category, and 60% in the high category, where as many as > 80% of students get the medium to high category of increased critical thinking or N-gain > 0,3. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the android-based e-module through problem-based learning is very feasible to use and can improve students' critical thinking on environmental change material.

Abstract

The PBLHS initiative in schools aims to cultivate individuals with strong environmental literacy skills, which can contribute to reducing environmental issues. The results of the interview suggest that the schools in Adiwiyata have not carried out an assessment of the environmental literacy of their students, despite its critical role in enhancing policies for PBLHS implementation. This study aims to assess the environmental literacy of high school students in Semarang regarding their knowledge, cognitive skills, and attitudes. The research used a descriptive quantitative method, surveying 375 respondents from class XI MIPA in the second semester of 2022/2023 from high schools that were awarded Adiwiyata. The research instrument utilized the environmental literacy assessment framework developed by NAAEE and adapted to high school biology materials. The environmental literacy of Class XI MIPA students at Adiwiyata High School in Semarang City is categorized as moderate in terms of knowledge, cognitive skills, and attitudes, with an average score of 35 for knowledge, 37 for cognitive skills, and 45 for attitudes. Knowledge of ecological systems, the impact of gas pollutants on environmental pollution, and the ability to identify environmental issues are critical areas for improvement. Additionally, students must be responsible for protecting the environment and have a strong sense of self-efficacy. Factors that influence students' environmental literacy skills include individual, school, and family environment, particularly in developing habits that promote environmental protection.

Abstract

This research is survey research, to determine biology cognitive abilities students in grade X students in the public high schools in Makassar City. The study population was all students of class X science from 23 public high schools in Makassar City in the 2022/2023 academic year. Sample withdrawal was carried out using cluster random sampling and simple random sampling techniques. The total number of research samples was 254 students taken from 8 schools, namely: SMAN 4 Makassar, SMAN 5 Makassar, SMAN 6 Makassar, SMAN 9 Makassar, SMAN 14 Makassar, SMAN 16 Makassar, SMAN 20 Makassar, and SMAN 21 Makassar. The instrument used was 25 items of multiple-choice questions. Data collection was done by distributing tests to students. Data analysis was done descriptively. The results showed that the biology cognitive competencies of class X science pupils at public high school in Makassar City in the low category as of many as 81 people (31.89%), medium category as many as 127 people (50%), high category as many as 31 people (12.2%) and very high category as many as 15 people (5.91%). Based on these results, the cognitive ability of biology class X science students of public senior high school in Makassar City is classified in the medium category.

Abstract

Problem-solving ability and entrepreneurial interest are the kinds of skills that must be owned by the students to face the world of work and citizenship in the 21st century. The PjBL model through waste product development projects as a solution to solving environmental problems is considered a potential learning strategy for developing problem-solving ability and entrepreneurial interest student. The background of SMA Negeri 1 Kersana as an adiwiyata school which has various waste management and processing activities has the potential to implement projects to manage old leaf waste into leaf skeleton craft products. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of the PjBL model on students' problem-solving ability and entrepreneurial interest in environmental change material, and analyze the relationship between problem-solving ability and entrepreneurial interest in learning the PjBL model. This research used pre experimental design with the one shot case study. The population in this study were class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Kersana who received biology subjects for the 2023/2024 school year. Sampling was carried out using cluster random sampling technique, the sample in this study was class X-2 with 36 students. The test instruments was used to measure students' problem solving ability while questionnaire instruments was used to measure entrepreneurial interest. The average score of problem solving ability was 77.05 and the posttest classical completeness of problem solving ability was 91.67%. The average score ofentrepreneurial interest was 83.9 and the criteria level for entrepreneurial interest is good at 27.78%, very good at 72.22%. Based on these results, it can be  concluded that PjBL is effective on students' problem-solving ability and entrepreneurial interest in environmental change material. The results of a simple linear regression test between problem solving ability and students' entrepreneurial interest show tcount > ttable, namely 2.466 > 2.032 and a significance level of 0.019 < 0.05, so there is a significant positive relationship between problem solving ability and students' entrepreneurial interest in the PjBL learning model.

