Abstract

This study aims to explore the trends and strategies of effective digital marketing communication in increasing modern consumer engagement. The method used in this study is the Systematic Literature Review (SLR), which includes the identification, selection, and analysis of relevant studies from various academic and industry sources using the PRISMA approach. The results of the study indicate that effective digital marketing communication strategies rely on three main pillars: data-driven personalization, omnichannel integration, and ethical engagement. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning has enabled more personalized and predictive marketing experiences, increasing consumer engagement and loyalty. In addition, social media-based marketing and user-generated content have proven to be more effective than conventional advertising methods. However, challenges such as data privacy, digital fatigue, and algorithmic filtering are still major concerns for the digital marketing industry.

Abstract

This study analyzes the dynamics of netizens’ reception of the hashtag #tidakpercayapolisi on social media as a reflection of public sentiment toward the Indonesian National Police (Polri). Using a virtual ethnography approach grounded in a critical paradigm, primary data were collected through observation and documentation on social media and analyzed using Klaus Krippendorff’s content analysis to identify communication patterns and key themes. The results reveal a significant gap between Polri’s official narratives and public perceptions, with many netizens adopting an oppositional reception position. Major criticisms include evidence manipulation, corruption, and a lack of transparency in case handling, as well as the use of social media by the public as a platform to mobilize opinion and demand reforms. This study recommends that Polri strengthen communication and transparency through social media, implement internal reforms based on accountability, and utilize technologies such as body cameras and monitoring systems to enhance integrity and public trust in law enforcement institutions.

Abstract

Indonesia in 2024 is experiencing an era of rapid technological development. This technological progress is referred to as digital transformation. In the 2024 election, digital transformation has created a new atmosphere in political campaigning one that is more adaptive and innovative in shaping candidates’ public images. In political campaigns, every party and presidential and vice-presidential candidate competes to build a favorable image in order to gain public attention. This study analyzes the campaign image of the 2024 election by examining the use of digital transformation. A qualitative approach is employed, using content analysis of the social media platforms utilized by the 2024 presidential and vice-presidential candidates. The use of technology in digital transformation within the 2024 election campaign is closely linked to the diffusion of innovation theory. The 2024 election reflects diffusion of innovation through the role of political communication in shaping the campaign image of each candidate. The use of social media, campaign organizing technologies, digital marketing strategies, along with visual and multimedia content, successfully created strong branding and effective political communication that was relevant and responsive in the 2024 election.

Abstract

This study explores how ethical principles—such as honesty, empathy, responsibility, and dialogic respect—can address the growing challenges of online polarization, interpersonal conflict, and cultural fragmentation. Employing a qualitative literature review approach, this paper synthesizes insights from interdisciplinary sources spanning communication studies, media ethics, sociology, and digital literacy. The findings reveal that ethical communication is not only a theoretical construct but a practical necessity in digital ecosystems marked by anonymity, algorithmic bias, and declining civility. In particular, ethical frameworks rooted in dialogic theory and communicative action offer valuable strategies for navigating social differences and mitigating hostility. While challenges such as reduced empathy, shallow engagement, and institutional gaps persist, emerging opportunities exist through ethical platform design, digital education, and professional ethical leadership. Communication ethics, when embedded into policy, pedagogy, and everyday discourse, can transform online interaction into a space for inclusion, recognition, and relational healing. This study concludes that fostering ethically literate digital citizens is fundamental to achieving democratic engagement and sustainable peace in a digitally connected world. Communication must move beyond information transmission to become a vehicle for dignity, coexistence, and shared responsibility.

Abstract

This study analyzes the edutainment strategy used by the TikTok account @rolansihombing_ to build audience engagement through educational running-themed content. The study employed a qualitative approach with content analysis, supported by data collection techniques such as non-participant observation and literature review. The results indicate that the most consistently used primary strategy is personal storytelling combined with humor, demonstrative visualizations, and a delivery style tailored to the characteristics of the TikTok platform. This combination makes technical information such as the concept of "pace" and basic running exercises easier to understand, especially for novice runners, while also increasing engagement in the form of likes, comments, saves, and shares. The findings also align with the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM), which emphasizes the influence of emotional engagement in message processing. The study's limitations lie in its focus on a single account and its failure to examine long-term impacts. Further research is recommended to examine longitudinal, cross-platform effects, and audience demographic influences.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of collaborative governance in the revitalization of Taman Cadika as a public open space in Medan City. The revitalization of urban parks is considered crucial because public spaces function as venues for social interaction, community recreation, and the improvement of environmental quality, while also supporting the city’s image through adequate facilities and services. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, conducted at the Medan City Youth and Sports Office, the Taman Cadika area, and the Medan City Development Planning Agency (Bappeda). Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation, with informants selected using purposive sampling involving key, main, and supporting informants. The findings indicate that the revitalization of Taman Cadika is a collaborative process involving the government, the private sector, and the community, with central dynamics reflected in the integration of shared principles, joint motivation, and collective capacity for action. CSR funding support from PT Tor Ganda strengthened the implementation of the revitalization program; however, the study also reveals post-revitalization management challenges, particularly in monitoring facilities and ensuring visitor compliance. This study highlights that the sustainability of public open spaces after revitalization is strongly influenced by adaptive management, stronger monitoring procedures, and increased public participation and awareness.

Abstract

This article analyzes how the state’s political communication constructs and legitimizes agrarian reform discourse within the framework of global neoliberalism. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), the study synthesizes 32 peer-reviewed articles published between 2000 and 2025, selected based on thematic relevance, methodological rigor, and empirical contribution. The analysis identifies a consistent pattern of rhetorical commitment to agrarian justice paired with the material reproduction of land inequality. In particular, the administrations of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Joko Widodo, and Prabowo Subianto have framed land reform as a technocratic process focused on land certification, while avoiding direct confrontation with entrenched elite land ownership. This communication strategy, rooted in hegemonic discourse, has normalized structural exclusion and depoliticized land conflicts. Despite the proliferation of populist slogans, policies remain aligned with corporate and investor interests, marginalizing rural communities and indigenous peoples. The study concludes that political communication in post-authoritarian Indonesia functions not merely as information dissemination but as an ideological tool to maintain elite consensus. Agrarian reform, to be effective, must be reclaimed as a political struggle rooted in participatory justice and grassroots mobilization. Without this shift, reform risks becoming an aesthetic performance rather than a transformative agenda.

Abstract

Rising motor vehicle ownership in Medan City has intensified traffic congestion and carbon emissions, worsening urban air pollution. Data from the Medan Environmental Agency show that transportation-sector carbon emissions increased from 1,575 tons in 2020 to 2,154 tons in 2022. Kumparan Tech (2019) also reported an Air Quality Index (AQI) score of 78 for Medan, placing it among Indonesia’s five most polluted cities. In response, the Medan City Government introduced an electric-based Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system as a green transportation initiative aligned with sustainable development goals. Nevertheless, its implementation remains suboptimal due to inadequate bus stop facilities, limited fleet availability, insufficient supporting infrastructure, declining ridership linked to the digital payment system, and weak stakeholder coordination. This descriptive qualitative study collected data through interviews, observation, and documentation, guided by Litman’s (2015) green transportation indicators: safety, environmental impact, comfort, and land use. Findings highlight unmet standards, limited public outreach, and incomplete inter-stakeholder collaboration, prompting recommendations for stronger regulation, improved coordination, and better service quality.
