Abstract

The shift in family values has become an important phenomenon in the social context of the modern era. This study examines the changes in values that occur within families, the challenges they face, and the adaptation strategies employed by families to remain harmonious and functional. In the context of modernization, globalization, and technological advancement, traditional values such as family unity, respect for parents, and clear gender roles are undergoing significant transformations. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach on several families in Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and participatory observation to gain a comprehensive understanding of the current dynamics of family values. The results of the study show that although many families experience dilemmas in maintaining traditional values, they also demonstrate a high capacity for adaptation by integrating new values relevant to the modern context

Abstract

This study examines the transformation of organizational communication in the digital era through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The research aims to identify key strategies, challenges, and impacts of digital communication on organizational effectiveness. Drawing on peer-reviewed journal articles indexed in Google Scholar, SINTA, DOAJ, and other academic databases, the study synthesizes recent literature addressing digitalization, information technology implementation, leadership communication, and employee engagement. The findings indicate that digital communication significantly enhances operational efficiency, accelerates information flow, supports cross-functional collaboration, and enables data-driven decision-making. However, the transformation process also presents critical challenges, including digital skill gaps, resistance to change, information overload, cybersecurity risks, and ethical concerns. Leadership communication emerges as a central factor in managing digital change, particularly in fostering trust, psychological safety, and organizational resilience. Overall, the study concludes that digital communication transformation positively influences organizational effectiveness when supported by adaptive culture, strengthened digital literacy, ethical governance, and balanced integration between digital and face-to-face communication.

Abstract

This study examines the communication strategies implemented by the Prabowo–Gibran Cabinet following their inauguration in 2024, using a qualitative approach and theoretical analysis grounded in classical management principles: Frederick Taylor’s Scientific Management and Max Weber’s Bureaucratic Theory. Data were collected from official documents produced by ministerial communication staff, political journalists, public policy analysts, discourse analysis of official speeches, as well as documentary studies and observational studies of the cabinet’s public communication policies and media coverage both mass media and social media between October 2024 and September 2025. The key findings indicate that: (1) the cabinet combines personal image strategies (leader branding) with managerial techniques emphasizing efficiency and organizational discipline; (2) the use of social media and symbolic performances (military-style retreats, uniformed appearances) functions as a tool for constructing narratives of legitimacy; (3) internal communication structures are strongly shaped by Weberian bureaucratic logic yet infused with Taylorian principles through the emphasis on operational standards and performance measurement of public communication campaigns; and (4) tensions between the demands of bureaucratic control and the need for flexible public communication create potential narrative dissonance that requires careful management.

Abstract

This study explores how organizational communication shapes the identity of female cadres in Kohati HMI Medan Branch through the value of #KohatiBerprinsip. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with twelve cadres at branch and commissariat levels and analyzed thematically. The findings reveal three key communication channels: structural, cultural, and digital communication. These channels create an integrated ecosystem that supports the internalization of Islamic, intellectual, and women-oriented values, forming the foundation of female cadre identity. The value of #KohatiBerprinsip operates as an identity framework embedded in formal training, leadership practices, and informal narrative interactions. However, challenges remain, including uneven information flow, differing interpretations of values, and digital information fatigue. Overall, organizational communication plays a strategic role in strengthening the identity of female cadres as principled and empowered Muslim women, though improvements in communication design and consistency of value-based narratives are needed.

Abstract

This study seeks to provide an explanation related to the concept of human resilience from the perspective of Stoicism as proposed by Epictetus and Marcus Aurelius. In the modern era, which is full of burdens and uncertainty, understanding resilience is very important. Using a literature study method, this review examines various journals related to the Stoic philosophy of Epictetus and Marcus Aurelius. The results of this study indicate that, from a Stoic perspective, resilience relies on a person's ability to manage their inner response to external circumstances, understand the limits of self-control, and develop a wise and sensible attitude. Epictetus emphasizes It is important to distinguish between aspects that are within our control and aspects that are beyond our control as the foundation for achieving peace of mind. Meanwhile, Marcus Aurelius emphasizes the importance of reflection, accepting reality, and living in harmony with nature. In general, the ideas of both provide a solid philosophical foundation for cultivating human resilience, especially when facing mental pressure and problems in modern life.

