Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe the science learning by using science kit which is integrated to the hands on method at Year VB Elementary School SDN Model Terpadu Madani Palu. The learning was focused on main material subject of optics kits. The instruments which used on this study ; Lesson Plans, observation sheet s for teacher and student’s activities, observation sheets of Hand on and Minds on for student, pretest and posttest for action on each cycle. The results showed on cycle I, the student’s score on Mind on was 53,93 with classical average 2.45 or “start to see” with the percent of 61,28 which categorized as “good enough”. On Cycle II, the score was 79,43, average 3,61 or “ to be use to” with the percent of 90,18 which categorized as “very good”. Student’s Hand on, at Cycle I, the score was 57,27, average 2,60 or “ develop” and it was done at 65,10% and categorized as good enough whereas the cycle II showed score 78,43 average 3,56 or “ to be use to” and done at 89,13 % (very good). Teacher’s activity score on cycle I was 63, average 3,32, done 82,89% (good) and student’s activity score 75,93, average 3.45 and done 86,28% (good). Whereas on cycle II, Teacher’s activity score 70, average 3,68, done 92,90 % (very good) and student’s activity score, 82,64 (good), average 3,76, and done 93,90% (very good). For the test result of pre-action was 1633, the classical average 74, Classical absorption 74,22%, the classical complete up to 50%. On cycle I , 1836 score, classical average 83, classical absorption 83,45%, classical complete 7,27%, on cycle II, 1887 score, average 86, classical absorption 87,77 %, classical complete was 90,90%. It can be concluded that science learning by using science kit integrated to the hands on method can improve the student’s mind on at year VB Elementary school SDN Model Terpadu madani Palu.

Abstract

The research aims to analyze the improvement of science process skills and understanding concepts among students who took Children's Learning in Science (CLIS) and conventional learning model. The research used quasi-experimental: pretest-posttest control group design. The subjects of research were 30 students from Grade VIIIA and 30 students from Grade VIIIB of SMP Negeri 5 Marawola in academic year 2013/2014. The two groups were determined through cluster random sampling. Data were collected by using science process skills test, conceptual understanding test and questionnaire of students' responses on CLIS learning model. Data were analyzed by using SPSS 16.0 for Windows. The average N-gain of science process skill gain for both experimental and control group were in moderate category. The average N-gain of conceptual understanding for the experimental group were in moderate category and the control group were in low category. Based on the significance analysis, it could be obtained that for α = 0,05: 1) there is a difference of students’ science process skills between the experimental group and the control group (tcount.>ttable); 2) there is no difference students’ conceptual understanding of the experimental group and the control group (tcount.<ttable); and 3) there is a correlation between students’ science process skills and conceptual understanding (rcount.>rtable). Results of analysis of questionnaires showed that almost entirely students expressed that they were happy and motivated to get an active role in CLIS learning. Thus CLIS learning could improve science process skills and conceptual understanding of vibrations and waves. The learning model could provide a positive stimulus to students to learn physics.

Abstract

The study aimed, to describe the difference of students’ learning outcomes of (1) cooperative integrated reading and composition (CIRC) and direct instruction on biology subject, (2) describe the different of critical thinking high level and the lowest by student learning outcomes. This study using quasi experiment. All students in grade 10 who enrolled 2013-2014 would become research subject. The sample of this research consisted of two classes: X MIA5 and X MIA6. The results showed that the comparison between the two learning models can be seen with the magnitude of the significant probability value < 0.05. There is also a difference between the learning outcomes of students who have highest critical thinking skills with students who have the lowest, where the average of each value 55.63 and 38.42 or significant probability value < = 0.05. It could be concluded, that the student who have the highest critical-thinking skills were taught by using both learning models was better learning-outcomes than the lowest.

Abstract

The characters of students can be developed through a learning process integrated to the subjects of chemistry on the distinctiveness of carbon atoms with stimulus on the achievement of learning outcomes in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects through cooperative method of STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) type. This study analysed and described: (1) effect of learning the distinctiveness of carbon atoms charged characters to develop characters of students at SMK Negeri 1 Tolitoli; (2) effect of learning the distinctiveness of carbon atoms charged characters to the learning outcomes of students at SMK Negeri 1 Tolitoli; (3) effect of characters to the learning outcomes on learning the distinctiveness of carbon atoms at SMK Negeri 1 Tolitoli. This study used a quasi-experimental method. The samples was whole classes of X CEN (Computer Engineering and Networks) consisting of class X CEN1 with 32 students as an experimental group, and class X CEN2 with 34 students as a control group, which were determined by purposive random sampling technique. The data were collected using questionnaires, tests, interviews and observation sheets. The data were analysed using t-test with the significance level α= 0.05. The results showed that (1) learning the distinctiveness of carbon atom charged characters affected to develop characters of students at SMK Negeri 1 Tolitoli showed by significance value (0,000) < α (0,05); (2) learning the distinctiveness of carbon atom charged characters affected to the learning outcomes of students at SMK Negeri 1 Tolitoli showed by significance value (0,000) < α (0,05); and (3) the characters affected to the learning outcomes on learning the distinctiveness of carbon atoms at SMK Negeri 1 Tolitoli showed by significance value (0,005) < α (0,05).

