Abstract

Ship stability is one of the important aspects that determine safety in shipping, especially on passenger ships and vehicles such as KM. Kirana III. This study aims to analyse the effect of variations in vehicle and passenger loads on the centre of gravity (CG) and metacentric height (GM). The research method used is quantitative analysis with stability calculations based on variations in vehicle and passenger load conditions, then compared with safety criteria set by the International Maritime Organisation(IMO). The calculation results show that the greater the vehicle load, especially when positioned higher or unevenly distributed, the greater the KG value (distance of th centre of gravity from the keel). The KG (Centre of Gravity Height from the Keel) for all voyage trips ranged between 5.57 – 5.71 metres. Changes in KG values were influenced by vehicle load distribution and passenger numbers, although the fluctuations were relatively small. This condition reduced the vessel's ability to return to an upri ht position, thereby decreasing vessel stability. The GM value (Metacentric Height) was obtained in the range of 1.19–1.33 m, while the GOm value (GM after Free Surface Effect) is in the range of 0.94–1.06 m. Both values remain positive, meaning the vessel is in a stable condition during each trip.variations in passenger numbers, especially those placed on the upper deck, reduce the GM value due to an increase in the centre of gravity. The combination of heavy vehicle loads and large numbers of passengers has proven to be the most risky in terms of reducing ship stability, although the GM value remains within safe limits if the load distribution is balanced. Placing heavy vehicles in the central deck area with balanced left-right distribution is the optimal configuration capable of maintaining a positive GM value. This study emphasises that monitoring the distribution of vehicle and passenger loads is crucial for maintaining vessel stability. These results can serve as a reference for vessel operators and shipping companies in developing safe and efficient loading strategies.

Abstract

In the continuously evolving digital era, the demand for consultation services that are fast, easily accessible, and well-integrated is increasing. Many consultation services are still conducted conventionally, making communication processes, service searches, and data management time-consuming and less efficient. This study discusses the analysis and design of a digital-based consultant information system aimed at facilitating the consultation process between users and consultants in an effective and structured manner. The system is designed to assist users in searching for consultation services, making bookings, processing payments, and providing reviews of services they have utilized. The research methodology includes problem identification, data collection through observation and literature review, as well as system analysis and design using the Unified Modeling Language (UML) approach. The system design process involves the development of several models, including use case diagrams, activity diagrams, sequence diagrams, class diagrams, and database design to support data management processes within the system. In addition, a user interface design is developed to ensure ease of use for both users and consultants. The results of this study are presented in the form of a digital-based consultation service information system design capable of supporting more effective service management processes. The proposed system is expected to improve service quality, accelerate consultation processes, simplify data management, and provide a better user experience for both users and consultants. Furthermore, the implementation of this digital system can support more structured data storage and minimize errors in information processing.

Abstract

Terminalia catappa L. (ketapang) is a multipurpose tree species that is widely found in tropical coastal areas and has significant ecological and economic value. This study aimed to describe the nursery technique of Terminalia catappa L. at the UPTD Certification and Forest Plant Propagation Center (BSPTH), West Sumatera Forestry Service. The method used was direct observation and active participation in all nursery activities, supported by literature review. The results showed that the nursery of T. catappa was carried out generatively using natural seedlings collected from Pantai Tiram, Padang Pariaman Regency. The process consisted of three main stages: (1) collection of seedlings with a height of 15–30 cm with healthy stems and leaves; (2) weaning of seedlings into polybags (12 × 17 cm) with growing medium of soil, compost, and rice husk; and (3) routine maintenance including watering, fertilizing, weeding, and pest control until seedlings were ready for distribution. The success of T. catappa propagation was strongly determined by seedling quality, careful extraction to maintain root integrity, growing medium composition, shade intensity management, and consistency of maintenance activities. This study provides valuable information for forest rehabilitation programs, particularly in coastal replanting efforts in West Sumatera.

Abstract

This study examines the growth dynamics of Gemini app users, a strategic issue in the global artificial intelligence market competition. The primary objective is to project monthly active user (MAU) trends to identify potential market saturation phases. The methodology employs AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) modeling based on historical data from 2025 to early 2026. Analysis reveals that following a period of exponential growth driven by Android ecosystem integration, the rate of user acquisition has begun to undergo structural stabilization. Model predictions indicate that user numbers will reach a saturation point of approximately 860 million MAU by the end of the third quarter of 2026. These findings suggest an industry-wide shift in focus, moving away from mass acquisition toward user growth strategies fueled by future digital innovation.

Abstract

The advancement of molecular biology requires efficient nucleic acid extraction methods to overcome the complexity of biological samples. Fungi associated with avocado plants possess strong cell walls and the presence of host secondary metabolites that may potentially inhibit molecular analyses. This study aimed to isolate and evaluate the quantity and quality of fungal DNA from avocado plants using a combination of mechanical disruption (bead beating) and spin column-based purification. Fungal DNA was isolated using the Quick-DNA™ Fungal/Bacterial Miniprep Kit. Quantification using a NanoDrop spectrophotometer showed that DNA concentrations ranged from 1.7 to 139.1 ng/µL. Most samples yielded DNA concentrations above 50 ng/µL with A260/280 purity ratios ranging from 1.87 to 1.98. Mechanical disruption using beads in a lysis tube facilitated the breakdown of fungal cell walls, while the silica column effectively purified DNA and reduced contaminants that could potentially interfere with analysis. Therefore, the combination of bead beating and spin column methods effectively produced high-quality genomic DNA suitable for further molecular analyses, such as Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR).

