Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate an interactive e-module for classical Arabic poetry analysis based on Project-Based Learning (PjBL) using a digital platform, as well as to assess its effectiveness in improving students’ literary analysis competence. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) design, consisting of needs analysis, module design, expert validation, limited trials, and effectiveness evaluation. Validation was conducted by experts in Arabic literature and educational media, while the trial phase involved students as respondents to assess usability, media attractiveness, and learning engagement. The findings indicate that the developed e-module demonstrates high content and design validity, featuring materials aligned with the principles of classical Arabic poetry, clear PjBL project instructions, and multimedia elements that support interactive learning. Students’ responses to the module were highly positive; the module enhanced motivation, active engagement, and collaboration during project implementation. Its effectiveness is further reflected in students’ improved ability to identify intrinsic elements of poetry, interpret symbolism, understand cultural context, and construct coherent and reflective analytical arguments. Challenges such as technical constraints and adaptation to PjBL methods were mitigated through instructor guidance and module refinement. Thus, the interactive PjBL-based e-module proves effective as an innovative learning medium for the analysis of classical Arabic poetry, while also strengthening students’ analytical skills, critical thinking, and collaboration. This module serves as a relevant and sustainable technology-based learning model for Arabic literature education in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the experiences of third-semester students of the Arabic Education Study Program (PBA) at Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM) in facing difficulties in learning Arabic grammar (nahwu) in the digital era. Using an interpretative phenomenological approach, this study involved eight purposively selected participants. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews and analyzed using Colaizzi’s method. The results show that students face various challenges, including: (1) conceptual difficulties in understanding basic nahwu topics such as amil, i’rab, and mabni-mu‘rab, (2) analytical difficulties in analyzing long sentences or Arabic texts, and (3) practical difficulties related to reliance on digital media. Despite these challenges, digital media play a crucial role in supporting nahwu learning, though they also present challenges due to unstructured information and digital distractions. Students developed various adaptive strategies, such as using digital applications, re-writing notes in visual schema formats, and engaging in collaborative learning within groups. The experience of learning nahwu is not only a process of mastering content but also a process of shaping students' academic and professional identity as prospective Arabic language teachers. The implications of this study emphasize the need for a more interactive and multimodal approach to nahwu instruction, integrating technology and traditional methods in balance to enhance students' understanding of complex content.

Abstract

This study analyzes the need for Arabic language education in the tourism sector, focusing on teaching Arabic for specific purposes within the context of halal tourism. Based on a literature review, the findings indicate that the skills required include verbal communication abilities, mastery of tourism-related vocabulary, as well as an understanding of cultural nuances and social interactions with Arabic-speaking tourists. The main challenge identified is the dialectal differences among Arab countries, which can hinder effective communication. This study recommends the use of Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) as the standard for Arabic language teaching in the tourism sector, as well as the implementation of situational-based methods and digital technology to enhance communication skills. The limitation of this study lies in its reliance on literature review, which does not involve empirical data from the field, making the results theoretical and not fully reflective of the real-world dynamics in the tourism sector. Further research involving interviews with practitioners in the tourism industry could provide a deeper understanding of the challenges and needs for Arabic language education in this context.

Abstract

Learning Arabic, especially writing skills, is a complex challenge for both native and non-native speakers. Arabic has a structure and grammatical rules that are vastly different from other languages, such as Indonesian or English, and involves unique linguistic characteristics, such as right-to-left writing and the use of distinctive letters. One important component in language learning is Metalinguistic Awareness (MLA), which refers to the ability to understand and reflect on the elements of language, both orally and in writing. This study aims to examine the impact of MLA on Arabic writing skills, focusing on how MLA can help learners identify writing errors, organize sentence structures more accurately, and use appropriate vocabulary. This study employs a literature review approach to review the relevant literature on MLA and assess its impact on Arabic writing skills, at various levels of education, including elementary, secondary, and higher education. The findings from the literature review indicate that learners with higher levels of MLA tend to have better writing skills, especially in understanding complex sentence structures and correcting linguistic errors in their writing. However, despite these findings being supported by several studies, more empirical research is needed to specifically examine the application of MLA in the context of Arabic. Further research is also expected to develop more relevant MLA measurement instruments for Arabic and consider moderating factors that may affect its impact on writing skills.

Abstract

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) to provide digital feedback is growing and offers significant opportunities to improve the quality of competency-oriented learning. This article aims to analyze an AI-based digital feedback integration model through an in-depth literature review, examining the role of AI in generating automated, high-precision, adaptive, and data-driven feedback. The study results indicate that AI-based feedback systems can accelerate the formative assessment cycle, improve the accuracy of diagnosing learning difficulties, and facilitate mastery learning by providing personalized learning recommendations. Furthermore, AI contributes to the development of cognitive competencies through the analysis of conceptual understanding, affective competencies through monitoring motivation and engagement, and psychomotor competencies through gesture-based, video-based, or simulation-based performance analysis. This article also formulates an AI-based digital feedback integration model that combines components of learning analytics, competency gap detection, adaptive recommendations, and continuous feedback loops. This study confirms that integrating AI into feedback mechanisms can be a crucial pedagogical strategy for improving learning effectiveness and ensuring more comprehensive competency achievement.

