Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of side friction activities on the performance of Jalan Orang Kayo Pingai in Jambi City. The research data were obtained through traffic surveys conducted for seven consecutive days, from January 12 to January 18, 2026, during morning, midday, and evening peak hours. The side friction variables analyzed consisted of pedestrian movements (PED), parked or stopped vehicles on the roadway (PSV), and vehicles entering and exiting roadside access points (EEV). Road performance was evaluated based on traffic volume, road capacity, degree of saturation, level of service, and free-flow speed in accordance with the Indonesian Highway Capacity Guidelines (PKJI) 2023. Multiple linear regression analysis was performed using IBM SPSS software to determine the relationship between side friction and road performance. The results showed that the highest degree of saturation was 0.96 on the Talang Banjar direction with Level of Service (LOS) E, while the lowest degree of saturation was 0.49 on the Selincah direction with LOS A. Partial analysis indicated that on-street parking activities had the most significant effect on road performance, while simultaneously all side friction variables significantly influenced the degree of saturation. The coefficient of determination values of 0.900 for the Talang Banjar direction and 0.879 for the Selincah direction indicate that side friction activities have a very strong influence on the performance of Jalan Orang Kayo Pingai, Jambi City

Abstract

Natural lighting plays an important role in achieving visual comfort and energy efficiency in office buildings, particularly in humid tropical climates where excessive solar radiation often leads to glare and uneven illumination. This study aims to examine the influence of kinetic facade design on visual comfort using a systematic literature review approach. Relevant scientific articles related to adaptive facades and daylighting performance were analyzed to identify key design strategies and performance outcomes. The findings show that kinetic facade systems are capable of improving daylight distribution, reducing glare intensity, and maintaining more stable indoor illumination levels compared to conventional static facades. Several adaptive mechanisms, such as rotating panels, folding systems, and sensor-based controls, demonstrate effective real-time responses to varying solar conditions, resulting in improved visual comfort performance. This study contributes by synthesizing existing research to highlight the most effective kinetic facade strategies for humid tropical climates and by providing a conceptual basis for their application in office building design to enhance visual comfort and environmental responsiveness.

Abstract

A professional internship was conducted at the Forest Plant Certification and Seedling Center (UPTD BSPTH) of West Sumatra Provincial Forestry Service from January 5 to February 18, 2026, focusing on the seedling techniques of candlenut (Aleurites moluccana L.). This article aims to describe the seedling stages applied at UPTD BSPTH, including seed selection, pre-germination treatment, sowing, germination observation, transplanting to polybags, and seedling maintenance. The method used was participative observation and direct field observation. Results showed that the nursery medium consisted of a mixture of mineral soil, fine sand, organic compost, and rice husks. Mechanical scarification treatment was effective in increasing germination percentage. Seeds germinating in the center of the seedbed tended to sprout earlier due to more even moisture and temperature distribution. The produced candlenut seedlings showed good quality, characterized by strong taproots, erect dark-green stems, and normally developed leaves. The seedling technique applied at UPTD BSPTH is in accordance with the principles of forest plant nursery management, producing seedlings suitable for land rehabilitation and reforestation programs in West Sumatra.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) in improving product quality before the final inspection stage at PT.Indonesian ElectronicsThe main problem faced by the company is the high level of product defects that are only detected at the final inspection stage, resulting in increased rework costs, material waste, and reduced production process efficiency. The method used in this study is the Total Quality Management approach with the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle supported by quality control tools such as Pareto diagrams, fishbone diagrams, and control charts. Research data was obtained from observations, interviews, and company production data before and after the implementation of improvements. The results showed that the dominant types of defects came from machining process errors, lack of operator work standardization, and suboptimal process supervision. After improvements were made through SOP standardization, operator training, and machine preventive maintenance, the product defect rate successfully decreased from 8.5% to 3.2%. The number of defective products also decreased from 300 units to 140 units, or a reduction of 160 defective units. This decrease had a significant financial impact on the company, especially in reducing rework costs by 40%. Based on the estimated rework cost of Rp25,000 per unit and the product value of Rp150,000 per unit, the company obtained a total saving cost of around Rp28,000,000 derived from reduced rework activities, reduced reject products, and increased number of saleable products. In addition to providing production cost savings, the implementation of TQM also increases operational efficiency and stability of the production process before the final inspection stage. The results of the study indicate that the systematic implementation of TQM through the PDCA approach is effective in controlling product quality from the beginning of the production process, reducing the level of defects, and providing economic benefits through continuous improvement in production cost efficiency.