Abstract

Genomic DNA isolation is a crucial step in various molecular biology analyses because the quality of the DNA obtained is crucial for the success of subsequent analyses. This study aims to describe the process of isolating and purifying genomic DNA from human blood samples using the spin column method and to evaluate the quality of the resulting DNA. The study was conducted at the Biomedical Laboratory, Faculty of Medicine, Andalas University, Padang, West Sumatra. The isolation process was carried out using a silica column-based DNA extraction kit, which includes the stages of cell lysis, DNA binding to a silica membrane, washing, and elution. The quality of the extracted DNA was evaluated based on its concentration and absorbance ratio A260/A280 using a microvolume spectrophotometer. The results showed that most samples had an A260/A280 ratio in the range of 1.80–1.90, indicating DNA with a good level of purity and relatively free from protein contamination. The obtained DNA concentration varied between 1.4–92.2 ng/µl, reflecting differences in extraction efficiency in each sample. The spin column method has proven effective in producing genomic DNA with adequate quality and purity for advanced molecular biology applications, such as PCR, electrophoresis, and sequencing. With its fast, safe, and reproducible procedure, this method has become one of the most widely used techniques in diagnostic laboratories and molecular research.

Abstract

The development of precast concrete systems has positioned connection systems as critical elements that influence not only structural performance but also architectural design flexibility. This study aims to comparatively examine dry joint and wet joint precast concrete connection systems in relation to architectural design flexibility and their implications for architects’ design freedom. A qualitative approach using descriptive comparative methods was employed, combining literature review and analysis of selected precast concrete building case studies utilizing both connection systems. The analysis focuses on architectural flexibility, including spatial reconfiguration, mass development, and future building expansion potential. The results indicate that dry joint systems primarily support flexibility at the spatial and modular scale, allowing layout changes and functional adaptation with minimal structural intervention, while limiting mass articulation and vertical development. In contrast, wet joint systems provide flexibility at the building scale through higher structural continuity and reliability, enabling complex forms, large spans, and high-rise development, but offering limited flexibility for spatial modification after construction. This study highlights that the selection of precast concrete connection systems constitutes a strategic architectural decision that shapes the direction of design flexibility throughout the building life cycle.

Abstract

Effective time and cost management is essential in construction projects to prevent delays and cost overruns. This study analyzes the time and cost management of the Rehabilitation Project of Flower Garden (Taman Bunga) Paving in Sumenep Regency, with a total contract value of IDR 810,128,000. A qualitative approach was employed using field observations, interviews, and document analysis as data collection methods. Data were analyzed by comparing planned versus actual project schedule and cost. Results showed that project implementation experienced two Contract Change Orders (CCO) redistributing work volumes without altering the total contract value. Significant schedule deviations occurred, reaching a cumulative gap of 41.49% at Week IV (planned 61.23% vs. actual 19.74%). Nevertheless, the project was completed at 100% by Week IX through overtime and additional labor. The Schedule Performance Index (SPI) fell as low as 0.32 in Week IV, indicating critical delay. The Cost Performance Index (CPI) remained at 1.0, confirming no cost overrun. Key delay factors included vegetation removal complexity, CCO administrative processes, adverse weather, and material procurement difficulties—particularly custom-order paving blocks. The study recommends enhanced pre-construction material surveys, comprehensive risk contingency planning, and systematic Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling for similar future projects.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the psychological influence on athletes while analyzing psychological factors that contribute to performance improvement through a System Literature Review (SLR). The method used in this study is a qualitative method with a System Literature Review (SLR) type using a systematic article search through Publish or Perish and Google Scholar. In journals with keywords that facilitate search understanding such as: "sport psychology factors", "performance sports", "psychological factors in performance sports". The results of this study indicate that in performance sports and improving athlete performance not only focuses on physical factors, but also considers psychological factors that play an important role in improving athlete performance and achieving success. In performance sports, athletes really need motivation from many parties, including coaches, parents, teammates, and even the government, so that they can help them stay motivated and maintain focus. In addition, structured talent scouting is also needed, starting from the recruitment stage to the final coaching, so that it becomes an important basis in a psychological-based training approach for athletes.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penambahan limbah oil sludge dan biji plastik polypropylene (PP) terhadap karakteristik fisik aspal penetrasi 60/70. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen dengan variasi kadar campuran sebesar 0%, 3%, 5%, 7%, dan 9%, dimana komposisi bahan modifikasi terdiri atas 80% oil sludge dan 20% polypropylene. Pengujian dilakukan terhadap parameter penetrasi, berat jenis, titik lembek, titik nyala dan titik bakar, serta daktilitas sesuai standar SNI yang berlaku. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan oil sludge dan polypropylene menyebabkan nilai penetrasi menurun dari 63,73 mm menjadi 59,27 mm, titik lembek meningkat dari 48,5°C menjadi 53°C, dan daktilitas menurun dari 165,4 cm menjadi 85,6 cm. Nilai berat jenis cenderung menurun namun masih memenuhi standar, sedangkan titik nyala dan titik bakar tetap berada di atas batas minimum yang dipersyaratkan. Berdasarkan keseluruhan hasil pengujian, kadar campuran 5% merupakan komposisi optimum karena memberikan keseimbangan terbaik antara kekakuan, fleksibilitas, dan ketahanan terhadap suhu tinggi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa limbah oil sludge dan polypropylene berpotensi dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan modifikasi aspal yang ramah lingkungan dan layak digunakan pada perkerasan jalan.
