Abstract

The prevalence of adult obesity in Indonesia continues to increase, reaching 23.4% according to the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey. This condition is closely related to low dietary fiber intake and changes in dietary patterns. Meanwhile, Wiyono Village produces large amounts of solid and liquid tofu waste that remain underutilized. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of the Sekar Mawar Women Farmers Group (KWT) in processing tofu waste into Tempe Gembus and Nata de Soya as healthy food innovations for obesity prevention. The program applied the Participatory Action Learning System (PALS) through nutrition education using the GEMSOYA E-Booklet, combined with fermentation training and innovative food processing practices. A total of 19 KWT members participated in the activities. The evaluation results showed an increase in the average knowledge score from 74.7 in the pre-test to 83.6 in the post-test. Participants were also able to independently process Tempe Gembus and Nata de Soya using simple household equipment. This program contributes to improving nutrition literacy, promoting the utilization of local food resources within a circular economy framework, and creating opportunities for community-based entrepreneurship to support obesity prevention efforts.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a degenerative disease that requires continuous nutritional managementthrough the 3J diet principles (Schedule, Amount, and Type). This community service aims to increase the knowledge of elderly patients with DM in the Pringsewu Community Health Center work area through innovative educational media intervention. The participants were 29 elderly women aged 41-60 years. The method involved providing interactive education using the "DiabeTV Care Box" and leaflets, with evaluation conducted via pre-test and post-test. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results of this community service showed a significant increase in knowledge (p=0.000), where the proportion of respondents in the "very good" knowledge category rose from 72.41% to 96.55%. The use of the visual media "DiabeTV Care Box" proved effective in helping the elderly understand complex dietary concepts by making them more concrete. In conclusion, nutrition education based on innovative media significantly improves the elderly's understanding of independent diabetes diet management

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the most prevalent non-communicable diseases and a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. The management of hypertension involves not only pharmacological therapy but also health education and appropriate physical activity, one of which is ergonomic exercise. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of older adults with hypertension in performing ergonomic exercise in the working area of Tenayan Raya Public Health Center, Pekanbaru. The target participants of this program were four older adults with hypertension. The program was conducted using personalized health education and demonstration methods, accompanied by the community service team. The participants' skills were evaluated through direct observation of their ability to perform ergonomic exercise correctly. The results showed that all four participants were able to perform the ergonomic exercise movements properly after the training. In conclusion, this community service program improved the knowledge and skills of older adults with hypertension in performing ergonomic exercise as a non-pharmacological approach to support hypertension management. This program is expected to be implemented continuously as a promotive and preventive strategy to improve the quality of life of patients with hypertension.

Abstract

During adolescence, individuals generally exhibit a strong curiosity about their surroundings. This encourages them to explore, seek new experiences, and try new things (Azinar, 2013). At this stage, adolescents generally exhibit a high level of curiosity, a passion for trying new things, and a tendency to make decisions without carefully considering the risks. Therefore, various problems can arise during adolescence, including those related to romantic relationships and premarital sexual behavior (Handayani & Ratnasari, 2023). Premarital sexual behavior involves physical contact with the opposite sex and can develop into an intimate relationship. Sexual behavior can be divided into risky and non-risky sexual behavior (Maya Icha Gayatri, 2020). Unintended pregnancy is one of the common consequences of premarital sexual relations among adolescent girls. This condition is generally related to puberty, a developmental phase that occurs during adolescence (Fauziah & Subiyatin, 2022). The purpose of this community service activity was to increase adolescent knowledge about promiscuity and unwanted pregnancy. It took place on January 12, 2026, in Classroom 1 of the Nursing Students of the Applied Nursing Undergraduate Program at the Riau Ministry of Health Polytechnic. The community service activity began with education about promiscuity and unwanted pregnancy, followed by a discussion and Q&A session.

Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy is a fundamental public health issue due to its high risk to maternal and fetal safety. Interventions using Iron-Folic Acid tablets are often hindered by low compliance caused by side effects. This community engagement program aimed to improve the knowledge and practical skills of pregnant women and health cadres in utilizing local food resources from Riau—specifically the combination of sago and roselle calyx, which are rich in iron and vitamin C—into a healthy food product called "Guchiro" (Sago Roselle Mochi) as an alternative non-pharmacological anemia prevention strategy. The activities were carried out through interactive education, product-making demonstrations, hands-on workshops, and group mentoring. The evaluation results showed an increase in partners' understanding of local food-based nutritional interventions and the acquisition of practical skills among cadres to produce hygienic, highly nutritious supplementary food. This program is recommended for continuous implementation through integration with local health posts and community-based enterprises.