Abstract

Libraries are a crucial resource for supporting learning activities and providing information to everyone, especially students. However, many libraries still employ manual management systems, resulting in problems such as delays, recording membership, loan transactions, and reporting, as well as difficulties in data retrieval. This research aims to design a web-based library information system that can improve service effectiveness and simplify library data management. The system development method used is the Waterfall approach, using the Unified Modeling Language (UML) approach as a system design tool. UML is used to describe system processes through use case diagrams, activity diagrams, sequence diagrams, and class diagrams. The designed system has several key features, including book data management, member data management, loan and return transactions, and automated report generation. The research results in a web-based library information system designed to facilitate more organized and faster library management processes while minimizing the potential for errors in data processing.

Abstract

The rapid population growth and urbanization in Bandung City have increased the demand for adequate and affordable housing, while the availability of land continues to decline. To address this issue, the government has developed vertical housing such as the Ujung Berung Transit Apartment as a temporary residence for low-income communities. However, the high occupancy rate has led to population density issues that affect housing quality, limited space, and reduced living comfort. This study aims to identify the factors causing population density in the Ujung Berung Transit Apartment and formulate strategies for effective management. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through field observations, interviews with residents and management, and analysis of social and physical conditions. The findings indicate that the main causes of density include high resident mobility, limited maintenance budgets, and uncoordinated socio-economic diversity among occupants. The proposed strategies involve improving residential management systems, implementing socio-economic empowerment programs, optimizing communal facilities, and providing ongoing supervision from the government and housing authorities to create a healthy, orderly, and sustainable living environment. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for developing more effective models of vertical housing management in densely populated urban areas.

Abstract

The fuel subsidy policy in Indonesia is used as a cushion against global energy price volatility; however, its price adjustments frequently trigger a surge in inflation expectations. This study was conducted to analyze the effect of the fuel subsidy policy on inflation expectations and to compare the differences in responses between households and traders. A comparative empirical study was carried out by analyzing data from 800 respondents (400 households and 400 traders) in the pre-policy period (August 2022) and the post-policy period (September 2022), when the price of Pertalite was raised by 31%. The analysis was performed using difference tests (t-test, Mann-Whitney U) and a Generalized Linear Model (GENLIN). The results showed that the fuel price increase significantly raised the inflation expectations of the entire sample (+5.76 percentage points, p<0.001). Response heterogeneity was observed: traders’ expectations jumped by +8.26 pp, whereas those of households rose by only +3.25 pp (Period×Group interaction: B=+5.009; p<0.001). The share of energy expenditure was identified as the only significant covariate (B=+0.042; p<0.001), while economic literacy and information access were found to have no effect. It is concluded that the fuel price hike policy has a greater impact on traders’ expectations than on those of households; therefore, segmented policy communication strategies are required. This study contributes to the literature on the heterogeneity of inflation expectations in developing countries and provides implications for Bank Indonesia in managing the expectations channel.

Abstract

The phenomenon of gentrification, which has impacted social, economic, and spatial changes in the Dago Giri area of Bandung, has been caused by rapid economic and tourism growth over the past twenty years. The purpose of this study is to identify the social, economic, and spatial impacts of the gentrification process and to examine how the growth of tourism activities is related to changes in settlement patterns. The research method used in descriptive qualitative by conducting literature research with secondary data sources such as books, journals, and new articles. The results show that the shift of the Dago Giri are from an agricultural environment and local settlement to a tourist and commercial area has caused an increase in land prices, the displacement of indigenous peoples, or dispersion, and changes in the social structure of the community. In addition, the shift in land use has caused social differences between newcomers and long-time residents, and less open green space. Although gentrification benefits investors and businesses, it is derimental to the local community. Therefore, inclusive spatial planning policies are needed to balance economic growth with social sustainability. These policies should include affordable housing, cost control, preservation of local character, and community land ownership.

Abstract

Space efficiency is an important aspect in the design of library buildings because it is directly related to the optimization of spatial functions and the economic value of the building. As a public facility, a library has diverse spatial requirements; therefore, efficient spatial management is necessary to optimally accommodate user activities. In addition, the use of wood materials as architectural elements provides flexibility in spatial arrangement and offers potential efficiency in construction processes. This study aims to analyze the influence of space efficiency on the economic value of wooden library buildings through a case study of Microlibrary Warak Kayu designed by SHAU Indonesia. The research employs a case study method with a descriptive-analytical approach. The analysis was conducted by identifying spatial configurations, calculating space efficiency based on the ratio of effective area to the total building area, and examining its implications for user capacity and the conceptual economic value of the building. The results indicate that efficient spatial planning can increase space utilization capacity and maximize productive areas, thereby contributing to the enhancement of the building’s economic value. Furthermore, the use of wood materials supports spatial flexibility, allowing spaces to be utilized more optimally.
