Abstract

Funeral care is an essential religious obligation in Islam, yet many communities lack adequate knowledge and experience in performing proper funeral rites. This community service project aimed to provide education and practical training on caring for the deceased following Islamic teachings. Conducted in Sumur Bandung Hamlet, Haurgeulis District, Indramayu Regency, on January 31, 2025, the training involved 40 participants, including 10 men and 30 women. The methods used included lectures to deliver theoretical knowledge, demonstrations to show correct procedures, and hands-on practice to enhance participants’ skills. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ understanding and abilities in funeral care. Prior to the training, only 13 participants had prior experience or training, while 27 had never been exposed to funeral care procedures. By the end of the session, all participants had gained practical experience and demonstrated improved knowledge. This initiative not only enhanced religious literacy but also fostered social awareness and solidarity within the community. It is recommended that similar training programs be conducted regularly to ensure community readiness in fulfilling this religious duty.

Abstract

Islamic education plays a strategic role in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of social empowerment and environmental preservation. This research is motivated by the need for an educational approach that is not only religious but also capable of driving fair and sustainable social transformation. This study aims to analyze how Islamic education, especially through institutions such as Islamic boarding schools and madrasas, integrates sustainability values into curricula and daily practices. The method employed is qualitative research with a descriptive-analytical approach, examining various Islamic educational practices that align with the principles of the SDGs. The results show that Islamic values such as maslahah 'ammah (public benefit), justice, and the role of humans as khalifah (stewards) strongly support the foundations of sustainable development. Islamic educational institutions have been actively engaged in social, economic, and environmental activities, including skills training, Islamic entrepreneurship, reforestation programs, and waste management. Although challenges remain—such as limited resources and teacher training—Islamic education holds great potential to foster self-reliant and environmentally conscious communities. Through curriculum strengthening, continuous teacher development, and cross-sector collaboration, Islamic education can serve as a powerful driver of change toward a more just and sustainable future.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of photosynthesis learning as an effort to foster environmental awareness among children of Putera Bonang Orphanage Banjarmasin. The research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach, focusing on the process of learning, the changes in children’s attitudes, and their behavioral responses toward the environment. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation to capture the impact of the learning activities. The findings indicate that introducing photosynthesis through interactive and contextual learning methods not only enhanced children’s understanding of the concept but also encouraged them to adopt more positive attitudes, such as caring for plants, maintaining cleanliness, and engaging in environmentally friendly activities. The study concludes that photosynthesis learning can serve as an effective educational tool to cultivate environmental awareness and responsibility among orphanage children, thus contributing to character development based on scientific knowledge and ecological values.

Abstract

Islamic education management has a strategic role in integrating spiritual values with modern managerial principles to strengthen the quality of Islamic educational institutions. This article aims to conceptually examine the five fundamental pillars of Islamic education management, namely value-based planning, prophetic leadership, adaptive Islamic curriculum, holistic human resource development, and character-oriented evaluation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a library research method. The data sources in this study are 17 secondary sources, including scientific books and reputable national and international journal articles from 2012 to 2025 that are relevant to the theme of Islamic education management. Data was searched using the Publish or Perish application with purposive sampling, i.e., only literature relevant to the five main pillars of the study, namely value-based planning, prophetic leadership, adaptive Islamic curriculum, holistic human resource development, and ethics-oriented evaluation, was used as material for analysis. Data search was conducted using the Publish or Perish application. The results of the study indicate that strengthening these five pillars is the main foundation in developing an integrative Islamic education management that is relevant to the demands of the modern era. The integration of spirituality and rationality in the management of Islamic educational institutions is central to the formation of a generation with excellent character, professionalism, and noble morals. This study emphasizes the importance of the conceptual framework of Islamic education management as the basis for developing managerial strategies that are adaptive to global transformation without abandoning Islamic identity.

Abstract

Women's religious study activities are a form of non-formal religious education that plays a strategic role in the internalization of religious values within the family. This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of religious values through women's religious study activities and their contribution to family empowerment in Pandan District. This study applies a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. This approach is used to obtain an in-depth picture of the social reality related to the application of religious values in women's religious study activities . The study was conducted in Pandan District with subjects including religious study administrators, female religious teachers , and members of women's religious study activities as referred to by Sugiyono (2019). Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews with 10 respondents to obtain information related to the implementation process and the impact of religious study activities. Direct observation was also conducted to observe the course of activities. Data analysis was carried out in stages through the process of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions in accordance with the Miles and Huberman analysis model. The research results show that women's religious study activities serve not only as a means of increasing religious understanding but also as a means of strengthening women's roles in fostering religious, harmonious, and independent families. The continuous implementation of religious values has an impact on improving the spiritual, social, and economic quality of families.