Abstract

Biology learning requires students to think critically, logically, factually and the reproductive system material is complicated, making it difficult for students to understand the lesson and lack collaboration skills. The aim of this research is to analyze the validity, practicality and effectiveness of scientific literacy-based E-LKPD on reproductive system material to improve high school students' learning outcomes and collaboration skills. The type of research used is Research and Development research with a pre-experimental  one group pretest-posttest design. The population in the study were students of grade XI SMA Negeri 7 Semarang. The research sample selection used a purposive sampling technique with samples from class XI-5 and XI-6. The research stages include potential and problem analysis, product design, product validation, initial product revision, small-scale trials, final product revisions, large-scale trials, and final product. The research results show that the validity of the E-LKPD product based on scientific literacy on reproductive system material obtained very valid criteria with a percentage of 92,13%. The practicality of E-LKPD products based on scientific literacy on reproductive system material obtained very practical criteria with a percentage of 93,45% from teachers and 93,55% from students. E-LKPD based on scientific literacy on reproductive system material was declared effective in improving learning outcomes with an average N-gain of 0,62 and collaboration skills with a score of  90,62%. E-LKPD based on scientific literacy on reproductive system material was successfully developed in the category of very valid, very practical, and effective in improving learning outcomes and collaboration skills at SMA Negeri 7 Semarang.

Abstract

The latest PISA score results in 2022 state that the scientific literacy abilities of students in Indonesia are in the low category. Based on the results of a questionnaire analyzing the needs for teaching materials at SMA Teuku Umar Semarang, the teaching materials implemented had not yet trained scientific literacy in the aspects of content, process and context. The aim of this research is to develop an electronic module (E-module) based on Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) on human mobility material that is feasible, practical and effective to improve students' scientific literacy skills. The research design used is Research and Development using the 4D (Four-D) model stages, including: Define, Design, Development, and Dissemination. Data collection tools include product feasibility questionnaires, product practicality questionnaires, and multiple choice test instruments. Based on the research results, the e-module was declared very feasible with a percentage score of 96.2% by material experts and 97.9% by media experts. In the practicality test, it was stated that it was very practical with the percentage of scores obtained based on teacher responses, namely 87% and the percentage of scores from students of 89%. In the effectiveness test, it was declared effective in improving scientific literacy skills with a percentage of 94.83% of students who obtained N-Gain scores in the medium and high categories.

Abstract

Learning about environmental issues has not been carried out well, the environment around the school is not utilized optimally. Problems in the environment around the school can be used as a learning resource to improve students' thinking abilities in creating solutions. Students gain meaningful learning experiences through problem-based exploratory learning in the environment around the school. The research aims to analyze the effect of applying the Problem-based Explorative Learning Model (PEM) in learning environmental problems on increasing students' ability to create solutions. This research uses a pre-experimental design, one group pretest-posttest design. Samples were taken using random sampling technique. Data was collected through observation sheet instruments, essay test questions, student response reflection journals and biology teacher responses. The effect of the PEM model was measured using the Paired Sample T-test with a Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.000 <0.05 and an N-gain score indicating a Sig value. 0.76>0.7. The results show that there are differences in pretest-posttest scores on the variable ability to create solutions and a significant influence on the application of the PEM Model in learning environmental problems. Achievement of the Ability to Create Solutions (KMS) indicator shows an average score of 82%. The implementation of the PEM Model syntax was measured using a student response instrument with an average score of 87% and a biology teacher response instrument with an average score of 94%. The implementation of learning using the PEM Model was very good. In conclusion, the PEM model has a significant effect in increasing students' ability to create solutions to learning environmental problems.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of applying reflective journals integrated with literacy on students' critical thinking skills on ecosystem material. The type of research is quasi-experimental. The population in the study was class X students of SMA Negeri 2 Demak in the 2023/2024 academic year. The research sample was class X.11 as the experimental class and class X.12 as the control class. The data collection techniques used were non-test, test, questionnaire and observation methods. Based on data analysis, the level of learning implementation by applying reflective journals integrated with literacy is 91.25% in the excellent category. Questionnaire analysis of students' responses to learning showed that 33% of students responded to the questionnaire in the excellent category, 63.9% of students in the good category, and 2.8% of students in the fair category. The effect of applying reflective journaling integrated with literacy on critical thinking skills was measured by pretest and posttest in classes X.11 and X.12, then calculated using the N-Gain test. The N-Gain test results obtained in the experimental class amounted to 32.75% with a moderate category and in the control class amounted to 13.1% with a low category. These results indicate that the increase in critical thinking skills in the experimental class is higher than the control class. The results of the Spearman Rank correlation test showed a Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.001 and the correlation coefficient value of 0.545. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the application of reflective journals integrated with literacy has a significant effect with a moderate category on students' critical thinking skills on ecosystem material.