Abstract

The integration of constructivist theory into multimedia learning design is a crucial approach to improving the quality of learning processes in higher education. This literature review article analyzes the principles of multimedia learning, their relevance to constructivist theory, design integration models, impacts on student learning outcomes, and implementation challenges. The study was conducted through a systematic review of academic literature published between 2000 and 2024, with an emphasis on publications in the last five years. The results indicate that multimedia design principles such as dual-channel, contiguity, coherence, and guided discovery are strongly relevant to constructivism, which emphasizes active engagement, exploration, and knowledge construction. Integrating the two principles results in multimedia designs that support conceptual understanding, problem-solving, learning motivation, and higher-order thinking skills. However, successful implementation is strongly influenced by the lecturer's pedagogical readiness, technological skills, content suitability, and potential cognitive load constraints. These findings underscore the importance of a focused and theory-based design approach to producing effective and meaningful multimedia learning. This article also offers directions for further research related to artificial intelligence-based adaptive multimedia, digital collaborative design, and long-term evaluation of the effectiveness of constructivist multimedia.

Abstract

The development of educational technology has introduced increasingly diverse and interactive forms of digital feedback, significantly impacting the quality of student learning. This article aims to analyze the role of digital feedback from three main perspectives: behaviorist, cognitive, and constructivist. Using a literature review approach, this article integrates recent research findings to explain the concept, characteristics, and pedagogical power of digital feedback in managing learning behavior, facilitating cognitive processes, and supporting knowledge construction. The results and discussion indicate that digital feedback functions to strengthen learning responses and habits from the behaviorist perspective, enhance information processing and reduce cognitive load from the cognitive perspective, and facilitate reflection, collaboration, and meaningful learning from the constructivist perspective. This analysis confirms that the effectiveness of digital feedback is highly dependent on design accuracy, information clarity, and appropriateness to student characteristics. This article provides important implications for educators and learning media developers in designing digital feedback systems that are more adaptive, informative, and centered on student learning needs.

Abstract

The main problem studied is students' low ability to understand and use Arabic, both actively and passively, which impacts their limited access to Islamic literature. The purpose of this study is to identify the types of difficulties in learning Arabic and analyze the causal factors, both internal (motivation, educational background, perception) and external (lecturer teaching methods and academic environment). This study employed a qualitative descriptive method, employing observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation analysis with students and lecturers in Arabic courses. The results indicate that the main difficulties faced by students lie in the application of grammar and grammatical rules, as well as poor speaking (kalam) and listening (istima') skills. This is caused by the dominance of the grammar-translation method and the limited language environment (bi'ah lughawiyyah). This study recommends changing the teaching approach to a communicative method and creating a conducive language environment on campus.

Abstract

In this era of globalization, Islamic Education poses new challenges coupled with modern day technological advancements, cultural shifts and the rapid flow of information. Globalization on the one hand, has positive consequences such as wider perspectives, ease of information and easier access to knowledge. At the same time, it has dire consequences such as the moral crisis of secularization coupled with ideologies, emerging of new ideologies working against the Islamic sentiment. The fundamental challenges of PAI as poorly integrated curriculum to contemporary needs, character related to the positive information deluge, and the fast growing teacher, discretely and profoundly integrating spirituality with the 21st century skill. Hence, it has become paramount to explore PAI curricula that go beyond the fundamental Islamic knowledge as to sustain positive Islamic as well as moral values and character, foster critical citizenship, and prepare students to partake on the Islamic world stage as a competing premier nation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role and function of mathematics in the development of Islamic educational institutions, with a focus on the context of Indonesia and Southeast Asia. The method used is a literature review by examining various sources such as scientific journals, academic books, policy documents, and data from the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. The results show that mathematics has multidimensional functions in the development of Islamic educational institutions, including: a historical role as an integral part of the classical Islamic scholarly tradition inherited from Al-Khwarizmi, Omar Khayyam, and Ibn al-Haytham; a curricular function in shaping the cognitive competencies of students; a managerial function in financial management, strategic planning, and institutional quality assurance; an integrative function that connects Islamic values with the teaching of science; and a contributive function toward producing competitive graduates. The study found that among the 42,433 pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) and 87,605 madrasahs in Indonesia, integrating mathematics with Islamic values is an effective strategy to increase learning motivation by up to 10% and learning outcomes by up to 23%. In conclusion, mathematics is not merely a general subject but a strategic instrument for realizing a holistic, competitive, and character-based Islamic education vision. Recommendations are provided for developing an integrated curriculum, improving teacher competencies, and strengthening digital infrastructure in Islamic educational institutions.