Abstract

Digitalization has significantly reshaped the design and delivery of public services, offering potential gains in efficiency, transparency, and citizen engagement, yet producing uneven outcomes across public institutions. This article analyzes the transformation of public service delivery in the digital era by emphasizing institutional capacity, adaptive governance, and citizen-centered approaches. Using a qualitative literature review, the study synthesizes theoretical, empirical, and policy-oriented research from major international databases through thematic analysis informed by digital-era governance perspectives. The findings demonstrate that digitalization constitutes a socio-institutional transformation rather than a purely technological process. Institutional capacity reflected in leadership commitment, regulatory adaptability, inter-organizational coordination, and organizational learning emerges as a critical determinant of successful digital public services. Additionally, citizen-centered and inclusive governance is essential to mitigate risks of digital exclusion and inequality. Integrating institutional capacity with responsive, citizen-oriented governance frameworks is therefore crucial for creating sustainable public value and effective digital service ecosystems in the public sector.

Abstract

Social media has blurred the boundaries between private and public life, creating new challenges for privacy management among communication students. This study explores how graduate students in communication understand privacy, perceive the impacts of oversharing, and negotiate boundaries in their social media use. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, the research involved in-depth interviews with six graduate students, analyzed through source triangulation and guided by theories of privacy meaning, Communication Privacy Management (CPM), boundary regulation, uses and gratifications, and digital well-being. The findings show that students perceive privacy management not only as data protection but also as a psychological and emotional safeguard. They employ strategies such as maintaining multiple accounts, audience segmentation, deliberate identity construction, and regulating posting frequency. Oversharing fulfills self-expression needs but also generates digital anxiety, social pressure, and concerns over digital footprints. While communication theory enhances reflective awareness, it does not fully counteract the influence of an open digital culture. Overall, privacy management emerges as an ongoing reflective process essential to digital well-being and ethical communication.

Abstract

The implementation of the Single Identity Number (SIN) policy through the integration of the National Identity Number (NIK) with the Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP) represents a strategic effort by the Indonesian government to reform public administration and strengthen tax governance. Despite its strong regulatory foundation, the implementation of this policy at the local level has not fully achieved its intended outcomes. This study aims to analyze policy communication in the implementation of SIN at the local level, using a case study of the Primary Tax Office (KPP Pratama) Medan Belawan. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis. The analytical framework is based on Charles O. Jones’ policy implementation model, which emphasizes organization, interpretation, and application. The findings reveal that policy communication has not been implemented optimally due to limited human resources, budget constraints, inconsistent communication practices, and differences in policy interpretation between implementers and target groups. This study highlights that effective, consistent, and well-coordinated policy communication is essential to ensure public understanding and participation in the implementation of SIN.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the One Data Policy in Medan City as a strategic effort to support the achievement of Indonesia’s Golden Vision 2045. The policy represents a public service innovation based on information technology, designed to establish an accurate, integrated, and transparent data system across regional government agencies. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using interviews, observations, and document analysis. Van Meter and Van Horn’s implementation theory serves as the analytical framework, encompassing six variables: policy standards and objectives, resources, characteristics of implementing agencies, disposition of implementers, inter-organizational communication, and external environment. The findings reveal that the standards and objectives have been outlined through Mayor Regulation No. 31 of 2021. However, the policy implementation faces several challenges, particularly in human resource capacity and inter-agency communication, which is hindered by sectoral egos. Despite support from the socio-political environment, the policy's impact on public service delivery remains suboptimal. The study recommends strengthening coordination, enhancing human resource capacity, and conducting regular evaluations to improve policy effectiveness in achieving long-term development goals.

Abstract

This article examines the role of Sufistic values in shaping models of political leadership through a socio-political analysis of Syech Mustofa Husein Nasution, a prominent Mandailing ulama whose influence extends from spiritual domains to political and social arenas in North Sumatra. While studies on Islamic leadership in Indonesia have predominantly focused on institutional politics, party dynamics, and electoral behavior, relatively few have explored how Sufistic ethics operate as a source of political legitimacy and developmental paradigms. Addressing this gap, the study elucidates how Syech Mustofa Husein Nasution synthesized spirituality, ethics, education, and communal engagement to produce a model of political leadership rooted in tawhid, amanah, shura, and wasatiyyah. Methodologically, this work adopts a qualitative descriptive approach, relying on primary documents, historical accounts, interviews, and pesantren-based observations. The findings demonstrate that Sufistic values not only functioned as moral resources but also as socio-political capital enabling community mobilization, conflict mediation, cadre formation, and institutional activism. These insights reveal that Sufism in the Indonesian context is neither apolitical nor purely devotional, but can serve as an ethical-political framework for social development. The study contributes to broader discussions on Islamic political thought by highlighting how spiritual authority intersects with governance and public leadership, offering implications for contemporary Islamic leadership, community-based development, and the revitalization of ethical politics in Muslim societies.