Abstract

The major problem of this research was that any students had under school minimum standard of mastery learning on their daily exam of Science concepts. The school minimum standard of mastery learning was 75%. Therefore, experimental research was conducted with the aim of implementation of learning method through skills process to improve learning outcomes of Science on students class IV at SDN Model Terpadu Madani Palu. Learning was focused on the integrated thematic learning through scientific approach and authentic assessment recommended by Curriculum 2013. The instruments were learning plans including learning scenarios, teacher and student activities observation sheets, and pretest and posttest. Results of the data analysis showed that learning by inquiry method through skills process improved an average posttest score to 6.15, while the learning mastery reached up 24.24%. The authentic assessment as the characteristic of scientific assessment on integrated science had an average attitude 3.30 (start developing) with the percentage average 82.72%. Teacher activities implemented reached an average 4.95 with the percentage average implemented 99.16% or very good implementation, and activities of 24 students implemented reached an average 4.69 with the percentage average implemented 93.89% or very good implementation. It can be concluded that the application of inquiry learning model through skills process improved the learning outcomes of Science through integrated thematic and authentic assessment approaches.

Abstract

The main problem on this research is the low activity and learning output on the year six students elementary school (SD) Inpres 1 Tondo. Therefore, based on this problem, classroom action research has been done. The aim of this research is to implement the cooperative learning model of group investigation type. The studying focused on the main material about less energy which taught on semester II based on the program at that school. The instrument which used was lesson plans, scenario of teaching, sheets of observation activity for student and teacher, and final test at the action of cycle 2. For the results of learning output on cognitive at the pre-action average score was 65,9 the classical understanding was 65,9 and the classical completed was 52,5%. On cycle I, the average learning output score was 68,7, the classical understanding was 65,9, and 65,9% of classical understanding. On cycle II, the average csore was 88,30, and the classical completed was 87,5%. In cycle I, affective score was average 3,2 (begin to develope), in cycle II, it was 3,55 (habit). Psychomotorscore was average 3,2 (begin to develop) in cycle I and it was 3,8 (habit) in cycle II. To achieve the criterion of classical completed was influenced by the optimum of teacher and student actifity during the learning process using group investigation.

Abstract

This education research aims to investigate the difference learning outcomes of the students taught using cooperative learning model NHT type and conventional type on physics subject of SMP Negeri 2 Poso, find out the different result of students with high beginning ability and those have low ability on physics, and find out whether any or not interaction of learning model and beginning ability of the students learning outcomes on physics. The Population was 130 students of the eighth grade. The research sample consisting of class VIIIA and VIIIB. Design used was factorial 2 x 2. The data were collected through thinking ability and learning achievement test. The data were analyzed by using ANOVA two ways. The result indicates that there was difference of learning outcomes of students taught cooperative learning NHT type from those taught conventional method (p-value < 0,05), different learning outcomes of the students with high beginning ability and those with low beginning ability (p-value < 0,05), no interaction between learning model and beginning ability toward the students learning outcomes (p-value > 0,05) that means the students with high beginning ability will be better their learning outcomes than those with low beginning ability of cooperative learning model NHT type or conventional learning

Abstract

This research aimed to result computer-based interactive learning media for eighth grade students of Junior High School. Developed interactive learning media consisted of two main parts: material and evaluation. The procedure of development followed Borg and Gall model. The interactive learning was validated by material and media experts. The material validation result was in very good category and media validation was in good category. The media was tried out at SMP Negeri 3 Palu. The students’ response in small and large-scale try out were in very good category. The students’ learning achievement showed an improvement where normalized gain (<g>) was in moderate category. The results showed that developed interactive learning media is feasible to use as an learning media in supporting conceptual understanding.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dinamika transpor sedimen di Estuari Sungai Palu yang memiliki batimetri curam dan perairan yang dangkal di muara. Simulasi model hidrodinamika dan transpor sedimen dilakukan dengan menggunakan model tiga dimensi ECOMSED yang dibangun oleh HydroQual, Inc., (2002). Simulasi dilakukan dengan menggunakan gaya pembangkit debit sungai dan pasang surut. Hasil simulasi pola arus pada penampang horizontal pada setiap kondisi pasang surut dominan bergerak ke luar teluk, pada penampang vertikal, saat elevasi pasang tertinggi arus bergerak memasuki teluk pada lapisan paling bawah dengan kecepatan arus yang relatif kecil. Perhitungan elevasi permukaan dan kecepatan arus pada penampang vertikal memperlihatkan kesesuaian yang baik dengan data sekunder dan DISHIDROS dan observasi arus. Hasil simulasi transpor sedimen menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi sedimen pada penampang horizontal dan vertikal dominan dipengaruhi oleh debit sungai dibandingkan dengan pengaruh pasang surut.

Abstract

This study tries to describe the influence of ICT media toward student’s motivation and learning outcome.The study question was how to ICT media influences toward student’s motivation and learning outcome.This study was carried out at SDN Model Terpadu Madani Palu on even semester 2013-2014. The methods of this study was experiment by using ICT media as dependent variable (X). Motivation and learning outcomes as independent variable (Y). The result of this study by using F-test were both the motivation and learning outcome very significant. The result of Fcount motivation and learning outcome each by 242.07 and 121.00. This result more than Ftable (1%) = 94.40. In conclusion: By using ICT media on science learning at grade 5th SDN Model Terpadu Madani Palu would be increasing ofstudent’s motivation and learning outcome.
